I am trying to fill a combobox using the results form a query to combine two fields (first and Last name). I cannot seam to get to the query through the table adapter. I can set the binding source and select one of the fields to fill the control but I cannot get to the query's.

Frm2 has textboxes which populate based upon the location selected from cboLocations on frm1. I am currently having a headache on how to solve this problem that i am facing. here is the situation: I have a combobox and a list box on the main form. The combobox will get the data from the ms access database. In the database, i have the details of a person's IC, Name and DOB say for eg on one entry I have D215311523C,SHAWN,13/04/1987 So now, my combobox on form load will show the list of dates in the database to allow the user to search base on the date itself by clicking on the selected date. So when the user clicks on the particular date say 13/04/1987, people in the database whose birthday is 13/04/1987 will be shown on the listbox.Meaning to say if i have 3 entries whose dates are the same 13/04/1987, 3 entries will appear. If there is only two entry, then two results will be shown. But now, when i do a single click on the date, one result will be shown. That is correct. But the problem is when i click on the same date again, three of the same results will be shown on the list box. that is it will display : 13/04/1987 13/04/1987 13/04/1987 which is not the case. Then it will show more duplicates of the same results if i click more times on the same date which should not be the case.

I have cascading comboboxes and when I choose the value for the first one everything is fine. But when I try to choose the value for the second combo the value of the first disappears. However, the second combobox is populated with the appropriate values and then I have to choose again the value for the first one. This is the code:

I have a button where when I click on it I want to display in a msgbox the value of the first column(field) of the highlighted row (i.e. the name of the first filed-column is Code).

The SQL string won't return data from Access. I've tested this exact SQL String in Access and it works fine.First of all, Am I getting a SQL query from Access in the proper manner?Second... should I be using a stored procedure for this? Or is making a query from tables like this a good practice? Third, if I'm doing it right, why won't Access query return and fill my dataset?These are the results I'm getting.

I have an access query which plays flawlesly in Access.I want to use it as a source for a datagridview i use in one of my forms but....given the fact that is a rather big query with some "like" and conditions like ">3" and so on AND the fact it uses tables from 3 different mdb (not to mention is bases on other queries...i 'ill try my best to fix this) what is the best approach .
1st case .Can i retrieve the data simply with NO oledbparameteres and NO " select * xxx where yyy like 'd' ".I think there is a issue with the Oledb connection that "omits" them.To explain better the query right now with the filters in access returns 3 rows, without the filters 30 rows,can i get just the 3 rows to do my job... 2nd case . How should i fill a datagridview using tables from 3 different mdbs.If you can show me an example it would be life saving.
I want to check some values in a sql db without populating controls. I can select the row i want, but for some reason my mind then hits a blank, maybe its because its monday.I want to check a few bit fields in the row and if 1 - do something, if 0 do something else. In this case depending on which bit fields are set to what, id like to enable/disable various controls on my form.

Trying to do a mysql parametrized query and i'm having a little issue.

It errors on the executenonquery. Says the column rootforestname can not be null. i don't under stand why it does not fill in the value in the command text.

I think it is the "onkeyup" thing that isn't getting fired properly so the dropdown list isn't updating itself... it was working fine before, and now, with no changes, it just stopped working. can someone take a look at my code and see if they spot anything? EDIT: attached an image of the dropdown box in question. as I type, it does the lookup. (using the onkeyup event). I am setting the value of the dropdown to the five digit code at run-time, trying to trigger the onkeyup event to get it to get the full line, but it won't work.

with about 8,000 names. It uses classic ado. The vb6 code does it in about 0.75 of a second, the first vb2005 code does it in about 5.5 seconds while the second vb2005 code does it in about 4.5 seconds. Is there any way to improve the vb2005 performance a fair bit more?

I have a combobox in a form, I want to fill it with names I have stored in a database. I know I have to use the fill command, but I am not sure what code I need to use. I imagine I need to place this code in the form load event, where I wrote my code to connect to the database. Do I need to create a sql fill command, select Names From Users, then execute that command in the combo box object.

I tried the code below but unfortunately, all i get is a combobox with U,s,e,r,s, as each line in the items collection and not the filenames of the relevant files.
the DirGetPath("Users") Function below returns my default document and application paths and appends "Users" to the end as the relevant files are stored in that Folder.
All I get is a combo box with the items as U, s,e,r,s (i.e. Users spelled out).
