Reading In MS Access Column Information?

Jun 6, 2012

I want to be able to get the table structure / design / column information from an access database. I have created a post in the Database/Access section with no luck, here, but I am wondering if I could achieve this through vb (2008 express edition) rather than the access sql query itself. My overall goal is to compare one DB structure with another, an integrity check if you will.

Reading Information In A Test Box

Jun 22, 2009

Is it possible to do the following?

A user is prompt to enter a 3 digit code followed by a single letter, like this: 000A

is it possible to limit the input to the textbox to 4 characters? and is it also possible to create a function which detects which letter is at the end of the input so that it can put the data in the right place?

For example, if i have three folders, A folder, B Folder and C folder, can I create something to detect the last letter of the users input and based on that letter the input goes into the correct folder?

VS 2010 - Reading Text Information In Grid / Coordinate System

May 25, 2011

This project is based on a MUD, or at least originates from playing them. I have an ascii map where each character represents a type of terrain. I have found code for reading one line at a time, but I need to not only dictate which line to be read, but how many characters in to the line to read. Basically trying to make a grid/coordinate system, where I can tell it my location is 4, 7 and the program will read the fourth line, seventh character.

VB GridView Control Does Not Allow Code To Access Column When Column Has Visible Property Set To False

Apr 1, 2010

VB GridView control will not allow code in the vb code file to access a data column that has its visible property set to false. When it is set to true, the data column can be accessed with no problem. Any suggestions as to how to correct this? I have looked through the documentation, text books, and I have not found anything that gave me any clue as to what the problem could be. I thought that the property was just applied to the column, not that it would remove the column from being accessible.

MySQL Count Rows Count Rows And Gain Access To Other Information In A Row Based On Provoided Information

Oct 8, 2009

I have a fair bit of experience with VB.NET and C# (In this case I chose VB.NET, blame my laziness), but I do most of my professional work using PHP. I have no experience what so ever in using any database with VB.NET let alone MySQL.Just FYI, at the moment I am only trying to Query the database to gather the information required to activate. The Activation wizard and algorithm building (which is finished anyway), and everything else will come soon. I chose the MySQL database because I have experience with it, and it seems the best option for remote usage. The whole idea already works in PHP, I'm just have major issues moving it accross into VB.NET (Using the MySQL Connector.NET);I understand the basics, and all I need to know how to do is Count Rows and gain access to the other information in a row based on provoided information (in PHP, through mysql_ result)

So, here goes nothing, this is the Query code I am using in PHP to complete the job I want to do in VB.NET. [code] As you can see, I basically need to get the PHP code into VB.NET to fit into the 'btnQueryDB.Click' Command in VB.NET. By Equivalent, the Product ID in VB.NET will come from 'txtPID' and similar, Serial Number will come from txtSNUM. Once counted to be 1, the Activation Code and Status will be fed into 2 other text boxes in the form. (acCode, and acStatus).

Reading A Complete Column Of A Multidimensional Array At Once

Jun 10, 2011

I'm working on a piece of software to read a comma separated text files with thousands of lines each line has around 32 word separated with a comma What my code does at the moment it reads the file line by line choose 11 words out of the 32 and outputs them into a new file. This is actually time consuming although i used threads and a progress bar my manager still not happy. So i was thinking if i can read the whole text file into a 2 dimensional array and then choose certain Colums to output on the new file that will make it work much faster. But i don't know how to read a whole colum from a 2 dimensional array. And let's say for example the array is gonna be like array(9500)(32) where the first argument representing the number of lines and the second represents the number of fields in each line. Is there any way to access it like this array(all lines)(15) I'm using vb.net 2008

Auto-update A Listview Based On Reading A Column?

Mar 28, 2012

Is there a way to auto-update a listview based on reading a column?

Requirements:

1) The code must make a call to a user-created "Private Sub" to recalculate

2) Update must be automatic. .SelectedItem or clicking a row will not work

3) The formula function cannot be included in Form_Load

I've got everything working if the user selects a row, then clicks an "update" button using .SelectedItem. But with my current program containing 200 rows, it's not feasible. Simply put, how would I go about updating a listview column (0 in this case) based off a call to a formula, then updating the row?

Produce Checkbox Column In DatagridView While Reading From Xml File?

Oct 6, 2010

i am developing an application for generating xml file with some details inside and regenerating it whenever i need.Step1: In the user interface,i have placed a gridviewcontrol during run time. i used Datatable for building the table and assign this table as datasource to the datagridview control. last column("GHI") is a checkbox column and its is successfully viewable in the datagridview. the snippet is like this.

dim iDGVWCount as integer
iDGVWCount =1
Dim oDGVW As DataGridView

[code]....

Step 3: if i reopen this xml file and populate the celll details in datagridview, the column 'GHI' is not viewable as checkbox column. it is simply shown like an ordinary cell. the snippet for opening the xml file is shown here.

dim ds as dataset
ds = New DataSet
ds.ReadXml("C: estxml.xml")

[code]....

Question1 : is there any setting needs to be done for bring back this checkbox column automatically in the datagridview while reading from the xml file.

Question2 : how we can bring the value of unchecked column as false in the xml file. the node is included in the xml only if a checkbox is checked.
