Notify Win App When Data Added Through Web Service?

We have a .NET 2005 windows application that gets its data from a central SQL server. There is a web service that is exposed to other applications that allow the external programs to add data to that exisiting database.
Is it possible to notify a user in the Windows application that a record has been added using the web service?
SCENARIO User A: In windows application viewing all personnel
User B: Adds new personnel record via web service while User A is still browsing in the window forms application.
Is it possible to have User A notified of this change?
I have a parent window which has a ListView that is bound to an ObservableCollection that gets it's data from an XML file. On the parent window, I have an add button that opens a opens a Modal Window (form2.ShowDialog(), I think this is a Modal window).
In the child window I have a few text fields and an add button, the user enters data for a new record and clicks the Add button and the XML file is updated with the new record.
What I am seeking to do is when the child window is closed that the ListView in the parent window is refreshed to show the new record.
When I am updating the XML file from the child window, I am doing this directly to the XML file, should I be adding the data to the file in some other manner which would raise an event on the ObservableCollection?
I was heading down the path of adding an event handler to the add button on the parent window and attempt to force a re-read of the XML file, but I cannot figure out how to achieve this, below is what I have done so far.

I cannot workout what should go into the refresh_EmContacts sub, do I need to call some kind of ObservableCollection event handler to notify it that it has been updated and to do the re-read?
I new to vb.net. I used following code to add new row in my "customer" table. Following code does not give me any error. Still data is not added to database.
I have a program that adds controls on the fly to an auto-scroll panel. When the panel is scrolled (viewing the bottom of the panel for example) and a control is added, it looks like it is added assuming the top left corner of the panel is still at 0,0 when in fact it may be 0,500. i have a Windows service that is hosting a WCF service through net.tcp and this is working great. I have also created a WCF service application. I am trying to add the net.tcp service reference to the service application. Then I add it to the GAC that goes ok but if I try to RegAsm the WCF service application to allow it to be called from Server.CreateObject I get the error:

It does not work. I have tried to call it through a class library but this does not work either as the end point is not set correctly.
I've a question about vb.net application with ms access 2002 database.I use "Add data source" wizard to setup a connection to a access database.my application read text file into a temp data table at runtime.a button click to import data from temp table into one of access table.problem is data is not added at all.here is the code I use to do update

I have added a reference to the System.Data.SqlClient, but i am not able to use its components while coding, But when i import it in the form class i able to use the component.
So,Is importing a namespace and adding a reference two different things?
I have a form where i can enter new product. In that same form i have listbox where i show the current product from the database.
I want to know how to update that listbox as i enter new product into the database so that user can see the current content of the product table.

To sum it up, what i want is something that will refresh the current display of the listbox so user can see the actual and updated contents of the database.
with the above code, the newly entered product/data can only be seen when the program is closed and reopened again. Which is not very convenient.
I have a Datatable where i added data from textbox when i want to edit selected datatable rows from gridview to eidit these values will be showing in their respected fields but when i click update button the only first row in gridview will be updated either i select first row or any other row in gridview for editing whereas i want to update the selected rows data. when i add the record it saves and returns the save message box as it should and is viewable in the database where it saves to, but it is not viewable in the text boxes when looking back at the form until i close program and re open it, then i can see the record stored in the database, it just wont update the form,[code]
I got the problem on updating the resit number after added the new data.. for the next time i go to the same form, the resit number would not increase automatically but maintain with the same number.. except if i debug my system again,the number will increase..
i have multiple forms in a project and all have statusbar. there is no way to add textbox on status bar but in my previous thread i got the help to add the text box. i created a function in module so that i call that function from all the forms on load and add the textbox on status bar and also add the event on textchange. the function to be called on event change is in individual form (at present)[code]
I am creating a datatable and then adding a column to it which is filled with data from existing column and parsed into correct format DateSold is my existing column from my datafile and I create NewDateSold by adding the column to the existing table and then parsing the information in date format.
This is added to a binding source which then is used to populate a combobox I want to be able to sort the combo box by NewDateSold Desc I was able to this on the original column by simply using the "order By" in my query, it seems now that I added new column it is no longer sorted? I am finding different solution such as using dataview and wish to know the best way to do this
I have successfully added textboxes to a form at runtime. I have also succesfully added an event handler to these same textboxes. What I'm having trouble understanding is how to refer to these textboxes programmatically after they have been added. Specifically, how do I;
1) Retrieve user data entered in those textboxes without an event handler
2) Find a specific one of those textboxex later (is looping thru all controls of type "textbox" the only way)?

I am getting an incorrect repsonse after an update to a table. In my RowUpdating event I have the following code which builds an Update Parameter to call an SP to update a table. I must be doing something wrong but everything runs fine. My rowsAffected variable reports 1 after the update, but the table never gets the data.[code]I found a solution that is working. On the original DataSource for the update command I needed to add the following.[code]This in essence allows the original data source to call the SP. Note: that the command type needs to stay as TEXT not Stored Procedure as one might think.
I have been working on a project which is used by a company's sale team, to combine all the wanted input data in one place allowing the sales team to show customers, where switching to them could save them money.
Basically what i want is a program which can save single records, which can hold data added in other text boxes, or indeed take the data from the list view boxes which is the intended output. I want to be able to save that data, then be able to Open it up again at a later date, and even modify it.
enabled me to save the three ways to identify a single record, the index number, company name and the date it was added. However I now need a way to save the data entered in my other forms to these single records.
I cannot find a way to get LINQ to spit out xml the way they want. Question is, can LINQ do it or do I need to resort to hardcoding the xml the old way before LINQ to XML?
I have three tables: BOOKS(BookID, Title, Author) CLASSES(ClassID, Title, MajorID,BookID) and MAJORS(MajorID, Description). I added these three tables to a LINQ to SQL class (UBooks.dbml) and then connected to the data sources. Then declared DataContext.

Next I need to display all majors in a listbox. I would like the description to be shown however I am only getting the majorID to display with the code

I have tried db.Majors.Description, however I am told then that Description is not a member of the LINQ table. and my final goal is to display all the books for whichever Major is selected in another data grid. This is what I am primarily concerned with right now. When using the SQLClient classes, I was able to create a string joining the tables (also had the description properly showing in the listbox, but that is of little importance right now to me). In the video tutorials I was able to watch whenever the tables were dragged from the database into the OR designer of the LINQtoSQL.dbml class file all of the associations were already there and the narrator only really had to do some drag and drop. Not only is drag and drop not working without these associations, but I'd much rather learn the code behind it.
I have a VB2008 application which can control a windows service i.e. start, stop, pause etc. This runs ok on a Windows XP machine but not on a Win 7 machine (message is - Service error cannot open <service name> service on computer '.') ( if I stop the UAC then it runs ok ). It seems to be a rights issue,

I created this simple textpad program in WPF/VB.NET 200 that automatically saves the content of the forms to an XML file on every keystroke.Now, I'm trying to make the program see the changes on the XML file in realtime.. example, If I open two of my textpads, when I write on the first one, it will automatically reflect on the other textpad.
