I am using following code to get data from database and load to picture box

It gives error on DsPic.tblPicTest.Item("Picture")) portion of the statement.
I also tried
CByte(DsPic.tblPicTest.Item("Picture")))
but it gives the same error.

But it says can not convert Byte() to string.
My plan is to use a database to hold her recipes and create a user interface with search controls and different stuff, this way she will be able to add new recipe's and the program will have a much more modern feel to it.
My question is, I have added a picture box control to the new recipe form and when I click on the picture box I want the program to load "my pictures" and let me select a picture to load into the picture box, like you can on ebay when you are selling stuff, you can select your picture and it loads into the picture box.
As far as starting this off, I can add a double click event on the picture box control, this will trigger whatever code I need to use to load the open file dialog.
Can I use simaler code that I used for a text editor program I wrote for opening saved documents?
an application i developed using vb 2008 express, to fill a web form with data from an access database, one after another when a button is clicked hasn't given me what i expected. the loop was suposed to stop after filling web form with the first data on clicking a button and continue to fill the webform with the next(2nd) data from the database on clicking the button again. Is it possible in VB to truncate a larger data type ( an int with a value greater than 255) to a smaller one, say a Byte (which only goes up to 255) in a way such that the 8LSBs of the integer are copied to the newly created byte. I have tried this using CType with the following code, however it does not work.

Where the variable "Test" is an integer with a value of 419. This code always results in the Overflow exception.

Now where i click that button the other text boxes are filled up with the data from database thru web service.. what i want is while all text boxes are being filled i want to show an animated loading gif image till data loading is completed in all the text boxes.. i have tried to use image picture box but while data is loading gif image is displyes but in static mode.. cant see animation... i think this is because data loading and animation both are done thru one UI thread..
View 8 RepliesProblem is, i do have two forms. Form-1 is the parent and Form-2 is the child. Form-2 is having so many executable functions built in. Therefore when i am calling form-2 from form-1, always that takes few seconds to upload(although negligible).
Now I got a very nice ajex_loading.gif picture (moving) form Google and was thinking why not showing that pic in between my form loading process. Added PictureBox property. Telling it to show()...but still that is feeling shy at me

i know this is probally a really simple question but i have looked through my book and all my notes and googeled and couldn't find a answer that suites my needs.baisicly i have a combobox that gets loaded on form_load, what i want to do is load the appropriate picture into a picturebox when someone selects a item from the combobox. what i cant figure out is how to get the picture into the combobox using code. all the images are saved in my debug folder for the program. picturebox.image = picture.png this is what i asumed it would be but have tried with parenthises, quotes and both and it dosent work.

I would prefer the first as I believe it would be faster. Note the picture comes to us in a .gif format. I use vb 2005.

I create my algorthm and its finished but there is a problem, it encrypte all text and all text in a file but after decryption when i open my file (a video file)the player show all information about file(duration,size and ect) currectly but it dont play that my program encrypt and decrypt byte by byte and place a asci code in bytes(0 to 255)

I'm writing a C# application that reads data from an SQL database generated by VB6 code. The data is an array of Singles. I'm trying to convert them to a float[]
Below is the VB6 code that wrote the data in the database (cannot change this code):

The problem here is the VB6 binary to string conversion. The VB6 string char is 2 bytes wide and I don't know how to transform this back to a binary format I can handle.

I am attempting to retrieve byte array data from one in memory Datatable row and column and store the value retrieved in a different in memory DataTable row and column. The second DataTable is not associated with a database. I have not been able to save the byte array data in the second DataTable.
