I am trying to rip pixel color off of the background image picturebox( the level), and replace parts of the character picture box that show transparency with the level art. there may be poor logic in my code?

not the best idea, but all i get is one color for all the level pixels placed in the new image, which is odd. any poor logic you see in this code that could allow the newImage.setPixel not to be 1 color? when i breakpoint, it is recieving different colors from the backimage.getpixel, but only putting one shade on for setpixel somehow. im not going for an accurate color read from the background yet, just wondering why im getting 1 pixel color for the whole picturebox background when being changed.
How can I find out the pixel colour of a certain point on a web browser. For instance,WebBrowser1.getPixelColor(0,0) would get the rgb colour value of pixel 0, 0.It doesn't have to be rgb it might be hsl or whatever.The web browser is showing a local web page that is hosted on a network. I'm trying to figure out some simple code to detect when a single pixel changes color at a location I choose -anywhere- on the screen (ex. 100,100). Maybe with just a msgbox popup when it changes.
The visual basic program will just be hidden and running in the background.
I should be able program the rest of the program around it, I just need the detection part. That is where I am stumped.
I would like to create a pixel viwer (i.e. zoom into a picture to view the image's pixel information - Similar to windows paint or Photoshop). I have created an image zooming code, but it enlarges the image and sadly, doesn't show the blocks of pixels I was hoping for.I have thought of several ideas, but each worse than the next. As an example, re-create the image, increasing each pixel's area based on the zoom-level. But I can tell already that this process would be slow and judging by photoshop (or paint) there is a quicker method.

I am using vb 2008 express edition. I am still a student. All I have done is to obtain the image in a file and paste it in the picturebox. Below is my code. I dont really know how to start with the process of obtaining the rgb values of each pixel and converting them to HSL values and averaging the HSL value.[code..]
View 1 RepliesI made a graphics program in VB6... I then wanted to remake it in VB.NET (I believed it would be faster).
To convert it I wrote both the VB6 and VB.NET versions from scratch side by side. What I have found it that the VB6 code is MUCH faster than the VB.NET program... which I can't understand... (Please note that when not rerendering it in VB.NET it is much faster than VB6)

EDIT: Also... why do I have to multiply Me.ClientSize.Width by 3 for it to be the right size... it doesn't seem to add up.
EDIT2: The smaller the radsize the more efficient VB.NET is compared to VB6... so perhaps it has something to do with the setpixel in VB.NET
What I want to do is get the color of a position on the screen. I'd rather not capture the whole screen if I don't have to, just one pixel's color. I was trying to use GetPixel(ByVal hDC As IntPtr, ByVal x As Integer, ByVal y As Integer) As Integer, but I can't figure out how to get the handle to the screen.

It works fine for about 10-15 seconds and then I get an ArgumentException was unhandled error. So far this has happened on two different lines at separate times...

View 13 RepliesI am fairly new to visual basic and have written this program to detect a change in a selected pixel on the screen. When the pixel changes, a sound plays every x seconds. It works fine but after a few hours of operation a possible memory leak causes it to either crash the program or the PC. I have watched the process and I can see 4k added to it every 4 seconds or so. Where this memory leak is coming from?

how I could search a given bitmap, say "test.bmp" or a printscreen, for two pixels that are next to each other and that have specified color values? The colors are: &H486596 and &H213D66. I then want to return the pixel positions in the image at which they are first located adjacent to one another. I'm only after the first instance of the occurrence. When the user clicks on a Menu Item i want the container to show some controls, now when the user clicks another Menu Item, the container needs to change and show other controls, and so on with every menu Item the user clicks, one at a time.
I thought of panels showing and hiding for every menu Item clicking, but that would use a lot of memory as ALL the controls would be created, some of them just not showing. I also though of an MDI application, but i dont want multiple forms (with the menu bar) opening inside one form. I just want the actual container of one form to change.

I have a form with buttons, and the user can change the colors of the buttons with the color dialog box for fun:
Button_Play.BackColor = ColorDialog.Color
There is a reset button to put the colors to how they were without any special coloring, but I can't get them to go back to how they originally looked.They go to gray in the middle, instead of the nice shaded blue/gray style. I have tried a few different things:
Button_Play.BackColor = Button.DefaultBackColor
Button_Play.BackColor = SystemColors.Control
Button_Play.BackColor = Color.Empty
I am using VB '08 Express on Win XP with the Desktop, Display Properties, Appearance, Windows and Buttons: set to Media Center Style and Color Scheme: set to Energy Blue. how to (with this theme) get the button to look like default after changing the color?

Any recommendations? I like the fact that 255,255,255 is white. Is there a way to create color by combining three colors that were made from argb? I may just have to make my 20 different colors set and then refer to them.
