I need to loop through all the records in a column in my access database, Currently my program only views the first record in the column and does not go any further, I tried a While loop but I get a NullException error and it says there is no data in my column, her is my code thus far.
I posted earlier with a question which was answered quickly and allowed me to fire through almost me entire program There is one last tiny thing I'm having real trouble with.I'm allowing users to search through my XML document for records. I can successfully search through the first record but my loop won't allow the search to go through the other 2 records.[code]It isn't the most efficient code to look at I know.As I said I can successfully search the first record but won't allow me to loop into the 2nd or 3rd record available.I don't know if my loop is wrong or if there is some bad placement with the code.
This code results in an error System.OutOfMemoryException
Using VT As New BidiEntities For Each dr In Bidis Dim hkBidi As New hkBidi hkBidi.UserId = Userx VT.AddTohkBidis(hkBidi) Next *VT.SaveChanges()* End Using
VT.SaveChanges() results in this error when looping through 500,000 records.
How do you loop through a name column in a DataGridView? What is the collection? The following below does not work.For each X in DataGridView.Columns("Name")Next
I want to search the records from the textbox and display the records to the datagridview, if there are no records, just display empty on the datagridview.

how to get an array of string from certain datagridviewcolumn,i try using this code,it doesn't work..
For Each row As DataGridViewRow In dgvPaketRow.Rows If Not row.IsNewRow Then Dim str() As String = New String() {row.Cells(0).Value} Dim strRes = String.Join(", ", modCommon.str) msgbox(strRes) End If
How would I do this? I have no code at this time for it, but how could I do this?
I have an Inventory table that contains a lot of Trash Containers (Construction Dumpsters).
All of these containers have a field in the table for their "Size". If I wanted to quickly change all of the price for all Trash Containers that have a Size "40", how could I loop through the table and for each container that has a size of "40", I want to change the price lets say from $100 to $120.
I have an asp.net application where I have a datatable ("DataTableA") that returns just one column ("ProductID").
I want to read each row of "ProductID", process some business logic, then copy both those columns (ProductID & ProductIDBusinessLogicValue) to DataTableB. This DataTableB is then displayed on the asp.net page.
What would bhe the best way to read each row of DataTableA ?
I have produced some VBA in Access that creates a spreadsheet.I have also created an SQL query that retrieves records from an Access table.I have 48 tables (each table for a specific institution centre).I have created another bit of VBA code that creates a spreadsheet and loads the records from the query in to the spreadsheet.Each centre has a unique Sequence Number (Indent Number)At the moment though, all I can do is import one table (records for one institution) in to a spreadsheet. I want to end up with calling the function and having an output of 48 spreadsheets being saved to my desktop, each spreadsheet containing records of a different center.I have thought about putting a loop in, but not sure how I would quite go about it.
Here is my code to create the spreadsheet:
Public Sub ExcelExport(lngIndentNumber As Long, strFolder As String, strCrit As String, strReport As String) ', ctlLabel As Label, DoCmd.SetWarnings False
VB GridView control will not allow code in the vb code file to access a data column that has its visible property set to false. When it is set to true, the data column can be accessed with no problem. Any suggestions as to how to correct this? I have looked through the documentation, text books, and I have not found anything that gave me any clue as to what the problem could be. I thought that the property was just applied to the column, not that it would remove the column from being accessible.
I have a datagridview that is bound to a dataset by dragging it onto a windows form. I want one of the columns on the datagridview to be read only for existing records (rows), but I don't want it read only when the add new icon is pressed on the navigator. How can I tell when a row is being edited as opposed to being added?
I am trying create a program where when a user clicks on a button alongside a record in a gridview (I have created a button column in the grid), it shows that particular record in a new form. Also I would like make the user able to view a report of that particular. Hope I have made myself clear.

I have TextBox1 whose Default text is Sumit and a gridview with records and button field in each row ..On Page load eventI want if textbox1 text is Sumit .... then all the records in gridview1 whose name column values is sumit .... then that rows Book button will be disabled and rest of all will be remain as it is in Enableed form Is this coding is right : ?
Protected Sub GridView1_DataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles GridView1.DataBound For Each myRow As GridViewRow In GridView1.Rows
Customer | Product ------------------ A | Car A | Bike A | Boat
[Code].....
If I use a normal JOIN then I get a list of friends for every separate product. I just want the two lists once.
The output lists with '-' need not be table cells, they can be <ul>s.
How can I achieve this? I would like to bind to ASP.net GridView. Should I try to do it all in one query, or use multiple queries and somehow add them both to the same Grid?
Each row actually forms part of a long report. Essentially each row of the report contains Customer ID, a bunch of other fields which match one-to-one with Customer ID, then the two lists for each Customer ID I described. Perhaps I can use a separate query for each list, then manually add each list to the grid on RowDataBound or similar?
Currently working on a project to automate the input based on the Summary file (xls format)
1. I want to be able to do the following: update, append, delete and populate the records to the various files based on two distinct fields, column A & F (see attached file).
2. Researched the process, requires knowing VB codes, are you familiar with this language? If so, how can I simplify the process? Please advise.
I have 3 combo boxes full of data. I have an access database with a table and 3 fields. I am using the following code to insert the data from the combo boces into each field of the database. The program runs and I get no errors but the data is not going into the table.
Dim DrawCount As Integer = 0 Dim DateStr As String = "" Dim TimeStr As String = ""
I am developing a Windows application that reads from a database and creates a total and subtotals for the records in the database. I am supposed to include a Try...Catch statement that reads the records in an Access db table and adds an item to the ListView control for each record. Each field in the record should be added as a column in the ListView control.
I have already gone through and created my Form_Load event that creates the columns needed in the ListView. I have created the beginning of the Try...Catch statement that opens the database connection. I do not know the syntax I should be using to add the record to a ListView control.Normally I would use something along the lines of to read the data:
add edit and delete records in access using vb.net.i got textbox 1 to5 and three buttons which named addnew ,edit, delete.my database is in name records.mdb i want user to enter the information and click addnew button and the system save the records and so on with edit and delete.
I have been trying for a month to get a row added to an Access database and can not do it. I have the databindings all set and can select different records, but can not add a new one. I have tried BindingSource.AddNew.row() but can't figure out how to add data to the new row, nor does it show in the database.
I have tried
Dim ds As New myDataSet '<---Change this to the dataset name on your form Dim dr As DataRow dr = ds.Tables("Students").NewRow
[Code].....
But that doesn't do anything at all. No data added, no errors. I have tried updating a datagrid to be told it can't be updated when bound. I look on google and nothing seems to relate to adding data to an access database when bound to the project through the datasource wizard.
I am using OLEDBConnection and OLEDBDataAdapter and connected to the MS-Access databasehow can i add the textbox value to the table in database on a button click and want to display it in datagridview??
I'm creating an application that adds and deletes records from a microsoft access database. The language I'm using is VB2008. I am importing the database through a wizard. I can add records and delete records, but I cannot delete a newly added record without closing the form first. When i reopen the form, I can delete the record. Here is how I have my database setup:
'Bind user info to the controls. AUSERDataSet = New BulldogUsersDataSet AUSERTableAdapter = New BulldogUsersDataSetTableAdapters.UsersTableAdapter AUSERTableAdapter.Fill(AUSERDataSet.Users) ' Setup the binding source. AUSERBindingSource = New BindingSource
copying some record from a table in the same table,changing only the fields of the data(month);- copy last month record fields, and the new records have to date, last month+1(actualy month);- i wish to be a button, like update or copy, to do this;- new filds are added every month;- how i do that?
how to do it, but the tutorial is not applicable on the program that I wish to do. The tutorial tells you to add 4 navigation buttons so that you can navigate the database(first, last, back, and forward). Then an update and delete button. But if this is what I will do, it would take 10 years to navigate the database and update a record. Now, what I want to do is just for the user to input a unique ID and click search button(which I have already done). Then the update would be easier. How can I update or delete a record using this method?
when this button is click, it will retrieve all the records in different fields in MS Access 2007 and display onto the RichTextBox. But when i run the code and press the retrieve button, an error occurs. (NullReferenceException was unhandled. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.) Plus im sure my code to display records on richtextbox is wrong as i created another project purely with a button and a richtextbox, only the last field in access is displayed.

I have a project to work with an existing Access 2007 DB table using Access Currency data type fields. I've tried many, many, many variations on what I'm doing, including using a command parameter or using this scheme and trying dOLEc in my command string (as shown below).
Dim dOLEc As Long = Decimal.ToOACurrency(dQ)
It all works fine (db connects, inserts record OK, closes connection) until I introduce any currency variable (WMoney is my example below). Then it returns Syntax Err 5 in INSERT INTO statement. Current VB string for the execute non-query command is:
Dim sdbcommandString As String Dim dQ As Decimal = 8950.13 'control test--no currency field--works perfectly every time sdbcommandString = "INSERT INTO Workers (WFullname,WRay)VALUES('George D. Jones','abcdefg');"
'but add the currency data type to it and it bombs
sdbcommandString = "INSERT INTO Workers (WFullname,WRay,WMoney)VALUES('George D. ZZZZZ','abcdefg'," & dQ & ");"
As I said, though perhaps not too clearly, I've also tried variations on this theme:
sdbcommandString = "INSERT INTO Workers (WFullname,WRay,WMoney)VALUES('George D. ZZZZZ','abcdefg'," & dOLEc & ");"
In all cases, I use the same code to connect to my db and use
OLEdbConnection1.ConnectionString = sDBConnString OLEdbConnection1.Open() OLEcommand = New OleDbCommand(sdbcommandString, OLEdbConnection1) OLEcommand.ExecuteNonQuery()
And I've tried it using variations on this theme where :
sdbcommandString = "INSERT INTO Workers (WFullname,WRay,WMoney)VALUES('George D. ZZZZZ','abcdefg',?);" OLEdbConnection1.ConnectionString = sDBConnString OLEdbConnection1.Open()
[code]....
I need to use to make it work with a currency field?
