I explain: When starting the program from the application directory, it works fine, because the "Application Path" property gives the right path to find the access database located in the same directory, BUT, the problems comes when I start the program from the Windows Start Menu. All these years in all versions when user taps at the top or bottom of the screen (depending on where the task bar is located) it brings up the task bar and start menu fine. But now the latest OS build doesn't do it anymore. I'm thinking of having a button in my app to bring up the task bar but not sure how to do it.However, in IE full screen there is a circular button that brings up the task bar. If I can accomplish it in my app that would be good.

In this mode the application start minimized and an little icon appear in the notification icon area. With this icon you can maximize the app or exit it.If you exit the app and start it again using the Menu (Start/programs etc) than the application start in minimized mode (and in this case I would like to have it in normal mode) because the setting autostart is still true.Is there a way you can detect when the application start when windows startup using the above registry or when people click on an icon in the programs menu (or desktop)?

Enable And Start Windows Form Timer?
Jun 16, 2011In my Windows Form's application, I enable and start a Windows Form's Timer for a state machine which interacts with various User Controls. In one part of the state machine where an external device is being rebooted, I need to disable the User Interface (a User Control's UI) for the time it takes the device to reboot. The problem exists in that once I use System.Threading.Sleep, the timer that fires the State Machine stops and never restarts. I even re-enabled the Timer and re-started it after the Sleep command but to no avail. Is this expected operation or should a Windows Form's Timer be able to restart after a Sleep?

Dec 21, 2011I am working on upgrading an old Access 2000 database to VB .NET (2010). There is one form that I am having trouble figuring out how to build so that it works similarly to the Access form. In Access, there is a header, detail and footer for this form. The objects in the detail section only need to be created once and Access will "copy" them for each record in the database and fill in the appropriate information (the form objects include buttons, textboxes, comboboxes, etc.).
How can I do this in VB .NET? Each different area that is chosen will have a different number of sections. I've thought about using a GroupBox, but I'm not sure how to make that work.
Installing VB2008 Express Apps On Windows 2000?
Apr 27, 2010If my understanding is correct, Win 2000 only supports .NET 2.0 Framework. I am using VB2008 Express to write an app that I would like to install but I believe VB2008 Express utilizes the .NET 3.5 Framework.
Is there a way to compile my app so that it only requires the .NET 2.0 Framework? Or, more directly, is there a way to install apps written with VB2008 Express onto PC's running Windows 2000?

I keep trying to add a new data source so that I can drag and drop things to my form, but I am unable to. I follow the steps, choosing an OLE DB, the file's location (D:Data Connected Applicationsfile name) The conecting string looks like: Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source="D:Data Connected ApplicationsItem_Database_A.accdb".
