[code]For some reason I cannot change the color properties for the MonthCalendar control.[code]No matter what I change it to, it stays to its default color of white and black. Actually none of the color options work on any of the sections of the control.I am trying to hide the white border around the control and but a blue bar under the name of the month (top section).I have tried deleting the control and creating it anew on the form but no luck.It was working a couple of weeks ago.

I'm trying to change the background color of a node that is being hovered over while the user is dragging items from a list box.I've gotten both functions to work separately, but while the user is dragging, the NodeMouseHover event does not fire. Is there a way to do both?
vb Private Sub trvNavigation_DragEnter(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DragEventArgs) Handles trvNavigation.DragEnter
If Me.CanMove(e) Then
e.Effect = DragDropEffects.Copy
[Code]...
Note: CanMove() is a function I made that verifies the dragged data. Nothing else. And I will change "Color.Blue" to a system color later.

I have a form with buttons, and the user can change the colors of the buttons with the color dialog box for fun:
Button_Play.BackColor = ColorDialog.Color
There is a reset button to put the colors to how they were without any special coloring, but I can't get them to go back to how they originally looked.They go to gray in the middle, instead of the nice shaded blue/gray style. I have tried a few different things:
Button_Play.BackColor = Button.DefaultBackColor
Button_Play.BackColor = SystemColors.Control
Button_Play.BackColor = Color.Empty
I am using VB '08 Express on Win XP with the Desktop, Display Properties, Appearance, Windows and Buttons: set to Media Center Style and Color Scheme: set to Energy Blue. how to (with this theme) get the button to look like default after changing the color?

I have a red, green, and blue color that I am making with this method:
Code:
Dim Red1 As Color = Color.FromArgb(75, Color.Red)
and a brighter red:
[code].....
Any recommendations? I like the fact that 255,255,255 is white. Is there a way to create color by combining three colors that were made from argb? I may just have to make my 20 different colors set and then refer to them.

I created an application in VS2005 that draws text with a custom font and color. The images look great from my XP machine. But from another machine running Windows Vista, the graphics are messed up. It seems that the transparencies inherit the default black background so there's this gray'ish/black haze around the text...

Ive been working on creating a side scroller game, and the back color of my pictureboxes needs to go. when transparent, it shows through the program and onto whatever is active in your Windows os(usually Visual studios).
I am trying to rip pixel color off of the background image picturebox( the level), and replace parts of the character picture box that show transparency with the level art. there may be poor logic in my code?
Heres my code:
Dim newImage As Bitmap = New Bitmap(PictureBox1.Image)
Dim backImage As Bitmap = New Bitmap(PictureBox2.Image)
Dim ximg As Bitmap = New Bitmap(PictureBox3.Image)
[code]....
not the best idea, but all i get is one color for all the level pixels placed in the new image, which is odd. any poor logic you see in this code that could allow the newImage.setPixel not to be 1 color? when i breakpoint, it is recieving different colors from the backimage.getpixel, but only putting one shade on for setpixel somehow. im not going for an accurate color read from the background yet, just wondering why im getting 1 pixel color for the whole picturebox background when being changed.

I was wondering if there is a way to have a button/label that would change the selected item color of the combobox from the standard black into a certain color (say green), but not change all of the items' color into green. This is for a to-do list type of application where a user clicks the button to signify that the current item is finished..This is what I was thinking (not in VB code) When button1 is clicked, combobox1. selecteditem. color = green

Is the ContextMenu control strictly to offer choices when the user right-clicks some object, or can it be used to offer choices in general?
In my situation, when a user opens a certain type of file, I want to offer a selection of specific subfiles (line ranges) within said file as choices. The presence of subfiles and their number is variable, so this would be a dynamic situation. (No subfiles: use the whole file; three subfiles: present three choices ...)Would ContextMenu be appropriate, or should I offer a list box or combo box or frame of radio buttons instead?

I have a listview with a number of items with different color backrounds on each. But when i click on one of the items, the color of the item that the selection has just left turns to white, but it is recognised as being green/blue/whatever. If i open up another form on top of that one, and then close it, the colour comes back for the area that the form was covering.
I have a textbox that changes its backround color based on the color of the listview item currently selected, and that always shows the correct color.
I'v crawled the web and can only find one instance of it happening and that was a graphics accelerator problem, but i cant turn off my accelerator.

I have a standard DataGridView. One of the columns is a DataGridViewComboBoxColumn. When I select one of the ComboBox items, I want to trap the change and add additional columns based on the item selected in the ComboBox. I've tried using CellValueChanged for the DataGridView column, and a bunch of other events, but none of them is fired when the DataGridViewComboBox value is changed. What event can I trap to make this happen?

I have created the random bingo calls needed with the standard bingo letter restrictions.. i.e. B = 1 - 15, I = 16 - 30, etc. I have a form with 5 columns with B I N G O at the top and the corresponding numbers beneath. Those are labels named lblB1, lblB2, etc.
My problem is that I can't seem to figure out how to get get the text to change on the called tiles. Logically it would be easiest to use something like
varLabel="lbl" + varCalled
varCalled.Forecolor = red
Where varCalled is the ball number being called.But.. that is not the case. (I'm at work so can't submit the actual code at this time.. will do so later if needed)I've done some searching and can't find anything that helps out.. but searching for "change label color dynamically" comes up with how to change the color of a label at runtime.. not sure how else to search on it.

I have a combo box which will store a list of RGB values generated when the user makes a custom color in the color dialog. The values are stored in the combo box in RRR, GGG, BBB format. I have this working. The code for this is as follows:
dlgChooser.ShowDialog()
Dim colorR As String = dlgChooser.Color.R.ToString()
Dim colorG As String = dlgChooser.Color.G.ToString()
Dim colorB As String = dlgChooser.Color.B.ToString()
lblTitle.ForeColor = dlgChooser.Color()
cmbRecent.Items.Insert(0, colorR & ", " & colorG & ", " & colorB)
cmbRecent.SelectedIndex = 0
The next part is to change each recent color's background color to match whatever color the values represent (so that it's easier to pick from the colors). How do I assign a background color to each item listed in the combo box?

I used to program with Visual Basic 6, so I have alot of old programs that I'm updating, plus I'm learning the new VB2008 methods. I'm writing a program that replaces the old "BitBlit" function which is no longer supported by Visual Basic 2008. It involves three picture boxes, one holds the sprite bitmap, a second holds the mask (silhouette) of the sprite bitmap, and a third has a background image.
