Obtain Event Arguments From Another Procedure In Program?
Oct 27, 2009
This is a concept question about vidual basic asp coding -- I'm using certain examples, but the question is not about those examples specifically.
Let's say I have some code in button1_click vb code-behind.
In order to perform my desired function, I need access to StatusEventArguments in an event, for example, SqlDatasource_selected.
Is there a way to access that data from my procedure, or do I have to access it only in the event codebehind and store it in a global or session variable so I can access it in my button1_click procedure?
i able to get data then i click second time i got error Procedure or function "procedure name" display has too many arguments specified" why this error. [code]
I am trying to obtain a value by calling a stored procedure I am trying to use the n tier design as opposed to the wizards. I am not sure how my function should look when it is called from the persistance class. I am using MYSQL for the database.
The persistance class works and the stored procedure works in the database.
I am trying to get the value of the CategoryID so that I can insert that value into the database when an admin wants to update product features. The stored procedure that was written is for a ListView, so I was hoping I could put something hidden in there to get the ID. When I put the Hidden Field on the page and tried to get the ID, I got the error I mentioned in the title.
I am recieving this error and i cant think why. I have checked the number of parameters being passed as well as the number of required paramaters from the sp ,regenerating the data set has given me no look.
Public Sub GetRows(ByVal [Option] As String, ByVal searchString As String) Me.DataSet11.Clear() SqlSelectCommand1.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
I am trying to call a stored procedure and get the idn_num as output on entering an input of a name. I get a "Procedure or function 'aaa' has to many arguements specified" error when I try to run my VB.net code
Code: Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click 'conn.ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=C:ParameterProject esttable.mdb;Persist Security Info=False" & ";Jet OLEDB:Database Password = " conn.ConnectionString = "Data Source=localhostsqlexpress;Initial Catalog=PPRT;Integrated Security=True;Pooling=False" [Code] .....
im getting this error when i run my app, i have looked at my stored procedure and VB code and cannot see anything wrong with been stuck on this for the last couple of days
This is going to be a lot to ask, but I'd like to convert my old GW-BASIC program to a command line program with arguments. I'd like it to operate as follows:
elapse [drive:][path]filename This is my old code.
5 CLS 10 OPEN "G:Calc.txt" FOR INPUT AS #1 20 WHILE NOT EOF(1): INPUT #1, A$, B$ 30 IF MID$(A$,3,1)=":" THEN C$="DOUBLE DIGIT":GOTO 50 40 IF MID$(A$,2,1)=":" THEN C$="SINGLE DIGIT":GOTO 120
I want to have a link in an email with an ID number. Then, when the user clicks on the link in the email, it either launches my program, or brings the program to top, depending on whether it is opened or not, and then loads the record for that ID number from the link (the software is a record lookup tool). If I can figure out how to "send" the program the ID, I can figure the rest out.
I build two programs, 1 - bootstrap and 1 - mainprogram
now, mainprogram has 2 constructors, the default and the one which i defined and it accepts an integer the default constructor checks the variable named iscalled a type of integer to have a value of 1 or zero, if its zero then it should shows a message saying "Improper initialization" then exits..
What I mean here is, mainprogram should only run if its called by the bootstrap program.
I decided to make a small app that runs another app with arguments. I think the best way to do it was selecting one option from a dropdown menu and using this option as an argument to run the app.
The clean part I did: Public Class LanguageSelectDialog Private Sub LanguageSelectDialog_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load End Sub
[Code]....
Since I'm just trying out, I've made an blank app just for testing purposes. What I need to do in order to pass the selected option as argument? I'm using VisualStudio 2010.
I want to call the "CheckedChanged" event for a Radio Button from within another sub procedure elsewhere in the program. The posts that seem to relate have me confused.
Using the visual part of VB I can create 'event' procedures. eg. if I double click on a button on the form it will take me to the code window and insert a procedure as follows:
Gentlemen, I have an application made by a Vendor that sends a set of arguments to an application I am working on. I am unsure how to "launch" my application with these arguments. The vendor's app is a service that runs and launches my application when necessary. I'm assuming i need to modify the main form's constructor, but not sure.
I am trying to reference the KeyDown event from a independent sub procedure and have it loop back into original independent sub procedure. Starts off in Independent sub procedure (DisplayAction - which then calls KeyDown Event) Goes into KeyDown event (KeyDown then calls DisplayAction) Goes back into original sub procedure (DisplayAction) and the loop continues. * Steps 1 and 2 work just fine in my code. Step 3 is the problem. My program does not loop back into the independent sub procedure.
I read some articles about using events and/or class events, but not a single article realy explainend the true use and benefit of using events in classes, but only how to use them.
As far as I understand, you can use an event to trigger a certain procedure of a class within another class or aspx page, but you can do the same by declaring an object of that class and call de procedure or methods directly. why and when or where we would use an event with addhandler to call a routine from a class and not declare an object of the class and call the desired routine directly.
I have a program that works when, a file is opened with it using the right click menu in explorer. But if I select multiple files and then right click and open with my program then it opens multiple instances of my program, instead of just passing the multiple files as arguments to a single instance. The program is written in vb.net but is not a windows form, it is just a module, so I can to tick the Single instance option in the properties in Visual Studio. So how do I open multiple files from explorer context menu in a single instance.
I'm developing this procedure using a timer object. The thing is the procedure is not in the timer's event procedure but I want it to depend on the timer's interval when executing, it's just not calling the timer procedure. How can u declare objects and use their event procedures in code.
I've created a form to handle "frequently asked questions". In the form I have five Drop-Down Combo Boxes and I want the user to be able to select one of the questions listed in the drop down boxes and have it return a "message box" with the answer to the question. Naturally I'll have different "answers" for each question, but my initial efforts have me getting my message box as soon as I click on the drop-down arrow itself, and I don't want that triggered until I click on the specific question.
I try to run a custom sub procedure from the form load event. It keeps crashing. I believe it is because all of the controls are not loaded and the sub procedure makes use of some controls. How can I make sure everything is loaded before the sub procedure is run?
i created a function procedure and i need to the action to be carried out when i click a button, but a don't know how to call the function procedure under the click event of the button control.
i need to pass on some variables from FORM1 in to a procedure in form load event of FORM2 to say in another way i need to run a procedure (which uses variables of FORM1) which is derived in FORM1 class and in FORM2 load event
I am trying to code for is as follows: Construct a two dimensional array and enter into it a sales id number followed by twelve variables which represent sales totals made by the sales agent. this must provide space for five agents. I can declare the proper array and have done so as follows
Dim Sales (4,12) As Double. I also crafted a click event which will count from 1-12 (which excludes the sales id number) and disables the sales id number so it cannot get used. [Code]
What I am trying to do is setup a function within the same click event procedure which stores the current SalesAmount as a variable in the array and moves to the next slot to get ready to store the next SalesAmount. However I have no idea where to go from here. I have tried a ton of different pieces of code which are either all littered with errors or do not return a value when I call it. Calling the total of each row and the total for all rows is something I need to do for display and I am not one hundred percent sure I know how to do that either.
