How do I set up a VB.NET program so it will run on W2K ? I understand I can only use .Net 2.0 or older. Is there an easy way to limit which .net version is used/referenced ? (I have .Net 3.5 on my XP development computer) Updating target computers to XP, Vista, Windows 7 is NOT an option.

If my understanding is correct, Win 2000 only supports .NET 2.0 Framework. I am using VB2008 Express to write an app that I would like to install but I believe VB2008 Express utilizes the .NET 3.5 Framework.
Is there a way to compile my app so that it only requires the .NET 2.0 Framework? Or, more directly, is there a way to install apps written with VB2008 Express onto PC's running Windows 2000?
I am writing a program on my Windows XP computer at home and installed Power Packs 3 so I could take advantage of Printforms I copied the project to my flash drive and brought program to my office that has windows 2000, the program wouldnt load because Power Packs wasnt intalled. Doing some research, I have found out that you can manually change the GAC or have Windows Installer fix it for you. To be honest, I don't know where the GAC is or how to modify it. My ideal solution would be to figure out how to setup Windows Installer to fix the GAC and configure Crystal reports however to get my project to run on a basic machine. setup Windows Installer to install the appropriate Crystal Reports Engine so my project will work??
I have a simple Windows Service that reads from an Excel spreadsheet and imports the records into a SQL Server 2000 database table. Before it loads it checks if the file has been successfully imported before (using filename) and whether any of the records in the file have been imported before (using primary key). If these checks are ok I load the records into a datatable and then update the datatable to the database.
However, I need to do this in a transaction as I want to ignore the whole file if there is an error. The file goes to a discarded folder and the user gets an email with why the import failed. (This is likely to be because the store the record is for is not yet added to the database and the referential intergrity of the db fails). If there is no transaction the records before the failure record are imported. When the file is imported again (the store has been added to store table) the file is then rejected because duplicate records are already in the db.

When I schedule the service this is working absolutely fine in my Windows XP machine. But when I installed the same service in our development server (Windows 2003 64 bit Server) for some reason it is not able to locate this file.

What i mean by this is once the windows is up, my program will run and blocks users from accessing any other program installed or comes with Windows such as internet explorer, email client, games, etc.. unless user puts password for getting out of my program.
BTW, the OS will be Windows XP.What i want to accomplish by having this is like below:
1. No one would be able to use internet (= no virus)
2. No one would be able to change system time (= no record corruption)
3. No one would be able to install any program (= less system maintenance)

There is reasoning behind the 4 songs but thats not too important. So the issue is that I had made this program for my work but when i put it on my work computer, it wouldnt even open, i double click it, it sits for a bit, then MP3Randomizer.exe has encountered a problem. Any idea why it works on my 64 bit windows 7 personal laptop but not my 32 bit windows xp work comp. I have created programs on my laptop and then dragged them to my work computer and they worked just fine. Is it the windows media player component?
