Parse Strangely Formatted Files?

May 29, 2009

I need to parse a file but the data is in a strange format that I'm not familar parsing.

The data is always formatted like this. The field name is to the left and the data is right of the "=" and all fields are always in this order.[code]...

Is there a more elegant way to handle parsing files like this?

I am having the following problem, when the user wants to use the DateTimePicker (DTP), the date box shows in the middle of the screen. Then if the user wants to select a date he cant, instead the date box goes away and the DTP value remains unchanged. This is not always happening, sometimes it works fine and sometimes this happens. Please go to the link below for an image (you can see that the DTP control is on the left while the date box is to the right):[URL].. application is being run from a server to a local client on the user machine, I dont know if this has anything to do with it.

The extracted information is basically a SQL query.... VS 2010 Parse VB/C# Code Files?

Sep 5, 2010

I am creating a kind of 'lightweight' visual studio IDE, basically a text editor for VB or C# code files, or in other words: a visual studio IDE without all the fancy stuff like actually running projects, debugging, form designer, etc. The idea is that you can view and edit code source files quickly and easily without having to start visual studio itself. I often find myself opening source files in notepad when I just want to take a look at something quickly, or to type some code that is intended to be posted on this forum. I find it too much 'work' to fire up visual studio on those occasions, but it would be nice if I had some basic syntax highlighting (already have that), Intellisense and such.

What I'm trying to do now is parse a VB or C# source file to extract information such as the types/classes in a file, and the members (as well as their parameters and return type) in those classes.I was going to do this manually but I doubt I could pull it off efficiently (if at all), so I started thinking about it and thought maybe .NET has some built in functionality already. I don't know much about this stuff, but I do know that you can compile source code by feeding it a string that represents the code. So if it can 'compile a string', then surely it should be able to parse it as well? With the difference between compiling and parsing (I'm not sure if I have this terminology correct) I mean:

- compiling: reading the source and converting it to the CIL so it can be run

- parsing: reading the source and extracting classes/members info, so that the IDE can do some basic error checking (undeclared variable warnings etc) and display the members in a class (in those comboboxes at the top of the code editor for example).

I don't need to compile the source (I'm not going to run the application), I only need to parse it.I would assume that I could call some function that would return a collection of types (Type), and from that I could figure out the members (MethodInfo, PropertyInfo, etc) and their parameters, return types, etc. And all I should give it is the source code as a string.

C# - Parse Files In Directory/insert In Database?

May 22, 2010

I have a directory full of .txt comma delimited files arranged as shown below. What I want to do is to import each of these into a SQL or SQLite database, appending each one below the last. (1 table)... I am open to C# or VB scripting and just not sure how to accomplish this. I want to only extract and import the data starting BELOW the 'Feat. Type,Feat. Name, etc' line.

These are stored in a mynetworkdirectorystats folder on my network drive. Ideally I will be able to add functionality that will make the software/script know not to re-add the file to the database once it has already done so as well.

C# - Parse An Expression And Retrieve A Parse Tree?

Jun 8, 2012

I just want to parse simple expressions like IIF(FVAL(PFC) = TRUE, (IIF((ORGVAL(BAS, "2012/12/31") + ORGVAL(DA)) < 6500, (FVAL(BAS) + FVAL(DA)) * 12%, 780)), 0)`After parsing this I should be able to know what functions contains what parameters.

[Code]...

I'm stuck with .Net Framework 2.0, so no Linq or lambda expression goodies for me. Also I want to include the code in my custom library and not just reference it. Can anyone point me to some good library or code.

I just need to parse and not evaluate the expression and find what tokens are in use. After finding the tokens I need to change the expression string before parsing, like if the function ORGVAL is used then the parameter passed has has to be prefixed by an underscore. Like ORGVAL(BAS) will transform to ORGVAL(_BAS). Some functions can have tow parameters like ORGVAL(BAS, "2012/12/31") and this will transform to ORGVAL(_BAS, "2012/12/31")

NOTE: IF THERE ARE OTHER WAYS OF DOING IT PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I WOULD LOVE TO AVOID A PARSER AND LEXER.

Use MYSQL On Dates Formatted As MM/dd/yy?

Nov 4, 2011

I have a database full of dates that are in the format: MM/dd/yy. For example, today's date (November 4, 2011) is saved in the database as: 11/04/11. I'm having trouble with date ranges since my dates aren't formatted as yyyy/MM/dd (example: 2011/11/04). I don't have a way to change the way the database is populated, so I need to account for the date formatting differences within my MYSQL queries (via VB.NET). Here is my query (it doesn't work well because the dates are in the incorrect format):

SELECT CMP_DATE FROM my_data WHERE OBJ_DATE >= '1994/01/01' AND CMP_DATE <= '2011/11/04'

Is there anyway to reformat the dates within the query?

Use Webpage For Formatted Text?

My thoughts turned to making an html page, adding it to the project, and then in place of the text box of instructions have a web browser control to load that specific html doc in the project.

The html doc would have all sorts of pretty formatting and what not (bold, bullet points, colors, etc).

Is there a way that I can grab the value in the format "YY/MM/DD" e.g the value would return "10/04/24"?

Also whats the easiest way to calculate the number of days between two datetime pickers on the same form? I've tried to do it and it's just a mess.

Single is multiplied by 1 for a number-inputted text box; Double is multiplied by two and Triple is multiplied by 3. Take a look at the form below and you'll see what I'm talking about.

VS 2010 Getting Formatted Text From A RichTextBox?

Jan 7, 2011

I've decided to come back to working on an old program of mine, and it's been coming along nicely, but there's this one thing that I can't get working.I have formatting options (Bold, Underline, Italics, Strikethrough) available on my program, and they all work properly. I'm giving users the ability to export all of their text from a single page on the program to a .rtf file. However, the problem I'm experiencing is that each page has numerous RichTextBoxes on it, so I cannot simply use a RichTextBox1.SaveFile() command or something similar. I want to compile all of the text (including formatting) from all of the RichTextBoxes and put it on a single .rtf file. Currently, I'm getting the text from the RichTextBoxes using the RichTextBox1.Text command; unfortunately, that only gives me plain text without formatting. So, what I'm wondering is: how can I get the formatted text from a RichTextBox? Is there any command?

Application That Prints Formatted Text To A Printer?

May 11, 2011

Visual Studio 2005 I have an application that prints formatted text to a printer. I'm using the sample code from MSDN to impliment PrintDocument.PrintPage. My function for formatting the pages uses exactly the same code.

The problem is that the actual printout is off by one line. The footer from the first page prints at the top of the next page. Subsequent pages scroll down by one line for each page printed. If I reduce my formatted text lines by one, the opposite happens... the header from the second page prints at the bottom of the first page.

I've fussed with margin settings and fonts and I just can't seem to make it print pages correctly. I'm hoping that someone out there has seen this and can offer advice.
