What used to be C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication Data is now Win7 as C:UsersPublicPublic Documents or similar..This folder is not part of the Environment.SpecialFolders list. View 1 RepliesI have to create a project management application in VB.Net Framework 4 which should create a client folder in a public folder in Exchange server.
I think the only way to create a public folder is through the management console. Is there a way to connect to the Exchange server and execute the creation command file from the code but I do not know how.
Below is an snippet from my project template. I have some classes I want to link to in the project.One of my developers created the template and I copied it to my PC.It seems to work on his, but when I create a new project, instead of keeping the hard coded path the "my documents" gets replaced.I know this is a little cryptic, but I was hoping to flesh the question out with your questions.[code]

I managed to add controllers (to CS_Code folder) and make them running. However, I have to use some code from aspnet pages.
When I try to call method from page I ma having compile time error

In our VB.Net application, we need to get the path to our data folder in Public Documents. In our standalone application this is straighforward using the SHGetFolderPath function. However, for our network application, we run into a problem when we load the application on a Win 7 server and run it from a Win XP workstation. From the workstations, SHGetFolderPath returns the workstation's public documents folder instead of the what we want, which is the server's public documents path.Is there any way within the application to query the public documents path on the server?

I would like to know how I can zip a folder on a webserver and download it to the client machine via a submit button.Currently, I have the files displayed as URLs so that the users can right-click and "Save Target As." But I think just having everything zipped in one file would make it alot easier for the users.

My program will get all the files in that folder then allow the user to pick one of the files. When a file is picked, the file changes the context menu strip completely. I can't figure out how to do this. I figured it could be done with a class library but I guess not. Any help would be great. And some extra info. I need to be able to externally code the file so that when a button in the context menu strip is pressed it does whatever the files tells it to do. How can these things be done?

I've been struggling with this problem in VB.net for a while: whenever I try to access the My Documents, My video's or simular in Windows 7, I get an access denied error. The program that uses this code is a file-backup application, so it's important it can access everything. I have a quick question. One of the functions in the program I am writing is to take all of the data entered, compile it into an HTML document, then place that document into a folder.For the past few days, I have just been using a random folder on one of my hard drives to dump the file in, but the problem is that, in my code, I have supplied the folder location as a string ("E:Practice FilesDocuments"), and therein lies the problem. Trying to test my program on a separate system brought the bug to my attention; obviously, this program can only write this file to a location of E:Practice FilesDocuments, and if any other computer that runs this program doesn't have E:Practice FilesDocuments then there is going to be a problem in the program working the way I have intended
So what I would like to do is instead of having it write the file to "E:Practice FilesDocuments," have it write to the default My Documents folder so that the program is no longer specific to my machine only. The problem is, though, I have no clue what the right code is to use. I first tried using
System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().Location to write the file to the default installation directory. This would have worked, but since this is a VB.NET program, the default installation directory isn't in Program Files and doesn't seem to be meant for users to browse through for their documents, plus it seems that trying to write back to this directory causes some unhanded exceptions and whatnot. I figured it would just be easier to create a folder in My Documents rather than use the install directory (and probably smarter).

I've noticed web sites and code samples that show coding to connect to a database and I've tried that with success. But I'm wondering what the difference is between the two and which is better to use. The only difference I can tell so far is that by using the wizard, the textboxes on my form are bound and I have a lot less coding to do. By hard-coding the connection, I have to bind the textboxes in code. Is that the only difference?

I know i can use a billion if then statements for each admin i have but that will be thousands lines of code afterwards. So I thought up maybe i can check the column name admin and see if its set to true. Or even check another table to see if the user is in that table then load a different form.

View 3 RepliesMy Visual studio crashes every time I open a specific project, because before closing VS2010 last, I forgot to close a .vb file that I had drug to my second monitor. The issue is likely related to floating tab wells in the VS Productivity Power Tools extension.now when I try to load the solution it will progress part way, but when it tries to reopen the documents that had previously been open, it crashes hard.anyway, I am trying to find out where VS stores info about the code documents that were open at last project close, so I can clear it out.does anyone know where VS stores info about the previously opened code documents? I've checked the project and solution files but neither appears to hold this info. I know that the location must be within the project however, since getting a new version of the codebase from source control corrects the issue (but I still have code to check in...)
