Memory Management When Insert Massive Data To MSSQL?
Apr 23, 2009
I have 200,000 rows data need to be inserted into MSSQL 2005 express. I have 4G memory. From the beginning, there is 2.0G used. Then, I use microsoft text driver to load text file into datagridview. Memory rise to about 2.8 GB.I start write data row by row from datagrid view. Memory usage keep rising , then OutOfMemory exception is catched.I try to use GC.Collect and for System.Data.Odbc.OdbcConnection , I also try .Dispose(). But it is no use.How can I keeing the memory within about 3.0GB for this usage ? I monitor .vhost.exe. It rise to more than 1G.
I have an ItemsControl in a ScrollViewer. The ItemsControl.ItemSource is set to the Observable Collection.Every time I add an item to the collection, my application nearly doubles in memory usage and eventually after enough adds.
Here is a rough sketch:
<Scrollviewer Name="MyScroll">
[code]....
Using ANTS Memory Profiler, I can see all the class instances in my App. When I start the program, I have 150 instances of TextBox (There are three in the datatemplate). When I add a studyunit to the collection, I have 303. Adding another leaves me with 456... 609... etc.The studyunit objects inherits from dependency objects and I am only binding to its dependency properties. I made the studyunit a series of dependency properties due to this article: [URL], but it didn't fix anything.Update 2/22/2010. Here is the actual code (code above was very simplified and created from memory)
Private Sub ObservableCollectionChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Collections.Specialized.NotifyCollectionChangedEventArgs) If e.Action = NotifyCollectionChangedAction.Remove Then 'q removed
Coming from more low-level languages like C++, and seeing how transparent .NET memory management is, I've got a concert about a piece a line of code I've written. In C++, every object necessarily (dictated design practices and peculiarities of memory management) needs to have a constructor and a destructor. In .NET, destructors aren't needed as often, and there are different patterns of when they are required and how to use them. My question is this. If I have the following like of code (in VB.NET, but equally applies to C#)
a) Dim strName as string For i=0 to 100 strName=GetName() do something with strname Next
b) For i=0 to 100 Dim strName as string=GetName() do something with strname Next Out of a and b which will be faster and consume less memory
Public sub GetResourceAttributes() Dim colreSource as object .using the colresource colresource=nothing end sub Is sentencing'colresource =nothing'is good programming technique or is it enough to leave nothing done on 'colresource'. Like GC will take care of 'colresource' when there is no reference to the object.
I have an application that requires the use of many threads. How do i monitor the memory consumption of my application? And how can i monitor the CPU usage of my application if possible? And is it possible to monitor the memory consumtion and CPU usage of each of these threads? And is it possible to limit or prioritize the memory consuption or cpu usage of the whole application or of each thread?
I have an application which I've developed which queries Active Directory information and stores about 15 properties into a Datatable which is kept in memory. I need to decrease the amount of "Commit" memory it is setting aside. The application stays active in the system tray and allows for quick searching of information along with pictures for users. I have a class, which is able keep memory usage down pretty low. It runs on a timer every 10 seconds and listed below:
I am trying to Insert/Delete records in a MSSQL database based on if a checkbox is checked or unchecked. The checkbox is an item template in a datagrid, I can check/uncheck the checkbox but it doesn't do an insert or delete. Here is my code:
[Code].....
But then I get the error that the control chkmap has not been declared. I am confused as to how this needs to be declared, do I set a variable to the FindControl("chkmap") and then set it as variable.checked = true ?
How to insert and retrive multiple asp.net checkboxes values to MSSQl database as comma seperaed string 1,2,3,4,5 using vb.net ? and retrieve the inserted checkbox chekched in disabled form ..using vb.net url...I want this type of whole layout in vb.net means if user registered selected seats then then next the same page load for todays date the selected seats will be disabled
I'm watching tutorials about creating Web Site and about controls.I think I added SQL Database to the project (it's not empty) properly. Suppose it has two columns: FirstName, LastName.I have TextBox1, TextBox2 and Button1 on the web site form.I enter any integer number (5, 10, 15 or whatever) into TextBox1. I want to press Button1 and get a value of 5th person (10th, 15th or whatever) from SQL Database into TextBox2.Who can help me with that? Should I read about ADO.NET and use something from there?Later I want to use VB for work with that strings.
currently developing the backup and restore procedure of my database....and im using the SQL UTILITY[URL]..but...i was thinking if is it possible to obtain the Data Source or the Server name automatically...when the form load.
I want to store rich text from vb.net to mssql database. My question is what will be data type in mssql to store rtf information. Also is there any free control availble to show basic buttons to conntrol formatting for rich text box like colors , fonts, etc. as i found standard rtf control in vb.net just show the text box and no way to format the text in rich text box.
from picture at above, i just generate all file to get filename , title and MD5 hash.. but, how can i save all data from picture (datagridview) into MSSQL server?
Dim Dr2 As New OleDb.OleDbCommand Dr2.CommandType = CommandType.Text Dr2.CommandText = "SELECT... FROM... WHERE..." Dim Dr1 As OleDb.OleDbDataReader Dr1 = Dr2.ExecuteReader
The above code was originally written in VS2003 to retrieve and display data from Access 03 database, and runs without error. In VS2010, this code is throwing a "Command Text was not set for the Command Object" error and points to the last line as the source of the error.
I have a problem with transfering data from MSSQL Server 2005 to Access.
I need to make a VBScript that can take out all data from one table in mssql and update one table in Access. The tables exist in both databases and looks the same, but there can be more data in the table from MSSQL Server so i need to update the table in Access with this data.
E.g. I have a table called: SMP_Alert in both database's. So i want to do something like this (dunno if that is possiable):
Set objConMSSQL = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") conMSSQL = "Provider=SQLNCLI;Server=127.0.0.1SMP;Database=SMP;Uid=SA; Pwd=smp;" objConMSSQL.Open(conMSSQL)
[Code].....
Or do i need to create a recordset of the table (SMP_Alert) from MSSQL, and loop through it to transfer the data into the table in the Access database?
I am trying to construct a data management application for work. I had this working fairly well then moved over to VS 2008. When I am submitting my data via the button it is giving me a null exception error on the call sub.. Here is the code.[code....]
I'm have a data management program. I've fixed everything in it, except when I run my Insert or update commands on a different computer I've installed it on, JIT tells me that the collection has be modified, it then gives me the option to continue or quit. I know it's been modified, the user knows it's been modified, how do I get rid of that?
i am developing a small windows application in vb.net using visual studio 2005.i want to design a form where user can enter multiple records.like we want to design a "bill" form where user can create the bill for any no of items.there are 4 colmns in it : item no , item name , quantity , price.
my requirement is that if user user a particular item from the list of item in first column then the column "item name" get filled automatically from the database. then user can enter qty , price for that item.on clicking a save button all the data entred by user should get saved in a table in SQL database.
now user can create bill for 1,2 or more items. so no of rows are variable.
HOW could i achieve this using vb.net and SQL server 2005 as databse.
I'm in a project where it's pretty much my first time doing all the architecture myself, and I'm running into a frustrating situation. My architecture for forms seems to be correct from a heuristic perspective, but I don't think its implementation is correct.
My architecture is thus: Base Class: OrderForm Child Classes: PurchaseOrder, Invoice, Credit
I finished a database access application that accesses and retrieves data from a database. It was working perfectly fine until i was commenting the code and i decided to test the program again and i found that across all my forms i was getting the same error which is the[code]...
How do I transfer data from Excel 2007 into Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express as shown below? I try copy and list of data in excel as shown in the screenshot.. But when I paste in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express.. Only the first result is past inside..
I'm trying to update a data user using vb.net2008 and sql server management studio express for my backend. the error says "must declare the scalar variable "@username"
Here's the code .
Private Sub btnupdate_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)Handles btnupdate.Click Dim connstring = New SqlClient.SqlConnection("Data Source=MISD-
I use visual basic 2010 professional edition. I am working on a project on it with access on the backhand. i want to view the data in datagrid control for the stock management. I also want to setup a query in the query builder which will search the database according to the ID but i cant get it right i dont know why. i type in the form filter this: LIKE @ID + '%'. But when i click somewhere else, an error appears which says: Data type error in expression.
We are thinking about changing our current database system, MS Access 2007 front end and MS SQL Server 2005 backend to using a higher level language such as Visual Basic .Net. I wonder if this is the BEST solution for data management? Currently, among others, we have two big database programs that handle more than two hundred users and it's crashed often. That's the reason we think about changing to something that can handle these database programs effectively preferably using MS technology such as .Net.
im in the middle of doing sql queries i can search my data base usingGetDateFrom (Select, from, where) Me.nameTableAdapter.FillBy(namenDataSet.descip, Me.box1TextBox.Text,Me.box1TextBox.Text, Me.box2TextBox.Text, Me.box2TextBox.Text)i have this working fine im struggling with inderting data to my databse i have made the query ..
I am developing vb.net windows application. I am trying to insert data with insert command.I am getting the insert data as long as the application is running. But when i close the application and reopen again the inserted data was not in the access database and i am getting no result. what is the problem, is it in code? i am using like
strsql=" Insert into table(col1,col2) values(val1,val2)" selectCommand as new oledb.command(strsql,strConn) selectCommand.ExecuteNonQuery()
Not inserting in the database but showing in application. how?
