I have a problem when i am passing negative value to "AddMinutes" function.The problem occurring when i subtract a value from the "00:xx:xx".[code]When it is trying to subtract, it is throwing the "Un-representable DateTime" error.How do I do the subtraction of minutes in this scanerio?

I have a function that allows a user to enter numeric vallues and also a period for the decimal points but I also want to allow for users to enter the minus sign to allow users to enter negative values . How would I go about it.

My question here is, what are the negative effects of using a generic function such as this? Calling this function does work, and in a test console module, it compiles perfectly fine. I do know this is not a strongly typed function, and is %100 bad practice. But it works perfectly. The purpose of a function like this, would be to handle string input that needs to be inserted in a particular format depending on the type. I also read some other questions on this here on stackoverflow, and suggestions pointed to using (Of T) functions, and variations like that. Why not do it this way? or is there another simple way of accomplishing this without creating a whole nothing class or larger amounts of code.[code]
View 1 RepliesDateDiff for the interval Day gives expected results for days past until present, but if the first date is further in time than the second date, it gives the difference +1. Is there something I'm doing wrong? For example, if I put in today for both, the difference is 0. If I put in yesterday and today, I get 1. This is all expected, but if I put in tomorrow and today, I get 0, and two days from now and today give -1. Why is the function giving altered results if the date is negative?

When I add MasterTable a new row via bindingnavigator and save via savebutton autoincrement field goes -1 -2... negative values hence cannot get correct ID numbes saved in table rows till I close open sample application. How can I see correct autoincrement ID numbers in gridview after savebutton ?.Just ID numbers saved to mdb.but cannot see them i gridview and displaying negative weird numbers. This problem is important because without getting ID numbers cannot bind Detail table rows to newly recorded master table rows.

I have a program that calculates values of a function, say f, with respect to another variable, say L.I have an array of f(L), for L going from 0 to a given integer value, say t-1 in steps of a value i.I need to export the values of this function to an Excel spreadsheet in a given column, and to do this, I would like to re-index the function f, since i is much less than one, and so the following loop I use (see below) won't work:

The first code in the loop will essentially load the values of L itself, at which the function is defined and calculated, and the next line will load the values of the function at each value of L.Since the indexes of the row and columns in an excel spreadsheet only go in steps of 1, I need to convert the indexes of the function, or the indexes to which L is loaded, so that it would be scaled so that the first entry corresponds to L=0, but the next is L=i, but loaded into row number 2, etc.
I'm creating an emulator for a device to simulate wave forms. My challenge is that when I try to convert the output of the following code, I can't convert the Math.Sin's double output into byte values that lend themselves to the byte array format required by an existing graphing control as listed at bottom below. I''m not sure how to handle this when the sin function creates negative values but the byte values will need to be positive and basically 'shifted up' so that anything over 127 is negative. (0 - 255) unsigned. BitConverter.GetBytes has been suggested but THIS is the result of that attempt.

View 7 RepliesI currently receive spreadsheets from clients which include several date fields. Since these are coming from many different sources, the date formats can vary widely (although they will all be US format). It could be "April 19, 2010", "4/19/2010", "2010-04-19", etc. I would very much like to use the DateTime.Parse function rather than having to write my own parsing function--I don't want to have to write out every possible combination of date strings.
The problem is, the DateTime.Parse function includes default values if all values are not supplied. So if the field comes in as "03/2009", since no day was specified, the function will return a datetime equivalent to "3/19/2009" (today's day along with the values given). I cannot use this. If a client provides a date that is incomplete, my program must produce an error, not fill in default values for them. Is there a way to tell DateTime.Parse not to use default values? Or perhaps there's another function that can parse multiple string formats into DateTime type without using defaults?
I am using VB.net 2003 application program. I am trying to do a select statement whereby I'm searching between 2 datetime values that are being stored as datetime. records are stored inside Access. For example, I am searching between 2 datetime:
StartTime = 2/23/2009 9:00:00 AM
EndTime = 2/23/2009 11:30:00 AM
So I need to find all the records in between 9:00 AM and 11:30 AM on 2/23/2009.

I need to execute a stored function in oracle or sql through vb.net. I created a command object. Depending on the database type(oracle or SQL) i am preparing the Command text as Select functionName(?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?) from dual; (For Oracle) Adding the parameter values of the function. Now performing the ExecuteScalar which is not working saying invalid parameter. This works with ODBC connection string. But ODBC doesn't with 64bit. My Requirement: Code should execute a user defined stored procedure by taking the values at runtime.

The Format() function which is supposedly a Visual basic function gives the error:

The Year() Function which is also a VB function gives the error:
Name 'Year' is not declared.
The Datetime() Function which is also a VB function gives the error:

The actual code statement remains unchanged between the two web services but VS2005 compiles and VS2008 does not.

I've managed to get the data back okay from the tables but what I want to do is filter that data dynamically based on values input by the user from a combo box and a date time picker. Each of the data grids display production data for a machine but the combo box and date time picker will allow the data to be filtered by shift and date respectively - how to I pass the values of these to the SQL query returning the data?

When the form loads, the timer starts ticking. As soon as the current DateTime matches the value of the variable, it shows a message in the label. When I'm writing the following code, the values don't match even if the current system DateTime is equal to the variable. Label1 isn't showing 'Times Matched':[code]The default format of 'Now' is the same as I have stored in dtmVar variable. So there's no question of format mismatch. Does that mean 'Now' is not actually a DateTime property? Provided, my O.S. is Windows Vista Ultimate and all date/time settings are set to default.
