I having problem when I try to pass value from ImageButton to a controlparameter, then the update command can retrieve the value from control parameter to execute update statement.
I want to pass value Status=1 when ImageButton APPROVE is clicked, else pass value Status=2 when ImageButton REJECT is clicked.
Where and how should I assign value Status? When I run my code, I receive this error : Must declare the scalar variable "@Status".
Or any recommendation to pass the value Status?
My ImageButton:
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:ImageButton runat="server" ID="APPROVE" CommandName="update"
ImageUrl="~/images/accept.png"

I am working on a very simple program for someone and because it's been so long since i've programmed, I'm looking for an answer as to the best way to do the following.
My program consists of tracking incident reports and each report needs to have the data entered as well as the "paper form" linked to it that shows the members signature. I have everything completed on the program but how to get my file to link with the incident. I am using Access for my database and have been looking everywhere online on how to attachment documents within Access using the Attachment Datatype. So my question is.....
Should i find a way to import the file to Access, and if so, how do i do this, or should i just send the file path to Access as a text field, and then hyperlink the file when it is displayed on the report? I've never done anything like this and was just looking for some pointers.
Can anyone suggest me how to pass datagridview data to database.
Process must be like this, if the user enter multiple data into the datagridview after user press "save" button, datagridview data must be passed to database. Need C# code in windows application. It should have some comboxbox control in datagridview.
As we pass data to a database in a clear cut way, there may be situations, when we might fear data stealing. So can we simply encrypt data at the time of insertion, so that the data privacy will be maintained and the front end can only see the data.

I am new using Vb. I did create an app that accept general customers info, and save it into a database using the bindingsource component(I don't know how to do it with SQL from VB). Everything was fine, but adding a couple of maskedtextbox has become difficult. I don't know how to pass the value of this fields to the database. I used the following code:
phonetextbox.text = maskedtextbox.text
Leaving the original fields in the form, I see the values on them, but they never goes to the database. Is this just possible using sql command from VB?
I am new to VB.net and attempting to write a small program as a learning exercise. I am writing a simple clock in/clock out time type of program where on Form 1 a button is clicked to clock in, then a button is pressed to clock out. When the clock in button is pressed the date and time captured and shown in a label 1. The clock out button places the date and time in a label 2. Label 3 shows the elapsed time between clocking in and out. I also have a label 4 which keeps on adding elapsed times (user may clock in and out several times) to show total time worked. All of this works fine.
I have made a dataset and datagrid on Form 2 to store all of the clock ins and clock outs. I have a history button on form 1 which takes the user to form 2 where the history can be viewed in the datagrid. I cannot figure out how to send data to the data grid from form 1. I thought the simplest way would be to place the value of label 1 in the first column of the datagrid, the value of label 2 in the 2nd column and the value of label 3 in the third column. Then when the process is repeated the values will be entered into row 2 of the datagrid and so on.

View 17 RepliesI have created an application in which I have to make a report with ReportViewver from Microsoft.Everything ok until now. I have created the report and for this report I have created a dataset. This dataset contains data for every month in every year from 2010 to 2015. With this dataset I am populating a graphic but my problem is that I want to select the year and create graphic for one year.I do not know how to insert a parameter in the dataset. In sql is very easy by in Access is different and if I try to put something like ...' where year_column=@year_parameter' I receive an error.
View 3 RepliesI am hardcoding an insert statement to a database, based on certain details a user enters into a windows form. The form has a few textbox and datetimepicker controls for the purpose. This form enters a single row in a single table in the database.The table has a few possible null columns defined, in those cases where the user does not have any data for those columns at that particular time.
I have to provide controls for passing data to those null columns nevertheless. In my case, I have two such columns that accept null values, and two corresponding controls - a textbox and a datetimepicker. The datetimepicker has a checkbox added to it so that if it is supposed to be null it doesn't pass the default current date value, and remains unchecked to explicitly specify that it is supposed to be null. By default it is unchecked.
My code is structured as follows:
Form1:
'the sub referenced here resides in a dll file in my dataaccesslayer code, and in my actual example is referenced properly.
'I have shortened the code here for simplicity
[code]....
Now it gives me an error whenever the code comes to the executenonquery(), and says something to the tune of "SqlDateTimeOverflow. Must be between 1/1/1753 12:00:00 AM and 12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM."
I think the value of 'Nothing' from the subprocedure's paramter is not being assigned to the sqlcommand's parameter as a database NULL, which is what I need to pass to the database.I know instead of using optional parameters I can easily create overloaded subprocedures where one sub allows not passing values where the column(s) is supposed to null and other overloaded subs permit combinations of which column(s) are null or not. But it is simple as long as there is just one, or at the most two null columns in a table. If I have dozens of null values in a table that the user can choose to enter or not in a data entry form?

View 1 RepliesI am trying to pass some information from a VB form to my MySQL database. i have named all the textbox's the same as the field in the database and checked all my database fields and textbox names which are all correct. When i try to enter information into a form I sometimes get an error at the .executeNonQuery section of the code.
To test, I outputted the SQLStatement string to a textbox ( which pulled through all the fields from the textboxes correctly) then manually inputted the completed SQL query into the database and it worked. But when I try to do this in one go it seems to fail if there is too much text ( if i enter 'a' into each field it works). Are they limits to the size of the SQL query that can be passed from VB?? all the MySql database fields are set to text with no size limits.

I have two tables:
table1
case_no flow result
tc_1 001 pass
tc_1 002 pass
tc_1 003 pass
tc_2 001 pass
tc_2 002 fail
tc_2 003 pass
table2"
case_no result
tc_1 pass
tc_2 fail
Table2 should be updates from table based on the results... If all results is PASS then the table2 should be updated as pass... if any result is FAIL then the entire case_no should be updates a s fail..
This code was working consistently, but now...This code works on the first pass.Then second pass it just hangs on Code:Dim tcpClient As TcpClient = tcpListener.AcceptTcpClient() for about 2 minutesThen the code will fork for another pass, then fail.....

Just started VB programming this week and have found a wealth of information about what I'm trying to do. Problem is, some of it is more complete than others.Here's what I'm trying to do:In Form1 (my main form), I want to instantiate a class that contains a couple of properties (speed setpoint and position setpoint). When I click a button, I want to pass this data to Form2 and populate two textboxes on Form2 with the properties of this object. I want to manipulate the property values on Form2 and click an OK button which closes the dialog and returns the manipulated data, updating the property values of the object. Here's the algorithm I'm following:1) On Form1, instantiate the class2) On Form1's "Pass Data" button click event handler, instantiate a Form2 object and invoke the ShowDialog method, passing the object as a parameter.
3) On Form2, overload the ShowDialog method to accept the object as a parameter and modify the method so that it returns the manipulated class data.4) On Form2, in the ShowDialog method, populate the textboxes with the class data that was passed in.Here's where I get stuck. If I press the OK button on Form2 (DialogResult.OK), it returns me to Form1, but what hook do I have in Form1 to receive the manipulated class data that the ShowDialog method is returning?Here's an example of what I'm thinking about:
Code:
Public Class Form1
Dim clsController1 As New MotionController

View 2 RepliesI am looking for some input. I am helping with a web application that is fairly large. We have some logic factored out into classes, not a true business logic layer (yet ). The classes are setup to pull values directly from the QueryString or Session variables and I'm not sure that that mehtod is proper or even a
The reason I would like some input is, there may be a chance to rewrite or at least refactor the code.
