Jan 12, 2010I'm watching tutorials about creating Web Site and about controls.I think I added SQL Database to the project (it's not empty) properly. Suppose it has two columns: FirstName, LastName.I have TextBox1, TextBox2 and Button1 on the web site form.I enter any integer number (5, 10, 15 or whatever) into TextBox1. I want to press Button1 and get a value of 5th person (10th, 15th or whatever) from SQL Database into TextBox2.Who can help me with that? Should I read about ADO.NET and use something from there?Later I want to use VB for work with that strings.

I need to make a VBScript that can take out all data from one table in mssql and update one table in Access. The tables exist in both databases and looks the same, but there can be more data in the table from MSSQL Server so i need to update the table in Access with this data.
E.g. I have a table called: SMP_Alert in both database's. So i want to do something like this (dunno if that is possiable):

Apr 23, 2009I have 200,000 rows data need to be inserted into MSSQL 2005 express. I have 4G memory. From the beginning, there is 2.0G used. Then, I use microsoft text driver to load text file into datagridview. Memory rise to about 2.8 GB.I start write data row by row from datagrid view. Memory usage keep rising , then OutOfMemory exception is catched.I try to use GC.Collect and for System.Data.Odbc.OdbcConnection , I also try .Dispose(). But it is no use.How can I keeing the memory within about 3.0GB for this usage ? I monitor .vhost.exe. It rise to more than 1G.

Bind Combobox To A New Query?
Dec 2, 2009I have a combobox on a form. It works but I want to filter it with a constant value. I don't want to change the query in the dataset because that would affect other programs. So I click on the little arrow on the combobox in the form design view and then click on Add Query and make my new query which I preview and it's okay. The problem is I can't find any way to make the combobox reference the new query. In the properties for the combobox the Data Source is just the binding source. How do I specify a specific query?

But I'm getting a design-time error that says "Overload resolution failed because no accessible 'Average' accepts this number of arguments." I realize that I'm missing an overload here, but I'm not sure what to use or how to do this. I'm pretty new to LINQ. I've got a dataset in memory that I'm querying, and there is a double-precision property DCFSA, of which I'm trying to get the average based on my query above.
Fill Combobox With Database Query?
Apr 28, 2010I am having a problem with filling a combobox with unique values.Im not very good at vb either so I will explain what I have done so far.
1. I added a combobox to my form called Combobox1
2. I clicked the little triangle widget thing on the ComboBox1 set the dataset to MyDATASETDataSet1
3. Display Member: CurrencyCountry, Value Member: FCode, Selected Value = None
4. I fill MyDATASETDataSet1 when the form loads using:
PricesTableAdapter.ComboBoxQuery(CurrencY_DATABASEDataSet1.Prices)
ComboBoxQuery =
SELECT DISTINCT [CurrencyCountry], [FCode] FROM [Prices]
The form does not load, i get the error: Failed to enable constraints. One or more rows contain values violating non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints.If I replace ComboQuery with Fill Query (which is the default fill command) it displays results....but not unique results, i see the same items being repeated throughout the list in the combobox.I guess my questions are:
1. when you fill a dataset do you need to select all the fields when you are creating your query?
2. if i simply wanted to perform the following lookup:
SELECT DISTINCT [CurrencyCountry], [FCode] FROM [Prices]and set the combobox Display Member: CurrencyCountry, Value Member: FCode how would I do this in the code?
3. how can i change my query to display only unique values, distinct doesnt seem to be working?

Oct 7, 2009I'm designing a login screen which MUST allow the user to ONLY select a login via a combobox. A user has THREE login attempts only, the problem Im experiencing is resetting the count if they hilight the combobox, move the selection around but ultimately click on the original name.I can use either SelectedIndexChanged or SelectionChangeCommitted but they are both activated even if the same login is selected.So you can select a login enter the password twice and then click on the combobox move the selection around before finally clicking the original name and the login count is reset to 0.Is their a way to do this without using variables to store the previous value (perhaps using validating/validation methods)?

Here's the query:
