Javascript - Pass JSON File From ASP.NET To JQuery?

Feb 27, 2012

my problem is that my company does not want to serve up the .json MIME type, so I have to use ASP.NET to fetch the JSON file from the file server. Currently I have jQuery that does a getJSON and traverses the JSON object to build certain elements of the page. Is there a way I can use ASP.NET (VB) to give the object to my jQuery script after I fetch it?

Optimize LINQ Query For Use With JQuery Auto-complete?

I'm working on building an HTTPHandler that will serve up plain text for use with jQuery Autocomplete. I have it working now except for when I insert the first bit of text it does not take me to the right portion of the alphabet.[code]...

My question is, how would I implement this concept into my HTTPHandler without doing a fresh SQLQuery on every character change? IE: I do the SQL Query on the QueryString("ID"), and then on every subsequent load of the same ID, we just filter down the "Part".[url]...

LINQ - Index Was Outside Bounds Of Array

Feb 6, 2012

I currently have a program that uses Linq to read a CSV file. Everything was working great until a recent change was done where the CSV file had records being added to it where the last 2 columns where empty. So, the error I am getting now is Index was outside the bounds of the array. The question I have is how do I handle a column where an empty or null value is set in the CSV file?

Here's my abbreviated code below.
Function readLINQ(ByVal strCustomerFile As String) As DataTable
Dim readlines = File.ReadAllLines(strCustomerFile)
File.WriteAllLines(strCustomerFile, readlines.Skip(4).ToArray())
Dim gTable As New DataTable("CashFile")

I am trying to get an index of a List(Of Details) Details being a class i use instead of an annon method. Is it because i am using array.findindex when it's not an array but a list(Of???

.net - Reset Index In LINQ Select Clause?

Mar 13, 2012

My LINQ query:

Dim groupedData = (From p In pData _
Group By p.TruncParam Into Group) _
.SelectMany(Function(g) g.Group) _
.Select(Function(d, idx) New With { _

[Code]...

When the TruncParam changes, I would like the index (idx) in the Select clause to reset to 1. So, in the list above, the Index should be SOLUB0001, SOLUB0002, INSOL0001, INSOL0002...CLRES0001, SUMCA0001, SUME0001.

How should I alter the LINQ query?

.net - How To Pass Linq To SQL Types To A Function

Aug 27, 2011

The code below is used in a Linq to SQL solution, and is in the Load event of a form. It works fine to display an ordered list of people's names, and set the value member to that person's ID. However, I'm going to be using these 'people' comboboxes a lot, so I'd like to put a sub into my Utility code there is only one line in the form's Load event.

I want to call something like: Call ComboboBoxPeople(cbo, tblTurnbackMain, ReportedByID)

The sub would begin like: Public Sub ComboboxPeople(cbo as Combobox, tbl as 'sometype', fld as 'someothertype')

What can I use as the parameter types for tbl and fld?

How To Use The Vb Equivalent Of ++ For An Index Property In A Linq Query Projecting A New Type

May 3, 2011

I'd normally do this in C# but since I've got to get this code in this particular assembly which is a vb.net one, I'm stuck.

Here's my linq query:

Dim i As Integer = 0

Dim oldAndCurrentIntersectionOnNames = From currentApplicant In currentApplicants _
Group Join oldApplicant In oldApplicants _

[CODE]...

You'll see the .Index = i+=1

This was my attempt to do what I'd quite happily do in C# (i.e. Index = i++) in VB. Unfortunately the VB compiler doesn't like that. how I'd do this in VB.
