Loading Contents Of Listview To Another Listview Which Is On A Different Form?
Feb 22, 2011
I have one form which calculates something and displays it into the listview but then when Print button is clicked another form will appear which has a differently layout but same information. And on that print form there is another listview, how I would load the contents from the first listview to the printout lsitview which is on a different form.
I have 3 forms, one frmMain - main form, second is frmUserType- childform, and the last frmCreateUserType. In the main form I have a menu item to open my frmUserType, In this form I have a button to open another form which is my frmCreateUserType, In this form I have a button to add records then update the listview in frmUserType. The problem is the listview will not access with my add button control in frmCreateUserType. I tried not to used mdiparent declaration for my frmMain and frmUserType as children and it works, so meaning that the problem is showing my frmUserType as childform?I am using vb.net 2008
Code to open my second form (frmUserType)

one I'm trying to load a INI file to a combobox then into a Listview but I'm returning with an empty variable. I have a INI file containing the following format:
I've got 1 form that has the user enter 7 fields of data. When they click my "Save" button those values are stored in a .DAT file.On that first form there is a button that brings up a second form with a listview control.I have all the headers set up but can't figure out how to populate the listview control with the contents of the .DAT file.A friend of mine told me I may need a Do while loop but this is my first time doing this and I am so lost. I don't even know where that loop would go and whether or not I need extra variable for it.
I am trying to print the contents of a listview to paper from a toolbar button. In the code below I can get the printer to function and print but cannot get the listview contents to print. I found an old post by Martyr discussing printing listview contents in debugger that was helpful but have not been able to figure out what part of the code to modify for the print sub to recognize the listview contents in the handler. This is what I have so far:
Private Sub PrintToolStripButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles PrintToolStripButton.Click Dim prn As New Printing.PrintDocument
[Code].....
The printer portion of the code that runs on the strip button works without any problems. If I use that button click code above and add something to the PrintHandler Sub like this:
args.Graphics.DrawString("Hello World With A Printer", New Font("Arial", 20, FontStyle.Bold), Brushes.Black, 150, 125)
It prints the "Hello World String" with no problem. The issue is I am not sure what or how to refer to the contents of the listview in the Print Handler Sub or if this is even the correct way to attempt this.
using the code below to save and reload the contents (text and images) of a Listview to a single file. The images are about 100x100 pixels. The problem is that if I save the images as JPG (they are already JPG when adding them to the ImageList/Listview), then after saving and reloading the data a dozen times, the images get distorted. When saving/reloading the images as PNG a dozen times, white spots starts to appear on the images. I guess this is because the images are converted over and over again when saving them.Is there a better to way save the contents of the Listview to a single file? I do not want to save the text and images seperately, because then the user has more to tamper with.

I'd like to go through all the items of a ListView control in order to ... well execute some code. I suppose I have to use the "For i=1 to ..." statement , but I am not familiar at all with this control. As I said , I'd like to check all of the items (the elements in the first column) and for each of them that has "Yes" on the third column , I would like to run the rest of the code .
I am making an application that loads lots of data into a listview. It takes a while to add the data (over 2000 items). Is there a more efficient way of loading these items rather than the standard way? Maybe a quicker control or something.
I'm trying to build an app using WPF and I want to display a load of data from some tab delimited log files in a data grid style. I know there is no DGV control for WPF so after watching a few "forms over data" videos on the MSDN site I figured I should be able to do it using a ListView with DataGrid tags within it.So after messing about with the XAML code for a bit I managed to create my column headers in my ListView etc and I can load data into it fine if there's just one column... but obviously I need more than one column.
So I thought fine I just create my extra columns and then use ListViewItem and ListViewSubItem classes to create the content for the listview and then add them to it. However, it seems that ListViewSubItem does not even exist in WPF and the ListViewItem doesnt seem to have any way of editing separate column data. For example, if I set ListViewItem.Content = "some text" and then add that to the ListView it just sets "Some text" in all 5 of the columns I have. All of the examples on MSDN are using data bound listviews and I dont want mine to be data bound I just want to manually load it with items.
However I need to interact with a program designed in vb from perl (yes I MUST do it this way....)
The control I need to get text from has a class TL80.C1List32.20 I believe this is a listview. I can get a handle to the control just fine.
I have access to the SendMessage function via a wrapper with this prototype: SendMessage( $hwnd, $msg, $wParam, $lParam ); (A $ denotes a variable in perl)
The listview also has 2 child windows of class: TL80.C1List32.20_SC which I believe are scrollbars.
I need to retrieve (but not set) the items in this listview via the wrapped SendMessage function.
I can provide any other information you'd like from Winspy++ or can probably dig it up on my own if you let me know what you need.
I'm having a problem with loading my MS Access Database. I can get it to load but it won't load in a row. My friend told me to try this but it puts all the information in a column instead of putting all the information spread out accross the row.
Here's my code: Dim lb_Connection As New OleDb.OleDbConnection lb_Connection.ConnectionString = "PROVIDER=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;DATA SOURCE = pass_database.mdb" Dim lb_SelectCommand As New OleDb.OleDbCommand [Code] ..... Also I'll attach an image of what the program does when I load it.
i have a listview and everytime I load a 10,000 data my listview hang up. Is there any alternative on how to load data to listview that will not hang up.
I can't claim credit for this code but I think it's cool. It will show the entire contents of an item in a tooltip even when the columns are truncating it. Drop a tooltip and listview container on your form with the default name.
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load ListView1.Clear() ListView1.View = View.Details [Code] .....
It has the ability to recursively grab all .wmv and .mp3 files in any chosen folder, and add them to a playlist. When opening the playlist, my program adds all the songs to an array, then starts adding the songs to a listview, categorizing them by song, artist, album, and genre, using a dll to access the ID3v1 tags on the .mp3 file.It can successfully create playlists of thousands of songs at a somewhat okay speed, the problem is loading that into the categorized listview. It used around 75% of my friend's CPU while loading his 5k+ song playlist into the listview, and it never finished after loading it in for a couple minutes (it auto updates as it loads, because it is done in a new thread.) It never finished because his OS has a bug where, if the CPU usage is over 100% for more then a few mins, it BSOD's, but that's beside the point.
His CPU, by the way, is a quad core 2.33 GHZ processor. The listview loads thousands of songs by using a lot of CPU [low amount of RAM, less then 40MB 99% of the time], and it does it slowly. [code]I've already redone the sub once or twice to speed it up, and at the moment it's 2-3.,
I have a media browser program I am building. I am trying to use drag/drop so a user can drag media tracks from one listview to another listview and then use the second list view as a playlist in windows media player com object. Reading at MSDN I have found out that there is no built in support for item re-ordering with the listview control. I have listview1 working correctly but when I try to reorder items in listview2, the dragged item ends up at the end of the list. So basically I need to get the item insertion index corrected. I have tried more than 10 times to get this code right.
Here is my code which includes a form with two listview's.
Public Class Form1
Private Sub ListView_ItemDrag(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As _ System.Windows.Forms.ItemDragEventArgs) Handles ListView1.ItemDrag, _ ListView2.ItemDrag
I have two listview in a separate form, basically what i want to do is whenever I select a row in my first listview the items in that selected row will be copied in my second listview which is empty.
I'm using ListView control, with SmallIcons style in VB.NET. Icons are loaded fine, but when I start to scroll ListView down or up from scrollbar (clicking from arrows), rowheight drops to about half from normal in next 20-30 rows below/above upper/bottom row (depends from the scrolling position). After 1-2 seconds, ListView is "refreshed" and scrolling continues normally. When focus in on the ListView and I'm moving up/down with arrow keys or PageUp/PageDown, everything is normal. Any suggestions, what is happening? SmallIcons size is 16 * 16. Is it compulsory to set "Blank icon" with SmallIcon size to all rows, when adding them or what? Wasn't like that in VB6, how is it in VB.NET?
i am developing a point of sales system. currently i have my product code scanned and displayed in a listview. lets say that i have 5 product codes displayed in my first listview. By clicking on a button, how can i use these codes to call upon the details (prices, product name, etc.) of the corresponding codes and display in another listview?
i am using Visual Basic 2008 and MsAccess as my database. who have the idea on solving my question. (As my last thread has not been answered at all..

I am having a problem regarding to pass all the data on the listview from one form to another and add another columns. The purpose of my columns is that I want to put text from there because I am sending a mail but I want to get the status of my message if it failed or send and write it at every end of the rows.
I have the code below and when I try to populate the listview it populates all of the listview items but only the first subitem. No clue what I've got wrong.[code...]
