Merging Two Datasets Into One Grid
Mar 20, 2010I have two datasets called ds and ds1 that I want to merge into a grid. I get data from the first dataset to display in the grid but the second dataset where I want to display a count I don't get any data from it. I am trying a ds.Merge(ds1). here is the code i have for the sub. What am I doing incorrectly?

Sep 22, 2009I am trying to merge 2 datasets from 2 different servers, SQl 2005. I need to take 2 fields from one table and five from another to create one merged dataset and bind it to a datagrid, in an 2008 ASP.net application. The first table I will be saving to is empty just the table schema is there, The second table that the datagrid is populated by, has two columns containing dropdown box and a text field for user to edit these fields, these will be saved into the first table along with the user information, and a time stamp, but when a user pulls this information again the changes in the datagrid will reflect these changes.

Mar 29, 2011I have two databases. One is an SQL database and the other is an Access database.
In the Access database, I have a table with three columns EMPID, FIRSTNAME and LASTNAME.
I load this in my VB program to a table called "EMPID_Table"
In the SQL database, there is a table that has a lot of data that I need to retrieve based on the Employee#, which is the same as the EMPID from the Access database. In my VB program this is loaded into a table called "WagesTable"
How can I merge these tables, or add the columns FIRSTNAME and LASTNAME to the WagesTable
to the correct Employee# in my VB program? I cannot change the SQL database at all, I can only read from it.

Apr 13, 2010In a nut shell what I am trying to do is, pull one or more tables into a datagrid view. I am having one heck of a time returning multiple datasets. I can eleect all indavidually, but when I try to select more than one, I only get the last "table" in the list. If I could establish a ODBC connection that would be better, but this will have to work for now with some canned queries I have.

Nov 26, 2008I have an Access table that contains "Customer Number".
I have an ODBC dataset (iSeries IBM Client Access, or AS/400 data) with a customer table in it. I want to link the customer numbers in the access table to the ODBC table so I can show the customer number from the access table and the customer name, city, and state from the ODBC table.
I want to display this information in a grid. I also want to be able to add records to the grid (which adds them to the access table). What is the best way to get started doing this? I am using VB2005. I could use MS Access and have it done in about 2 minutes, but I want to take the plunge and learn VB2005.
But this VB2005 and .net thing seems like they re-wrote the book on programming and I cant seem to get a grasp on it. I have tried several projects like this in hopes of learning, but ended up abandoning them in frustration.

Jul 12, 2010I have a form with multiple DataSets (filled by multiple Stored Procedures) and corresponding DataAdapters. Associated with the DataApters are commands for UPDATE, INSERT......... Before using the DA Update I am using 'If DSxyz.HasChanges(). It seems that when I make a change anywhere on the form affecting 1 dataset, all of the datasets show this to be true. Why should changing one dataset on a form cause all of the datasets to show changes?

1. Rows should be able to group together (like in a TreeView)
2. I can put icons in the cells
3. I can add color to the cells (like in a RichTextBox)
Does anyone know about a FREE (or a low cost) control which support those requirements? Maybe DataGridView does support those functions and i just don't know..?

Mar 18, 2009I have a listbox with several list items added. I want that as user click on an item, I should be able to show its property. This should change for different items. For example (hypothetical) : Listbox has numbers 1 - 10. Now when I select 1 I should be able to set property - Name, Lastname, Colour, Age.
When I select 2 I should be able to set - Age, Hair Colour (clr shows), Weight, Date. When I select 3 then - City (combo box drop down), Country, Age only. This way value changes for diff items. One way is to put them in property grid and show them. Though this looks nice but adding/removing items in that is not easy. You need to have a class that refer that to prop grid. Do I have to code for each classes for all values in listbox or is there an easier way to manage items in property grid. If you think prop grid is not the right tool for such an activity then can you suggest something else.

This works fine. But when the grid is dropped on a TabControl tabpage, the ctrl-tab looks very different to the sub above. e.keycode is seen as controlkey {17} I realize that by default cntrl-Tab moves between tabpages. I need to override this behavior. My thought is I probably need a subclass of the tabControl which will pass the keycombo through just as the form does but I confess to being clueless as to how to accomplish that. I tried to override the onkeydown of a tabcontrol subclass and just issuing a return and not and base call to onkeydown if the ctrl-tab combo was pressed but it seemed to see the e.keycode as controlkey as well.

Dec 26, 2008need to have a summation field in each row of a grid in visual basic. Each row needs to calculate the remaining quantity of its row and all other rows beneath it. Thus the subtotal field in the 1st row would equal the sum of the shown quantity field for the entire grid.The next row would include its value and all those beneath it. Its subtotal value would be less than the subtotal of the row above it (by the quantity value of the 1st row). My code for the grid is very simple I just can't figure out how to add this iteration.
