May 5, 2011I am looking to define data types by fields in SQL Server 2005. My source is an Excel spreadsheet and I cannot define by columns because each row requires a set of definitions applied to each field in that row. Ex, row 1 requires field1 to be CHAR while in row 2 field 1 needs to be DATE.

Arrays - DataGridView Not Showing Data
May 22, 2012I have looked around quite a bit, and nothing seems to answer my question in particular. I have DataGridView in which I add rows and columns dependent on a certain record count of geospatial data that is held in ArcGIS. The data is then passed through to the gridview for editing. So I do not use any databinding methods, rather it is a very manual process. I store data into a two-dimensional arrays, which indexes are based off of those certain data record counts. After the loops are complete, the data should be stored in each cell dependent on index. The very last row that was populated is populated perfectly, yet the other 72 (or so) rows are blank. Dec 28, 2010I'm creating a windows application using visual studio. My code is in visual basic. I want to enter a "Browse" button where the user will click on it and select an excel file from his computer. Then,for each column of the excel file, I want to create an arraythat will contain the same data with the column.Only the first sheet will be necessary and it will have specific number of collumns. I won't know the number of the rows, I will be needing a counter for these as well. My object is to have these data as arrays and to be able to make some calculations.

Will an array collect data from text boxes (I also want to display the 8 pieces of information in separate boxes). also how would I save the text file so I can open it again or open a different text file (database?), from within the program?
EDIT: I see I need to use readline and writeline to read/write from a text file but how would I find specific data to show in my boxes?

i noticed {|} this is the format that vb.net uses for arrays, i was wondering if that's an ok way to store things, on retrieval once i get the node value, what would be the best way to break up the {value1|it's partner value2} variables to use, explode the | and get parts (0) and (1)?

May 9, 2010In VB6 I load a recordset containg all of the records (6 fields per record)in a table into an XArray and then manipulate the records in the array and then write them back to the original table. The array issorted by the first field (1 to maybe 8000 or more) I need to find records in the array by an ID field and then move them (because of some external criteria that happens many times) from say number 400 to number 375. Then all of the other records between 375 and 399 were renumbered up 1 to fill the gaps left by the move.
The XArray worked well as it could find and also move to a next record easily to facilitate the revisions to each record quickly. Everything is done in VB6 in code and nothing visual needs to be shown to the user until say 2000 of these external changes are complete. What is the best, most efficient way to do this in the .Net framework in VB2010. Datasets, Dataviews. tableadapters, arrays. enums ?

Passing Arrays Through Fortran Dll From App Turning To Single Element Arrays?
Feb 2, 2010I have a VB.net console app and I am opening a function in a dll written in fortran. I am passing 3 arrays through the function by reference. When they come back out the otherside they ahve all tunred to arrays of only one element And that element is 0.I read on the internet somewhere that when doing this kind of thing it is a good idea to only pass the first element of the array into the function.I tried changing my function declaration to accepting single elements rather than single dimensional arrays, and now the arrays are the same length before and after the function call, but they don't seem to be changing at all, so i'm not sure that this is working

I want to be able to have the selected items repopulate as selected if the user reopens the web page.What I've tried:I've pulled the items selected previously back to a hidden list box which works but I can't figure out how to compare what is in that list box with all the items contained in the checkbox list (this is being populated by another seperate table in the db)I've tried just a straight query and used reader but keep getting errors about cast and if I switch it to a GetDecimal, when I try to see what it's pulling, it's not the data but maybe the index: See below:Does anyone out there have a sample of can help me figure out how to just have this stupid checkbox list reselect the items that the user previously selected and saved to the db?

The point is: i'd want to scan through all "Impedance" values (which are read from xml file) and compare with value y to catch the nearest value to y. How to do that?

Now i have to update these classes, since there are additional informations, that have to be exchanged. When i use the tool now with the new wsdl-files, it does'nt create the classes for complex data (structur, IGCTMObjectFactory), but only one class for simple data. In addition i have to establish a new client, that sends an array of complex data and receives another array of complex data. I tried to build the classes manually combining the client that sends an array with the client, that receives an array, but I failed.
