Instead Of Defining The Points In Series Collection Editor?
Apr 29, 2012
Instead of defining the Points in Series Collection Editor, can I define them from textboxes, numeric up down or something like that?
Example: Having a numeric up down, the number I put there appears as Y value for a X value that never changes, even when I change the numeric up down value.
The below photo shows that point 4 is connected to point 1 while point 5 is not connected to point 1 according to the flow direction. How can I programme this?
The below code shows the connections between nodes where the row of the matrix represents "FromPoint" and the column represent the "ToPoint".Public Class Form1 Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase .Load
I have an array of type Double() (1 x n) that I am trying to quickly plot on a graph I've already set up. The only thing I want/need to do is take my array and store it as data points (y-axis values) in the series I already have. What's the best way to do this? Also, will the data points that are plotted change as my array changes, and if not, how would I replot those new points and get rid of the old points?
I have an ASP Chart (v4) which displays the data I need perfectly. I want it to show labels at the top of the data points and I am having some difficulty with it. Here is my code that works for both series but does not display the labels:
I have been researching for a couple of days now and to no avail. Does Anyone know how to make a custom collection that take advantage of the collection editor? I would like to be able to have 3 Color Values, 1 Boolean and 1 String.
I have a collection which is a list of points, and I need to mix them all up before passing them into an algorithm - similar to if i was to pour them into a bad and shake the bag up.
how i might approach this? The collection will always have a different number of points in it..
I'm working in .net 2005. I have a collection of points and I'm creating a polyline with them; however, I need to curve fit them so that they appear to be some what straighter.
If you look at my picture, you can see the blue dots represent the points and the red line is a represenation of how I'd like the final results to be. (Basically, I need to line to appear straighter and less jaggedy looking than it is now).
I didn't know if I should try to see if there's some plug-in for doing this or if vb.net has anything I could use to do this myself.
I'm using VS2008, writing an app in VB.Net (3.5 framework), and I have a custom control which recieves a collection (each item in the collection has an image, and 2 text fields). When populating this at design time, it's nice and easy to do either in code, or even better through the very useful "Collection Editor" (in terms of user friendliness, at least). What I'd like to do is give my end users a similar Collection Editor interface, on my main form, to be able to add to and remove from this collection in a similar way to how it's done in the IDE. This is new territory for me, and I really don't know how to achieve this
I have a UserControl class in a Windows Application project. One of the properties of it is a collection of another class that I have defined. I can't seem to find a good example of how to get the standard collection editor working for it at design time.I got it working using some example code I found to a degree, but the data in my collection doesn't get saved. When I exit the form and open it back up in design time the data isn't there any more. Here is my class:
Public Class Gauge Inherits Control Private WithEvents _Captions As New CaptionCollection
why the button in "String Collection Editor" is disabled (Please see the graph)? My final target is to enter a name-value dictionary in App.Config file, is there any alternative method to do that?
I am trying to extend the functionality of the ToolStripPanel control (which is a panel hosting ToolStrips that can be moved during design-time, as I'm sure you know). One thing I wanted to add was a 'ToolStrips' property, which would be a collection of ToolStrips the user can edit via the collection editor in the designer. So instead of manually placing ToolStrips on the ToolStripPanel via the toolbox, the user can just use the property to add/remove (or even edit) them. This is of course similar to how you add/remove/edit TabPages in a TabControl. So, I came up with this code, which I have used successfully in the past for other controls:
Public Class cToolStripPanel Inherits ToolStripPanel Private _ToolStrips As New ToolStripCollection(Me)[CODE]....
The cToolStripPanel control inherits the ToolStripPanel control and adds the ToolStrips property, which is of type ToolStripCollection. That class, in turn, inherits the Collection(Of ToolStrip). In the InsertItem method, I add the 'item' ToolStrip to the cToolStripPanel. Of course I also need to override the RemoveItem / ClearItems methods but that's for another time.I am 100% sure that this code should works, at least for other controls. If you replace ToolStrip with Button (for example), I can add buttons via the property during design-time just fine, exactly the way I want it.But it seems that ToolStrips are special. When I try to Add a toolstrip (via the collection editor Add button), a null reference exception occurs. I've been trying to debug this all day and I've finally come up with a possible candidate for the problem... (I've actually used design-time debugging for the first time ever, which was pretty cool, and which showed me that the InsertItem method is not run!)
I think the problem is that the collection editor cannot create a new instance of the ToolStrip class. I can remember when trying to inherit from the ToolStrip, I was forced to add a constructor, because the ToolStrip "has more than one constructor that can be called with no arguments".Perhaps this is causing my problem? Do I (and if yes, how?) have to somehow control the creation of a new instance of the ToolStrip? Or am I completely off track and that is not what is causing the problem? I'm sure that it's a problem with the ToolStrip class, since I can use the exact same method with other controls just fine. It's only when I change the type to ToolStrip that it starts getting angry at me....
Is it good practice to store sub-collections of item X inside a parent collection of item X for caching 'filter-queries' which are performed on the parent collection? (They won't be used together (as in color AND type).) Or is it also ok to just Loop over the collection and return the correct entities in a temporary collection?
I have .cls files that have attributes for XML files, and i would like to refer to them in the main body of my code without having to define each one as a class in the code as this would be writing them twice. How can i refer to a .cls file in a vb.net form? If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room
I would like to define an interface in the same manner as IDispose. By this I mean that when the interface is implemented it would add functional code.
For example when IDispose is implemented it adds a fully defined Dispose method rather than just an empty sub routine.
I have a dropdown where the items initially are filtered (using a SQL Datasource) based on the selection of another dropdown; however, I have included a checkbox where if checked, the dropdown needs to populate with all data from another datasource How do I programatically remove a datasource that is bound to a control and then define another?
I have the following code, but it errors: If cbOverrideArea.Checked Then Me.ddArea.Items.Clear()
I am using Excel interop in my VB.NET program. My problem is that I can't seem to figure out how to write to Excel *and* define the Range using numbers.Alright, so I have objects being created depending on the file that the user opens. So there could be 100 objects or there could be none. Now each object has an array of values, and these arrays contain nearly 15000 elements. So here is what I want to do but I can't figure out how to escape using the LetterNumber:LetterNumber combination.
For every object I want a new column to be occupied and for every element in the objects array I want the row to be occupied. I figured the easiest way to do this was using a for loop but, again, I can't use numbers.
For columns = 0 to NumberOfObjects For rows = 0 to NumberInArray Cell(0,0).Value = myObjectsCollection(column).Array(rows) Next Next

Type Record A As Long B As String End Type Dim Rec As Record
When I keyed in "Type" in my declarations, I was asked to change it to "Structure". After that, I was not able to define anything inside. So, what do I need to do?
I have to define a name for a varying-length column of cells. The name is used later to define the range for a Data Validation List. I just cannot figure out (and the Help Function isn't assisting) how to define the Name, say "DropOrdNum" using a variable as the address for the last cell in the range. It is easy to define a name for "O13:O2000" - no problem, but then I have a whole lot of blanks in my drop-down list. But how do I define a name for "O13:LastCell", by making "LastCell" the Range Variable (am I correct in this) for the address of the last cell in the active range and then defining the name "DropOrdNum" as being the range "O13" to either "O(the row number of the last cell)" or "LastCell", being the address of the last cell in the active range, which varies by the hour?
I know you can dimention a variable and assign data to it at the same time using dim a() [1,2,3,4,5,6,7}but how can you do this with multiple arrays.is it something like [code]
In C# you can use the implicit keyword to define an implicit user-defined type conversion operator. In VB.NET you can define a CType conversion operator that will explicitly convert a user-defined type into another type.Is there a way to declare an implicit conversion operator in VB.NET?
The below sub-procedure isn't working like I expect it to. Basically, I have 9 fields on a tab control. When a user clicks in one of the fields, I wish for the field to "SelectAll" if their is a value already in the field. As you can see, the way I have it structured...only 1 field will do this, however, even this is not working.
Private Sub txtAddr1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles txtAddr1.Click, txtAddr2.Click, _ txtAddr3.Click, txtCity.Click, _ cmbState.Click, txtZip.Click, _
