I'm trying to retrieve values from a look up table with the selectedRows method. But i'm getting the exception InvalidCast. It says: Conversion from string "Codigo" to type'Integer' is not valid. Well my code is varchar not numeric.

I am trying to Query a table with data from another table and return a filtered result

Obviously doesnt work but the idea is thats the Value i need to put in the Value Column of dtlist In short the project, loops through one table(dtlist) of address's and gets the distances of it from the address's in the second table(dtsold) then gets the higest value from dtsold within a certain distance?

In the purchase order application im trying to develop i want a user to be able to select existing clients from n table in the access DB. in which will then fill a portion of the CLIENT detail section in the application. i want to then be able to uses these client details to create a unquie purchase order ID containing all client details aswell as the purchase order list for that client this such as products and labor or whatever is inputted in the fields. (I have attached a screen shot of a brief example of the form layout, might give you more idea. - screen shot made in VISIO)

As the title says, when I attempt to update a row in a table in a database, I recieve an InvalidCastException. I am unsure why, since the variables I am using should be, and indeed, when I check them at runtime, are filled with the correct data.
I am trying to update using the method wherein the row that is being updated is identified with all the variables already stored. Interestingly, Intellisense is telling me that EntryID, the primary key, is only necessary in it's original form, and that the variables that I am attempting to update have question marks after their type.

I have a login form that consists of 2 text boxes: txtUser, txtPass. Now these are not bound to any data table & I don't what them to be bound. When a new user enters his user name & password, I want to add these on a data table that has two columns: User, Pass. I currently have this working already for one of my combo box's, but when i try to use the same code i get this error ''There is no row at position 6.'' . The are 2 fields in the table asset_type_id, asset_type_name', im trying to dispaly the values in a combo box for the field 'asset_type_name.

I am using a string builder to set up an html table row by row so that it can be emailed. I currently gather my information from the database using a data reader and while dataReader.read, I use stringbuilder.Append to add each cell value to the table.The issue is that after about 200 rows, the html breaks and displays a cell value above the table in the email. I have tried changing the cell padding, but this was not successful.

I would like to retrieve the datatype of a specific element from a SQL table. The situation is that I am importing data from a source that does not match column-to-column with my SQL table. The objective is to compare the datatype from my source file to what it MUST be when I write it to my SQL table, and throw an error on a mismatch. Here is my problem:I have 2 tables Accounts and Transaction Logs.in Accounts table, it has column "Amount" which is a base amount of an account.and in Trans Logs table, it also has column "Amount" which is additional (add or minus to the base amount) amount of the account.and I don't know how to retrieve that base amount to edit it, then save it back to the table.That means I need to get a value of the right column by using Acc_No to find. i am new to vb.net and dont have any idea about using datareader.i am right now doing a project on vb.net and am facing an issue.i have a form, where in i have to select the matching records from the database and show it in various textfields. as far as the query execution is concerned, i have successfully completed it, but i am facing an issue now. Suppose, i have an Id of a student, and he has registered for 3 courses, when i give the query something like select students.studentid,courseid,midtermmarks,finalterm marks from marks,students where students.studentid=course.studentid;it gives me multiple records.my doubt is, when i get multiple records, and which is true(in the case a student has registered for multiple courses), how can i traverse through the resultset and fetch the values in the respective textfields.

I am trying to retrieve cell values from a datagridview.I am trying to use the DataGridView.Item().Value property to pull each cell value into a temp variable to it can be added up, but for some reason it is not accepting any variables that I use to count the rows, only integer values.Here is an example of the code I am using.

Is it possible to have a quick and easy way of retrieving the last 10 records from a table?
Currently what I have been doing is retrieving all the records then one-by-one cylcing through each record until I have the last 10. To me this seems to have a lot of over-head reading each record. I just wondered if there was a quicker way of doing it.
