I am using Visual studios 2010, And what I am trying to do is make a card game, and I have some ideas for how to put a lot of it together however I am having trouble getting started with making the cards to begin with.So I need something to call to represent the cards with numerical values with ace being 1 and king being 13.
I need to make a matching card game in VB 2010. i have generated my cards but now need to show the cards for 10 secs then change the cards to (AppPath & "Cards ed.png"). then when a user clicks on the card the card will flip over.*How would i set a timer to turn all my cards into*(AppPath & "Cards ed.png") after 10 secsbut still have the values from the array and when i click the cards they flip over (from red card to numbered card)
Code: Private Sub Place() Dim Counter As Integer = 1 For Row As Integer = 1 To Int_Grid_Size
I am working on a poker game and I have the game setup the way I want it in terms of graphics and I have the code programed to deal the cards out exactly how I want them. Granted, the code is very simplistic, but functional for a new programmer like myself. I'm sure there are other more efficient ways to code my game, but I like mine so far because I can at least understand the majority of it. With that being said, here are a few problems and questions that I have.
1. How come when all 12 cards are dealt out I have some cards repeating in the game? For example, I get queen of diamonds in more than one picture box when I only want the card to be dealt once and then removed until the next game.
2. I was hoping to have a button 3 to clear all the boxes, basically resetting the game to the next game. When I hit button 3 it only clears the contents of picturebox 10 and 12.Other notes: I have the deal down the way I want it. It deals the first 10 picture boxes and a second button deals the 11 and 12 picture boxes.
3. I know this is my next step so I want to post it with the code I currently have. I want to start taking my project one step further by evalutating each of the three rows of cards (3 rows of 3 cards each - I'm not worried about the dealers hand (picture box 10, 11, 12 yet). So I want to evaluate a row of pictureboxes against a "pay scale" and display the win in a text box or label next to the 3 card hand. For example, Q of diamonds, Q of Clubs, Q of spades would win 15, etc. ( have a weird feeling I may have to change the names of the cards (I have them named card1, card2, etc. right now) to something that identifies them in order to evaluate the hands.
Here is the code that I currently have. I'm using visual basic.
Public Class Form1 Dim Rndm As New Random Dim myPB(11) As PictureBox Dim HiddenCards As New List(Of String)
Check Score: The winner is the one with the highest score less than or equal to 21If both scores(player total and computer total) are over 21, or if both are equal but under 21, the game is declared a draw.
There is something wrong with this line: If intPlayerCardTotal < intScore And intComputerTotal < intScore Then MsgBox "Draw"
As the title says i have a deck of Italian Scopa cards (40)and I want to stop them from being delt once they have been used can i do this with an enabled/disabled or should i find a way to move the individual pictureboxes arround to do it
I am trying to create a card game on microsoft visual studio 2008. But i am finding it tricky to get the right codes for the generating button. The button wiill display three random playing card suites and when all three match the user is declared the winner.
Below is the code that we have been working on. We have bolded the parts which we are unsure about - they are producing errors. (its near the bottom)The program is designed to generate a random hand of cards out of our list of them. This program is a smaller version of what we hope to have in the full one - ie. It tries to get a random hand of 3 cards out of a possible 5.
The part we are having errors with is getting the images to display on each of the 3 'picturebox' objects using a loop (so we don't have to type each picturebox individually).
I'm making a speed card game [URL] for the final in one of my programming classes. I'm looking for a little assistance with how to go about getting it done the best way. I've included the code I have so far below. How does it look? What would you do differently? Would you do anything the way I did? I need to have one AI player and a human player.
I am trying to make a card game which can be played over the internet between users. I have already downloaded the cardGame Starter kit for Visual Basic. I plan to modify it to the game I want.I had worked with Sockets (Client-Server App) a long time ago for a small chat program for computers connected in LAN.I had the following questions:How should I start off with this Application, should I first just concentrate on making the game and then progress to trying to figure out how to make it playable over the internet?
Or should I do it the other way round? Can I attain my objective using Sockets? or do I have to use something else?Is there a tutorial available to start me off? (I Googled and "Bing"ed it but to no avail)

I have conditional code checking in a card game Im working on and it just feels wrong.I m looking for a better way.Right now, all my functions return a card. If I get a card Im usually done and can fall out of my nested structure. If I dont get a card I have to test a condition If card is nothing. And this condition gets repeated ad-nauseum.Here is a small sample of the code.
card = FindMaxTrump(playableCards) If Not card Is Nothing Then 'If we found a trump at all[code]....
This might be a fine way to do it, but the constant check for a null card is what has me wondering if there is a better approach I'm missing.
I am looking to create a video poker card game using visual basic.I have limited knowledge of visual basic 8 but was very curious about visual basic 10.
I am currently working on a program for a higher or lower card game. I have my game set up and in place, however I am having trouble keeping track of the cards that have already been drawn from the deck. I am only playing with one deck and need to make sure that once a card is drawn it is placed in a discard pile and will not be drawn again. I did not post my code due to other students in my class using this forum for their version of the assignment. If someone would be willing to take a look at my code I can send it to you via private message.
How to move a card in a solitaire game using vb.net 2008?is there anyone who can help me out here?its just that im a beginner and i want to know more about vb.net when it comes to games specillay in cards like solitaire...
First off, what I'm doing here is trying to read in information from a magnetic stripe card, parse it, validate certain parts and go from there. I'm working on two classes... the first is CardClass and that represents the card itself (well, the data obtained from the card). The class is CardParsingClass. This holds all the card parsing rules.
At one point in the process, I will create an instance of the CardClass. That instance gets passed into the CardParsingClass.ValidateData function:
CODE:
This function steps through each of the card parsing rules and applies the rule to cardCurrent to see if it passes (i.e., is valid).
And here we come to the meat of it.... what I'd like to do is define an event called FailedCardReadEvent. Whenever I raise the FailedCardRead event I could write to the log that it failed, modify variables in the CardClass (particularly the state of the card read variable), etc. So, the way I'm looking to use this would be something like this:
CODE:
So as shown above I'm thinking I should code a FailedCardReadEvent in the CardClass. But I don't know how to do that.
I also don't see how this is different than just calling a subroutine. If I have to manually raise the FailedCardReadEvent isn't that the same as calling a subroutine?
I know I'm missing something but I'm just not getting it. I've spent some time googling this morning and read a few things but I'm just not understanding how it all works.
I am making a Game Trainer in vb.net, this is the current code I have.
Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices Public Class Form1
[Code]...
I can read from the memory address fine, but when I try to write to it nothing happens, no errors and the value does not get written. What am I doing wrong?
Alright, well im making a launcher for a game i play. and i want to make it so it says how many users are online. and im not sure how to code that out??
would like to make a solitaire game in visual basic however do not know where to start. Could someone please give me some direction and help as to how to build this?
I am working on a game using Visual Basic.NET and XNA. I am having trouble making the map scroll with the player. I can move the map at a square at a time(32x32) but I don't like the way it looks. I want to move at a fluid rate if possible. I want the player to be able to walk half-way through a square then see a half-square to either direction your moving. IE: Walking left, walk half-way through a square then to the far left of the map see half of the next square going to be drawn. But I don't want just half-way, I want to be able to just have fluid movement where you can walk to an 1/8th of the square and see the next 1/8th on the other side of screen if possible... To open this project and view you must have Windows Phone SDK installed can get it from Microsofts website......Note:Only up and down movement have been added into the game.
I can currently make a dialog1 pop up, then the user clicks "Yes" for dialog1, then dialog2 pops up, and if the user clicks "no" instead of "yes", dialog2 reappears again. I've got a headache now, but I will re-look over my code to see if there are logic errors.
I originally had dialog2 and form1 (the form1 was acting as dialog1). But The thing was that I do not how to give properties of a dialog to a form (i.e. not make the user be able to click other windows while this form is open) IF I could have code that says Me.bringtofront (which I have tried) didn't work though. If I apply this command to a form I get an error:
code: Form1.showdialog() error: Please make form1 not visible. something a long those lines. But what I don't understand is form1 was never open.
I'm making a blackjack game for class. It's been better programming in VB than it has in C#, but I don't know how to link button subs (BTN_Deal_Click or BTN_Deal; I can't decide which one will work) to one another. For example, after the code in BTN_Deal has been run, the program is supposed to wait for the user to click either the Hit or the Stand button.
I am trying to make a Chess multiplayer game in Visual Basic. Its a two player which will be played in a normal way and not even over LAN. So far, I am done designing the board.
My logic is: First, on clicking any square, the click event handler will check whether a piece resides on that square. If not, then it checks if a piece is to be moved to that square. If both are negative, then it does nothing.
Now, the problem with this is, how do I code the click events? Also, I have represented the board using a 2dimensional array. But how do I update the positions after every move? And how do I check whether legal move is being executed? One more thing I want to add is whenever a piece is clicked, the possible legal squares should be highlighted.
For this, what I did was, for every click event on any square it checked if there was a piece. If there was a piece, then it highlighted all possible moves for that piece using If-Else-If logic, but it turned out to be too cumbersome and too long. And another problem which arose was, how do I know that if the user clicks an empty square to move the piece there?
I am currently in the process of making a snake game using VB.NET... I was just wanting to gather ideas on how to do the body of the snake..Currently I have a class called SnakeBody which contains the following code:
[Code]...
I guess what I am asking is if Dim body As PictureBox a logical thing to put in my class. As in, I am not sure if that is the correct thing to do? To create the actual body of the snake I will have an array of these SnakeBody objects. If `'Dim body As PictureBox is valid How do I reproduce the same picturebox everytime my snake eats something?
Well the thing is im making a tool for a game(No hack)the display is like this Name : [here a text box] Time : [Here can be laber or textbox] [start] [stop] [reset] in the first textbox the user who is using the program have to put a player name and in time when they click start in the second textbox or labe it should start countingdown from 1 hour 1:00:00.Stop only stop the time but let the time where it was and reset to reset the time.so when the time get to 0 something should pop up with the name of the player that the user put in the text box like MsgBox Frolox's time has finish or something like that but it have to appear in top of everything.
