View 5 RepliesI'm designing a player application to accompany our phone system. As our calltakers take calls, it makes recordings of each call. They can go to a list module, find a recording and double click, which opens my player. The issue i have is that if the calltaker gets another call, my player doesn't know it and will continue playing. I'm looking for a way to monitor the screen in a particular area and when it sees yellow or red instead of blue, it will pause my player.
The phone system does not have any API's that I can hook onto, so I have to try it another way.
The screen resolution never changes and the queue buttons where they receive calls will always be static. When they get a call, a small area changes from the background color blue to yellow or red to indicate a call.

The installation was fine When we tried opening or saving a project it saves it into a default location i.e my documents. The problem withthis is pupils dont have access to c:. View 3 RepliesI thought I had already done this in a previous project and also thought it was really easy but I am now struggling with this.All I want to do is get a list of all of the IP addresses that are assigned to the computer running my app. I thought I would use Net.NetworkInterface.GetAllNetworkInterfaces and then there would be a property on each item in that collection that told me the IPs assigned to that network card but it would seem not.
Searched and searched but the only 'solution' seems to be to use GetDnsHostEntry or WMI something similar and I dont like the sound of either of those. Surely if you can get the DNS servers IP address, Dhcp Server's IP address and Gateway IP address from the NetworkInterface instance then you must be able to get the local IP addresses as well?? I'm sure I am missing something obvious..

good database that I can use on a local machine to store names/addresses etc. and that integrates easily into .Net 2.0.I have used MySQL a fair bit, so something along that route would be great but without the need to install additional software on the computer or connect externally to a server.

View 1 RepliesBasically back in VB6 days, I created several VB6 apps with Access as the backend database. I'd package my Access db file with the application setup, which copied it on to a shared network drive, and then different computers on the LAN could use the same backend database file, and that worked just fine. With SQL and VB .Net, I've done work with a SQL database hosted on a remote server, so you can basically build your query string easily and anyone can connect to it from anywhere, and it works just fine.However, what I'd like to do is have a local SQL express database as the backend for a VB .Net application and make a setup program that can install it in a way that it could be shared on a Local area network, without the user who is installing the application do anything.
I know about building a connection string with the local machine name, but I don't really have any experience with including an actual MDF file with the application. Does anyone know how it works, and is it a better approach? Does it work similar to placing an access file in a shared unc path?I know that ClickOnce (which is awesome) can install SQL express easily on a user's machine. However, the key is that I want SQL express to be installed only on the machine that is going to be the database server in a LAN enviornment, and not on every machine, unless it is neccesseary. And then how does your VB app know how to build the connection string to access the database from any machine on the local share?

I am just wondering how I can add Direct X references to Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2. I cant find them in the .NET reference list, or the reference list, or anywhere. I downloaded the Direct X SDK for August 2009, but I can not add the .dll files to the reference list. Is there anything I can do to add them? I need the references for programming reasons.

when the user clicks on the add button another form launches, which enables the user to add student info such as name, address, course, start date and end date, this information is then written to class when the ok button on that form is clicked, and then displays the data on the initial form in data grid. the user can add multiple entries and they are all displayed on the intial form and a the data grid is populatedwhen any of the rows in the displayed grid is selected, and the update button is clicked then the same form launches as the previous one and but this time its in the update mode and pre populates the form with the inital values.

I am now asked to create a .net application and I'm trying to create a "Hello World" starter app. I opened my Visual Studio, click File-New Project and all I see is Business Intelligence Projects and Other Project Types. My step-by-step guide says choose Visual Basic, Windows Forms Application. But I can't see it as an option.
