Nov 29, 2008I have the following array, (y axis) and wish display a curve. I am trying to find a way to code this so that can run it under Windows (PC) and under Windows mobile. The x axis increments 5 pixels with every point in my array.

Sep 20, 2011I new in vb .net. Now doing the robot mapping project from the arduino serial port and VB 2010 as a GUI. The serial port can read the text from arduino sensor but how to plot the graph from all the sensor value? So when ultrasonic detect the distance will give the pixel or point. I using the picture box as a background grip map.

Mar 15, 2012I've got a bar chart on my form which when I click a button, it populates with some data showing the clients net position, which is their assets vs their liabilities. This is shown on a year-by-year basis, so the graph will go up or down accordingly. If the graph goes into negative, or is negative at any stage, I would like it to turn red, and leave the positive values green. I have no idea how to do this, or even where to start looking into the properties. I'm still new to using the charts. How can I make the x-axis labels in increments of 5 from 0, instead of increments of 5 from -1?

May 18, 2012I was wondering if I could elicit some tips on how to procede with an interface design approach.That is. What is a good way to go about establishing a "work area" where one can have multiple "floating forms" in this area.Can you have a form which occupies the entire windows desk top and the other forms "float" in this space? the "floating" forms would need to interact with each other where pressing buttons etc on them would affect other forms on the "workspace") Or what would be a good way to start accomplishing that? Or is there a better way to get the same effect?

Apr 21, 2010I'm trying to make a .dll that contains a lot of basic functionality that a program can use. Currently i am trying to use interfaces to make a lot of this functionallity independend of the program using it but i hit a snag. The Basic idea is that a programmer will create his own object using the interface discribed in my .DLL file. Then implements those functions as he likes. He can then instanciate a controller (found in the same DLL) and sends his custom object implementing the interface to that Controller. The controller can then be started and will take over all the work. I do not know what type of object is send to the controller and idealy i want to program it in such a fashion that i shouldn't care as long as the object send implements that interface.In code I am trying to achieve the following: (quite simplyfied)

this propperly. I know that the second i set the interface adaptor in the Controller VS comes nagging that it can not be converted to a "MyInterface" Class. Obviously i am doing something wrong. I can change the datatype that the controller expects to the "MyController" type but that would completely ruin the whole idea of flexibillity. I am hoping someone sees what i am trying to do and can point out where i made the thinking error.

Jan 19, 2011So I decided to make my famous tile selector project, but instead of drawing in a form's graphics, do it inside a tabpage.Well, I managed to get it working, but it seems to... flicker.Normally, setting the form's DoubleBuffered property to True would help a lot there, but apparently, the tabpage has no such property.
When I invalidate the tabpage, I draw two images and fill one rectangle.Following past advice, those two images were created before, just once, and are stored in a variable so I don't create them every time I invalidate the tabpage.

Dec 29, 2011I am working on an application that ties into a SQL database on the back end. Currently the main form contains a series of combo boxes (Graph type, data format, location, and customer), two date pickers, and a button to launch the selections in a new form. Everything works just fine except there are a couple of things I can't seem to accomplish.

1) I would like to be able to use some sort of case statement to color the bars in my chart based on value. I have tried approaching this in a couple of different ways but neither of the options seem to work. First, I tried this (the If Not is used because depending on what values are passed to the stored procedure in SQL, different columns will be returned):

Only one series is created with this method, so I can see how/why a Select Case would set all bars the same color. I have also tried creating a series for each row in the returned dataset but it results in 22 bars of different colors, for each of the rows (484 bars):

So is there any way to modify the second set of code there to only select the value from the "Percent TMHB" cell that corresponds with Row(i), rather than ALL values from the "Percent TMHB" column for EACH Row(i)?
2) Since I am drawing/creating these graphs in a new window, is there any way to also create a new timer on the "newFrm" and have the tick refresh the data? I've struggled with this but I feel like it should be easy. Say someone chooses a "TMHB", "Percentage", "Chicago", "All" (Graph type, data format, location, customer) and launches the graph, which opens in a new window, then they want to do "TMHB", "Percentage", "LA", "All" and have both windows up, refreshing automatically throughout the day. Can I somehow store the SelectCommand.Parameters values in the new form/timer so that it will query the database again every 5 minutes?
