I'm looking for a way to combine a field from multiple tables into a single field in a new table. Because the data populating the tables is coming from an outside source, I would prefer not to change the data in the original files. I have a separate table for each year because this is the way the data is provided. The field layout is not consistent from year to year, but each year there is a field that we'll call "score." I'd like to pull the field "score" from each year's table and have it populate a "score" column in a new table along with the year of the data so that all the years' scores are in the same place. Is there a way to do this using Visual Basic + Access?
In my system each member will have an address and so do no other entity.I choosed to put address in a seperate entity but there exists two inconsistencies.
1- While the one and onlt entity which address is being used in is member, why should I consider it as an independent entity?
2- My adress fields are address 1, address 2, ...., address 6 which I think the naming convention is not good enough.
I'm currently refactoring an old Visual Basic DLL (VB.Net), which stores all of its data in one module called Globaldefinitions as public fields. There are about 200 fields, referenced thousands of times all around the code:
Public Module Globaldefinitons Public a As Short ... Public zz10 As Double
[Code]...
I need to change the module into a class with non-shared fields. This means, each and every of these thousands of references needs to reference the instance of that class:
globalDefinitionsInstance.a = 5
How do I go about this efficiently?
Regular expressions operating on the source fall flat. Refactoring tools like Re-Sharper or CodeRush don't seem to offer this functionality. Visual Studio 2010 cannot do it automatically either.
Class Foo ReadOnly name As String Public Sub New(name As String, dependentUpon As Foo) Me.name = name
[code]....
The output of New Bar() is:
Dependent created. Dependent upon nothing. Independent created. Dependent upon nothing.
It seems fields are initialized in the same order as they appear in the source code, which (a) leads to an unexpected result, and (b) seems a little puzzling, given that one is normally not permitted to read from uninitialized variables in .NET, yet that seems to be working fine above.I would've expected VB.NET to be smart enough to initialize referenced fields first, and only then those that reference it; i.e. I'd have liked to see this output instead:
Independent created. Dependent upon nothing. Dependent created. Dependent upon Independent.
how to get VB.NET to behave like that instead, without simply having to swap the declaration order of dependent and independent inside class Bar?
I'm trying to create a table in Word using data from a table in Access. There are four fields in the access table that I need. 3 fields are text which I can populate the Word without any issues. However the fourth field is a memo with >255 characters.I'm struggling to come up with the proper code to allow me to populate the Word field with the memo data that has more than 255 characters. The code I have so far is listed below. But when it hits the memo field, it crashes on the line I marked with **. I know it's not text, but I've tried many different field types, but nothing has worked so far.[code]...
My intent is to have the code - on a button.click event - check the Username and Password fields and return an error depending on which is wrong. Or if both are wrong, return a different error message. I've set the username as parts and the password as parts (still learning how to use external authentication). [Code]
I have several sqldatasources for my gridview. All of the columns are autogenerated. However they all have some consistent fields and I'd like to make those fields template fields so I can modify the edit template for them such as adding a drop down menu. Is this possible?
Are there any IP Address filters or masks available in Windows Forms as per following screenshot? A backslash shouldn't be allowed or it should be filtered somehow.
SocketException was Unhandled: Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted I get this error every time i click collect a second time.

I'm trying to use the DHCP API (using the references on pinvoke.net) to retrieve a computer's MAC address when given the IP address but I can't get the code to work. I've run all the C# code on pinvoke.net through the C#-to-VB converter but I'm stuck now.
Here's what I have so far. The value of res is always 5 (should be 0). Thing is, I can't find any documentation on what the return codes mean
vb Private Sub GetMACDim client As String = "1.1.1.1" Dim server As String = "0.0.0.0" Dim si As New NativeMethods.DHCP_SEARCH_INFO si.SearchType = NativeMethods.DHCP_SEARCH_INFO_TYPE.DhcpClientIpAddress si.ClientIpAddress = Convert.ToUInt32(StringIPAddressToUint32(client)) Dim res As UInteger Dim oInfo As IntPtr
experience on how to create an engine using C# (VB.NET is okay too) that is generic enough to handle most cases of MS Word text fields I need to fill with data I'm getting from a database? In short, I'm about to embark on this little Office automation excursion and I'm hoping a little bit of feedback here.

I wrote an application which converts .doc files into .pdf. Now I would like to add one more thing: before converting the .doc file, which is selected by the user, I would like to add the content of an other (default) .doc file, which will not be selected by the user but the directory where the file is will be already in the code, in front of the file selected by the user. So after the two files are merged I will have the merged file converted to PDF.
I have a Main Table that contains all the distinct values in a DataTable.DataColumn. also have a Child Table that contains distinct values created by the user.I want to merge the Child Table DataRows that match on the Value column with theMain Table DataRows to create the New Table (shown below).I want to preserve the values in the Selected column of the Child Table. Here is my problem, if I use the DataTable.Merge method the DataRow that contains "888" in the Child Table is added to the New Table, but it doesn't contain a RowState = Added, thus I can't filter for added rows to remove them.
I have two folders at different locations but with the same name. A file is generated in one of the folders and it is to be copied to the other folder but without overwriting the existing contents in C#.File.Copy overwrites the contents which makes me lose the previous contents. Is it possible to merge the contents in the folder?
I have a PDF template with 1 field on it: Barcode I have a CSV with about 800 records all containing 1 field; Barcode I know how to open de Template and assign a value to a field. And how to write a new PDF with the right barcode on it.But my problem is that I want to create 1 PDF with 800 pages. Thus, not 800 seperate PDFï and then merge them into 1 but I would like to write the content of the memory stream into 1 pdf.

I have 2 DataTables in vb.net. Each is populated from it's own stored procedure. Table A contains a project number in the first column. Table B also contains the project number in the first column. Table A could have many records that have the same project number, but Table B will always have just one record in it per project number. I would like to append the data from Table B to every matching record in Table A. How would I do this?

I have an access 2007 Database where I store several different "Jobs" such as repair job, data recovery job etc.
At the min I have a form where the user can view a customer's related jobs either by type, or all jobs related to the customer. I'm trying to do this by adding each job type to it's own DataTable, then merging the DataTables into one.
Private Sub rdoShowAllJobs_CheckedChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles rdoShowAllJobs.CheckedChanged '####################### Procedure Level Constants and Variables ########################### ' Dim dtDataRecoveryJobs As New DataTable
[Code]....
What I want is for the first column, ID, to contain the primary key from each table, but when the code runs it adds each primary key column from the tables to the end of the AllJobs DataTable! Am I trying to do something impossible here or is there a way around this?
