i am programming in vb 2008 and i hav a little problem.I hav added 8 picture boxes in my application and i wana know if i can go through all those 8 picture boxes in a "FOR LOOP". [code] now the problem is that i am not allowed to use "picturebox(i)"is there a way to go through all the picture boxes in a for loop?

I have alot of text boxes across alot of forms in ASP.NET programming in code behind pages in VB. I want to ensurethe user does not enter such characters as ' " ( ) or any which could mess up the sql syntax the script makes, and with some will validate what they entered is of numerical value.
Now I know you can stop the text box allowing such characters in a Windows application, but cannot find for the life of me a way of doing such in a web application - and its not really viable to perform a sub-string check at the click of a button for every box

anyone know how to do this, but wit a browse for folder aspect..like i open up my browse for folder window, select the folder i want and it displays the .png file in picturebox..i'm trying to figure it out..here is what i have so far..i have it setup where i'm opening up a folder and loading certain files in my checkedboxlist..but i also want a .png file that is in the subfolders(the only .png file in the entire directory) to be displayed in the picturebox..but the folder is going to be changed depending on which folder is selected..so it can't be a set directory or path..basically has to change like the checkedboxlist.

I need to be able to add (specific) special characters to text boxes. Problem is, there are five of them spread across two forms and three tabpages. What I'd like to do is bring up a form when the user presses something like "F2" while the text boxes are focused, then on that form would be a grid of buttons. When the user pushes a button, the character is added to the box. How do I get this form to reference the box that called it without passing a global variable or calling a public function? I tried Form3.Parent.Name, but that always seems to refer to nothing. Also, once this is done how can I get it to just insert a character where the cursor on the calling box is? It probably shouldn't even be on a form either since that will take the focus when it's called (which I don't want)

Now Remember the program I am working on is for a Digital Picture Frame there is NO wirless network adapter on the old pc and there is no keyboard going to be attached to the laptop so the program must launch its self (ill put a short Cut in the windows startup folder). I got a picture box that excepts the picture file it covers the whole form! (when there is a picture in the picturebox1 it fits the screen) My form one covers the entire screen (I set the windows border from scalable to none). I need to make my program scan for picture files on different drives and then every 30 seconds or so choose a random picture from the usb drive and display it Posted below is my code:

I am designing a program to be similar to Microsoft image viewer. I want it to open on PC start up Full screen and I want to make it scan for Images on flash drives with the user doing anything. I am making a Digital Picture frame out of my old dell laptop and I would like to make the program for it. How to have it play a random image every 30 seconds or so...
The problem is that i am trying to resize pictures so they fit into a picturebox with good quality. I have found a code (se attached code) on the internet that resize the picture correctly but the quality is poor.
If i resize the picture in Adobe photoshop before i put it into the picturebox the quality is good so there is nothing wrong with the orginal picture or the picturebox. It's the resizing that is the problem.

I have some operations of Picture Boxes etc being performed. After the user finishes with the formatting, I want to give the user an option to print the work.But its the work is not done on the Rich Text Box but on picture boxes. I am not even sure, how many of the picture boxes would be there after the user finishes the job, since I have provided option for dynamically creating picture boxes as well.

I'm having a small problem concerning displaying maximized child-forms in a MDI-application. Everything works fine on Win. Vista but when I start the program on a PC with Win. XP it doesn't look very nice. I found some similar threads on the internet but no answers. Does anyone know how to display maximized windows in MDI properly? [Code] On Vista the child-form switch/appear really smoothly. On XP you can see as they are being maximized.

When the user clicks on a Menu Item i want the container to show some controls, now when the user clicks another Menu Item, the container needs to change and show other controls, and so on with every menu Item the user clicks, one at a time.
I thought of panels showing and hiding for every menu Item clicking, but that would use a lot of memory as ALL the controls would be created, some of them just not showing. I also though of an MDI application, but i dont want multiple forms (with the menu bar) opening inside one form. I just want the actual container of one form to change.
I am creating an application with mlutiple forms. When you click on a button in the main menu, the main menu will close and the new window will be diplayed. When you hit back on the new window, the main menu will be displayed.I know how to show new forms by using Form1.Show(). When I try to return to the main menu by hitting a back button I created, the main menu does not show up, but the program continues running. View 1 RepliesI am developing an application for an emergency services organisation using VB 2008 that will enable users to select a map zone of a city centre and plot icons onto it, then save/export the layered map with icons as an image.My problem at the moment is that I am struggling developing the point where the user imports in the icon (for example, a flame icon where a fire started) and drags it around the map within the picture box to the required area.I want them to be able to select their desired icon from a series of commandbuttons and for the icon to 'appear' on the picturebox and be enabled to be dragged around and dropped as required. The organisation already has such a thing working in Microsoft Word (!) and that uses the ActiveDocument.Shape.LoadImage function on a pushbutton to import the icon and then it is placed on the map as required, but this is really unreliable for them.I dont even know if you can layer images onto an existin picturebox within an application in this way and then export as a flat image.

The grid will display the type of shift (N for night, D for day) I just need some direction as to how to develop the calendar grid...I have a database with all the required information (I have a "Shifts" table, which contains the employee name, the date of shift, and the type of shift). Times are not relevant since employees will be either working a night or day shift (type of shift). I'm using VB9 for this project.
