Trying to do a mysql parametrized query and i'm having a little issue.

It errors on the executenonquery. Says the column rootforestname can not be null. i don't under stand why it does not fill in the value in the command text.
I want to check some values in a sql db without populating controls. I can select the row i want, but for some reason my mind then hits a blank, maybe its because its monday.I want to check a few bit fields in the row and if 1 - do something, if 0 do something else. In this case depending on which bit fields are set to what, id like to enable/disable various controls on my form.

I have created a parameterized query in my tableadapter. Here is the SQL:

When I use the Execute Query button in the Tableadapter Query Builder, the query works fine; I get all the rows I expect. However, when I run this in my code, the query behaves like an equality statement (i.e. Lotnumber = @Lotnumber) rather than a LIKE statement (Lotnumber LIKE '%' + @Lotnumber + '%').Here is the code that is not behaving correctly. Note that I have a textbox, LotSearchTextbox, where I enter the portion of the Lotnumber that I want to use as the filter. I also have a button, LotSearchButton:

why the query works in the Query Builder but not in the code?

I was trying to do this before by simply concatenating the textbox value right into the SQL and I was getting a "No values given for required parameters", and read that that I should use parameterized queries instead. So I tried this and it doesn't give me any errors, but the reader never has anything in it. I've never used parameterized queries before, so I'm a bit lost as to why this isn't working. I've changed the above code to account for OLEDB from what I briefly read on how it should work, and it's giving me the "no values given for required parameters" again.
I keep getting this error :
The parameterized query '(@AdminEmail nvarchar(4000),@AdminPassword

View 1 RepliesI solved this issue in this thread but there still are issues with special chars. ie 'I thought by doing parameters that it would take care of any special chars for you. Well i am still getting mysql exceptions about syntax. I look at the string it is working with and it has a "'" in it.Why are they not working as I expect them to?

The program I wrote back then and some code samples here both point to doing the code as I did so far:

I wrote this little function to allow me to pass an ArrayList of Strings and then based on the table passed to pre-build a SQLCommand like so

Now I know that much like mysql_real_escape_string() VB.NET has a Parameter ability to make querys safer. How could I parameterize the values during the build of the string.
[code]Myself and a coworker have stared at this quite a lot and we can't figure out why it's not working. The problem is in the value for @ID (since it still works when I leave the other one parameterized). The funny thing is, Just a few lines of code above it I have a different query that sets a parameterized value for the same ID, using the the same choices list that the For Each loop is getting the match variable from.Choices is a list of longs, and when I use choices(0) to parameterize ID in a query, it works. But now down here in this loop I have the new match long, and it doesn't want to make it work for me.
View 1 RepliesI'm getting the error: The parameterized query(@CustomerID, @ProductCode, @DateOpened) expects the parameter @ProductCode, which was not supplied.For one thing, my INSERT query has five parameters, not just the three listed in the error notice.
Another thing, I supplied @ProductCode in the AddWithValue statement.
Another thing is that I don't get the error when I change:

MySQL databases exists for saving values as strings (text only). Is there any way that i could store files with the same speed as a mysql command ? I know that it depends on the file size but lets say that the file is "Avatar.jpg" 50KB... I ve tried FTP but this is not what im looking for. e.g. You want your users been able to upload a file like the [Add This Attachment] button does in dreamincode.net and you dont have any background on PHP/HTML/Javascript/ASP.NET just VB.NET and the basics of MySQL plus you dont want to use it for a website. How do you accomplish this? Something silly that ive tried was opening an image as text then update the mysql server with that text but it didnt work backwards after i wrote the text on the file and oppened it ...it said that the image was corrupted.

The date being entered via the code is in format dd/mm/yyyy, i need to search in the database using yyyy/mm/dd? Ideally i thought there may just be a function within MySQL which will convert this. If not in vb.net to convert the string 01/01/2011 to 2011/01/01?

The SQL string won't return data from Access. I've tested this exact SQL String in Access and it works fine.First of all, Am I getting a SQL query from Access in the proper manner?Second... should I be using a stored procedure for this? I have an access query which plays flawlesly in Access.I want to use it as a source for a datagridview i use in one of my forms but....given the fact that is a rather big query with some "like" and conditions like ">3" and so on AND the fact it uses tables from 3 different mdb (not to mention is bases on other queries...i 'ill try my best to fix this) what is the best approach .
1st case .Can i retrieve the data simply with NO oledbparameteres and NO " select * xxx where yyy like 'd' ".I think there is a issue with the Oledb connection that "omits" them.To explain better the query right now with the filters in access returns 3 rows, without the filters 30 rows,can i get just the 3 rows to do my job... 2nd case . How should i fill a datagridview using tables from 3 different mdbs.If you can show me an example it would be life saving.
I am trying to fill a combobox using the results form a query to combine two fields (first and Last name). I cannot seam to get to the query through the table adapter. I can set the binding source and select one of the fields to fill the control but I cannot get to the query's.

with about 8,000 names. It uses classic ado. The vb6 code does it in about 0.75 of a second, the first vb2005 code does it in about 5.5 seconds while the second vb2005 code does it in about 4.5 seconds. Is there any way to improve the vb2005 performance a fair bit more?

Then, I have a Loop that adds records to the array. The problem is that my array is not filling values from the loop. I know VS2010 handles arrays differently, but I have this same code working fine for me in VS2008 ASP.NET application. Below is a sample of the code.

If I run a MySQL query at the same time I have a timer going, the timer lags, even though the query is on a seperate form. My computer has 8GB of RAM, so I doubt that that's the issue. Does VB stop the timer to run the query intentionally? Is there a way to prevent the timer from stopping/ lagging?
