Pulling Database Information From Gridviews That Is Not Displayed On The Gridview?

I've created a Gridview control that pulls some data from my database, but doesn't display all of the information I'm hoping it gathers. I choose not to display the primary key for user interface purposes, but require that key for basic operations on the grid.I'm currently attempting to add a "Delete" option to the table, but unfortunately I'm having very little luck. Here's my .aspx file.

We are writing a program that pulls a Teacher from a database, then you select the "period" 1 - 7. What is happening is if we pick period 1 on teacher john doe. Then when you pick another teacher it doesn't clear the period that we selected before. How do we clear this information every time we select a different teacher?

I have an app that has been localized in the usual fashion (i.e., .resx files), which handles about 95% of the strings. However, I still need to localize some strings for category names that are stored in the database. I'd like to avoid adding 15 new columns named categoryname_ES, categoryname_FR, etc, and then pulling the right column dynamically. If there would be some way to pull the data, and then do a substitution in the code, I think that would be a little less messy. Maybe along the lines of:
go through gridview row by row if the language selected isn't English, look for this text value in a global resources file and replace it. Or is adding a lot of categoryname columns for each language just the way to go (ewww).

Using a Windows Form with a Menu bar and a Gridview control, I have bound data to the GridView from an MS Access 2000 database query using Dataset. The contents of this table displays just fine. But I want to be able for the user to select a different query from the menu bar and display it in the same GridView control. How can I change the query bound to the control (in VB)?

The error message that it is giving me is:
"Value of type 'Mineralogy.Minerals2000DataSet.Yttrium_MineralsDa ta Table cannot be converted to
'Mineralogy.Minerals2000DataSet._Actinide_Series__ Radioactive_Data Table'.
The query is getting information from two seperate tables,so I can't just bind a table to the control and then filter what is displayed using SQL.

I currently have an unlimited amount of columns and rows in a DataGrid. Pendinginformation from a user I would like to display every row from the datagrid into a checkedListBox but I only want to show specific columns depending on their column Names. Currently my code will display every row. My problem is getting only the selected columns depending on the name of their header.
The code that I have currently is:

I'm trying to learn a little about pulling information from other applications and finding it pretty difficult to find what it is I need to do. Let me give you an example of what I'm trying to do and perhaps someone can point me in the direction I need to work in.

Im just pulling information from SQL and populating textboxes etc.My question is firstly i have an issue because i can figure out how to do it, and secondly is there an easier way of writing this.So my Issue, i wrote a function to connect to SQL and pull information back which is fine it fills DS(Dataset) and then i want to be able to assign the relevant information within the DS to the desired textboxes,

I have added information from a file to be displayed in a list box. I was wondering which way would be the easiest in VS2005 to connect to and pull data from a MS SQL database. I have already setup the database connection by choosing the datasource for a DataGridView but I'm not able to retreive any information.
The steps I have taken so far:
1. Make new form
2. Drag and drop DataGridView onto the form
3. Setup the data source and respective username password
Not sure where to go from here....

I've been trying to display some information from an Oracle Database(10G) in a VB.NET program. Some of this information is in french and I need to display the french accents correctly. The e with an accent chr(233) is my test case, and it keeps coming back as either an inverted question mark (with Ole DB), a question mark (with the System.Data.OracleClient) or an 'i' (with ODBC and DSN)..

The program is currently trying to pull information from three different database tables and compiling the information onto one screen, to do this i am using three different connections and a function to handle the data at each stage. The issue is as my code hits PageLoadStage of "2" and runs the QueryDatabase() Function i am encountering an error of: "OleDB exception unhandled: No value given for one or more of the required parameters." This occurs on line 15 of the first code snippet. Can anyone explain this and/or identify any code issues if that is the cause.

i have recently installed Visual Studio 2010 Professional and I am currently coding in VB. I am trying to display a bar graph (pulling from MS SQL database) for certain criteria, but I do not have a "Chart" option in my Toolbox section. I have a licensed software and do not know why the "Chart" option is not present.

I generate a print preview, the only thing is, if there is enough data to fill like 2-3 pages I don't know how to generate a new page. It only fills the first page and that's it....

We have an application that has a main form with a map on it. Right now the paradigm is to have forms that are displayed using menu items to display information to the user. Most of these forms are modal forms, but a couple are non-modal forms that interact with the map. For some of the forms, it really would make for a better user experience if we could dock them in the main form of the app and allow the user to see both the form and the map. For instance. We could have a list of map features in a docked window, and select one of the items on the list and have the map zoom to that feature. Or do the reverse: let the users select a map item and have a docked window that shows details of the feature. Sounds great, but I wonder about what sort of gotchas we may encounter. In particular, what if we have two windows docked at the same time? Could we get tangled up in our event code?

wondering if someone can help me some small issues I am having with building my first project.
1.I have comboboxes that allow users to enter their own choices in and then their choices are displayed into the gridview.
the problem I am having is this is allowing me to duplicate choices. for example:when I run debug to try my boxes, I can type in Johnathan into the combobox as many times as I want to and it adds is to the combobox list..so now I got 10 johnathans in my combo box.and then to make things worse, when I hit the button I made to send choices to display..it causes duplicated choices to show up in the display.What I figure is that it is easier for me to just prevent duplicates in combobox.
2.Lets say on one of 10 comboboxes I got...lets say someone skips the box and doesnt make a choice...my grid will then display the last choice made.. (man o man)for example:John chose in his boxes and is displayed on gridview: Combobox1 (john) Combo2 (5:00 PM) combo3 (waiting)now lets say I come up to the computer and in Combobox1(Dcurvez) Combo2( i skipped and didnt enter a choice) and Combobox3(In Progess)
The display will put Dcurvez....5:00 PM.....In Progress because I didnt make a choice in the time combobox..it put in the last choice (Johns) as 5:00 PM Can someone in very simple terms tell me how to fix this problem?? I am using visual studio 2008 and vb/vb.net as language this is not a webpage, btw. it is for in shop computer just.

I am using a DateTimePicker to allow the user to select dates between which, info from a database is selected and displayed in a DataGridView.This works fine exept that the dates selected by the DateTimePicker seem to bring back results in US date format!
If I do a debug.print (DateTime1.text), the date is in UK format i.e 11/05/2009 but when these variables are used in a Select statement, the dates returned seem to be in US format e.g. selecting dates between 01/04/2009 and 7/05/2009 selects dates between 04/01/2009 and 05/07/2009 when the results are displayed in the DataGridView!

I'm in the process of making 2 database applications. Each are encountering their own set of errors. For this particular application, I have a "Main Menu" form that has a button which loads an "Add Record" form. The user is suppose to be able to insert new records here via text boxes, but the problem is that record with the first primary key is being displayed in the text boxes when the "Add Record" form loads. I have no idea and can't find anything anywhere about making these boxes blank. I'm connecting to the .accdb through a dataset.

I was having a heck of a time populating a gridview combo box.I learned a ton in the last 48 hours but would really like to know the answers to the bottom three questions.You guys are the experts, so I'm hoping you will enlighten meBut the summary of it is below:I was never able to get the ComboBox to bind to the data source. I tried everything until I turned blue. So I went to the basics and coded all the automatic stuff. I'm curious as to why the automatic binding didn't work. Perhaps its because my gridview datasource was LINQ.Here is how I pulled it off. I hope someone down the road benefits from the last 48 hours of my delima:First of all, know that I have two drop down lists on my form, one is the GPField and the other is the BankField. These are already populated DDLs that are static. So I used them to cheat on the values instead of using enums.

I'm having a problem with my software.
This is are the parts of my system where my problem occurs:
- Search Button
- List Box1
- TotalTextbox
- Button
- SQL Database with a Column named "Amount" and it only contains numbers Datatype is System.String
So, basically a user clicks the Search button and searches for a data in the SQL Database, and the result of the search displays in different Listboxes including the "Amount" Column from the database, which has it's own Listbox named "Listbox1". the Listbox is now filled with numbers.
Goal: The goal is to get the Sum of all the "Numbers" Displayed in the Listbox1, and the Total is then Displayed into a Textbox via using Click event or automatically.
The Code:

For x As Integer = 0 To ListBox1.Items.Count - 1
sum += CDbl(ListBox1.Items(x))
Next
TotalTextBox.Text = sum.ToString
And i got this Error: Conversion from type 'DataRowView' to type 'Double' is not valid.
I ended up with this..

For x As Integer = 0 To ListBox1.Items.Count - 1
sum += Val(ListBox1.Items.Item(x).ToString)
Next
TotalTextBox.Text = sum.ToString
But the values are not adding up, the total is always at 0. i've been searching for hours now from the net to a better way of doing this.
Here's a quick Flow on what im trying to accomplish here. Record from Database -----Displays on---> Listbox1 -----User Clicks--> Button1 ----Displays Total sum on----> Textbox1
