Bring Up Start Menu In Windows Mobile 6.5 App (full Screen) In Compact
Jun 20, 2011
My app is built in vb.net compact. All these years in all versions when user taps at the top or bottom of the screen (depending on where the task bar is located) it brings up the task bar and start menu fine. But now the latest OS build doesn't do it anymore. I'm thinking of having a button in my app to bring up the task bar but not sure how to do it.However, in IE full screen there is a circular button that brings up the task bar. If I can accomplish it in my app that would be good.
Just finishing off an update to an application written in VB.NET that used to run fine under CE.NET 4.2. Deployment platform is now Windows Mobile 6.1. The application runs in full screen, however whenever a new form is opened, the task bar, i.e. the bar with the start button comes to the fore and then the new form takes over. This is particularly annoying as I have a form that has many sub forms which are 128,128 and still the task bar flashes and obscures part of the user input screen
how can I disable the start menu! Or completely shut down the entire "explorer" in Windows Windows Mobile 6.1, so that users can not go out of my program.I have try [URL], but then Windows Mobile 6.1 hang.
I can use appactivate to bring forward a screen on another program if I know it's title (or at least part of it's title). Is there a way I can read the full title of such a screen if I bring it into focus? e.g I have a screen from another program which says "Patient Mrs Smith". I can bring it to the front by doing an appactivate from my VB prog and calling appactivate("Patient"). Is there a way that I can find out the full title from my VB program?
I have made quite a nice and tidy little game. Its based around space invaders and works quite well. however because i have finished my college project almost 2 weeks ahead of the assignments release date, my tutor has asked me to tweak my project and make it better. So far i have added a full main menu to the game and a full splash screen. I would like to add in a section for recorded high scores but have no idea how to attempt this at all.
I am writing my first windows ce app. I am using an xml file (app.Config) to store state data... basically user preferences on the last location (connection string) that the person was using before closing the app. I am having trouble understanding what is happening on deploy. It looks like it is copying my xml file to the debug folder on deploy. My problem is, when I save the xml file it is not saving in my project. Is there another folder in which the emulator resides that contains all of the state data and possibly the file that I am writing out? I am saving the doc to the same filepath as I am reading in but it does not actually save or throw error or anything.
I'm doing a project with vb.net (smart device) on visual studio 2008 and I need to connect to a database on the device itself (I do not have a physical device to test, only emulation). How should I go about doing it? I would like the database to be in the device on start up.
I have the requirement to create an application that has multiple front ends developed using Windows Forms, WPF, ASP and Compact Framework Mobile Forms.I would like to be able to create a series of obejct representing the business logic and have this logic accessible from the various front ends available. My first thought was to use remoting as I'd like to be able to pass the business objects back and forth between client and server but the compact framework doesn't support remoting and also transferring a full framework business object to a compact framework business object doesn't seem possible. My next thought was to use web services but again the passing of business objects seems to be very hard to accomplish. Without doing this I would have to create individual web methods for each business operation.
Finally my next option is to use sockets and write the whole client/server logic within some classes and expose them to the UI/Business layer. My only problem with this is it is not scaleable should the number of clients increase dramatically whereas using remoting or web services I can host the solution via ASP.Net.Does anybody have an ideas on the best way forward for this or even have any input on how they would write an application that required a windows form, wpf, asp website and mobile device GUI all of which want to use the same business logic?
Where do I put the shortcut icon for my mobile application in the Installer project for a Windows Mobile project so that when the cab is installed the icon will show on the Programs Menu?
I have a windows form with nothing more than 4 picture boxes on there and a button. How (if even possible) can I show this page in full screen mode but at the same time allow each control on the form to format and resize in proportion. The best analogy I can give to describe what I want is when thinking about PowerPoint. When you create a slide and then press the F5 button to go into slideshow mode, no matter what size monitor or resolution you use, it always fills up the screen appropriately.
One of the things my VB.NET program does is play video files using the Windows Media Player component that comes with VB. My program also switches the WMP component to full screen but once in a while the form will be on top of the full screen video. I am hoping that you fine and knowledgeable folks cat this from happening. The problem occurs when the next video file is played automatically. I'll do my best to post a bit of code but since I don't have much of an idea what might be causing this I'll just have to guess. The project has gotten quite large over the years I've been writing it and if any more code ito post any or all of it, though I'm sure no one would like to go through all 1771 lines of it.
Private Sub WMP_PlayStateChange(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As AxWMPLib._WMPOCXEvents_PlayStateChangeEvent) Handles WMP.PlayStateChange If Stopping = True Then
I have an application that is currently playing videos through the windows media player control from a website. I want it so that a button I have created, when clicked will make the wmp control full screen.
I have got a surprise when my app did not work as I expected when I started it from the Windows Start Menu. I explain: When starting the program from the application directory, it works fine, because the "Application Path" property gives the right path to find the access database located in the same directory, BUT, the problems comes when I start the program from the Windows Start Menu. What can I do to solve this?
Now I'm creating at app in VB (Microsoft's, Visual Basic 2010) which will be in full screen but I want to know if I can put all my content in the centre of the screen. At the moment it's at the far top, left of the screen. When the screen size varies I want it will stay in the middle for all shapes and sizes. Like :
oke On-Screen keyboard through my VB code. I am using windows 7 and below code to open the keyboard. Everytime when i run this code i am getting error "Could not start On-Screen keyboard".e to fix this error?
Dim proces As New Process proces.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = False proces.StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = True
I am making a program that will put a black mask over an application (like a full screened game). This black mask will fade in and out, depending on certain criteria. Is there a way I can do that with VB? It's to help me dim my monitor without having to push anything.
I have an Unmanaged Lib compiled for Windows Ce. I am trying to call this dll from VB.net Full Framework .Net 4 Client Profile Windows application. I am trying to use the same code that I use in the Compact Framework application. It compiles without errors and runs but when Invoking a function I get error ex = {"An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007000B)"} Is it possible to use the Mobile Unmanaged Dll on the Desktop ? Here is the Wrapper code I use to call the Dll:
Imports System Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices Module modM300CF
What code in VB.net 2010 do I need to set a window to come to the front of the screen. What I am trying to achieve is to display an urgent alert type, its a form, for certain reasons I am not using message box.
Following code does not work: Private Sub frmMessage_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Me.BringToFront() End Sub
I have made my application to start automaticly when windows start (registry ../currentversion/run/appname + path). In this mode the application start minimized and an little icon appear in the notification icon area. With this icon you can maximize the app or exit it.If you exit the app and start it again using the Menu (Start/programs etc) than the application start in minimized mode (and in this case I would like to have it in normal mode) because the setting autostart is still true.Is there a way you can detect when the application start when windows startup using the above registry or when people click on an icon in the programs menu (or desktop)?
how to bring the search window back to its original form when it has filled the whole screen? Usually there are at the right upper corner small buttons to resize or to close, but I don't see them (visual basic 10 express edition)
I am developing a game in compact framework. In Mobile Devices there is a button that Rotates the screen by 90 degrees so you can hold the mobile device the way that suits you. The problem is that i want to handle that in my game, so if i see that the screen has rotated the game will pause.
How do you get an application, using Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 express, to run in full screen mode. You know what I mean, like a game would but an application.

I'm attempting to use waveOutSetVolume from coredll.dll to gradually increase the audio volume from silent (or near silent) to maximum.
Most of the code examples I'm finding show some predefined set points for Off, Low, Normal, Medium, High, and Very High like this:
Public Enum Volumes As Integer OFF = 0 LOW = 858993459
[Code]....
OK, and here's some API documentation which doesn't make a lot of sense to me in this particular context. What is low-order word and high-order word and how can they both exist in a single value?
· dwVolume New volume setting. The low-order word contains the left-channel volume setting, and the high-order word contains the right-channel setting. A value of 0xFFFF represents full volume, and a value of 0x0000 is silence. If a device does not support both left and right volume control, the low-order word of dwVolume specifies the volume level, and the high-order word is ignored.
