I'm trying to develop an app to import a spreadsheet into an Access 97 database. I'm using Visual Studio 08. I'm stuck on the first step! I'm trying to use the Data Source Configuration Wizard to connect to the database, and when I get to the point where I choose which tables to add, I get the following error:

Could not get column information for database object named 'COPYtblMHPuse' This is for any table I try to add.

I have filled a listbox with a column of information from my sql database

Scenario: FormA has a DataGridView with a DataTable as it's DataSource. The DefaultView of the DataTable is set to a particular filter, say "UnitFreight < 2.00". The user selects multiple rows then selects a context menu item to open up form2. Form2 does a bunch of stuff and in this example it will change the UnitFreight value in the selected rows on form1 to say 2.27. It also raises an event in form1 to adjust attribute cells such as UnitPrice.
The issue is that doing the above example puts the selected rows out of the range of the applied filter and I believe this is the issue because I end up getting a "Column named UnitPrice cannot be found" error. This is happening during the update of those attribute columns. I'm guessing the row has been filtered out so there's no column to be found. If I do the update without the filter applied it works fine. So my question is, what's the best approach to updating the data in this situation. I've started converting the updates to work against the DataTable directly instead of the DataGridView.

I have a function that searches AD for members of various groups. If I remove the loop, I don't get the error "A column named 'cn' already belongs to this datatable", however, I need to iterate through each OU.

The program is currently trying to pull information from three different database tables and compiling the information onto one screen, to do this i am using three different connections and a function to handle the data at each stage. The issue is as my code hits PageLoadStage of "2" and runs the QueryDatabase() Function i am encountering an error of: "OleDB exception unhandled: No value given for one or more of the required parameters." This occurs on line 15 of the first code snippet. Can anyone explain this and/or identify any code issues if that is the cause.

I was able to understand visual basic 6 a bit, and i am trying to apply the coding to VB 2008 but all i get is errors. I am hopeless now and i need help to be able to start my programs. If someone can give me a sample code, i think i would be able to trace the line of code to be able to understand it. I have a table in an Access database named 'tblSubscriptions'. I need to check wether a user with a certain user id has any subscriptions but im not sure how i would go about it. The fields within the tblSubscriptions table are: User ID, Topic Code, Completed I'm assuming i'd need to use the following command: OleDbCommand("SELECT 'Topic Code' FROM tblSubscriptions WHERE 'User ID' = '" & Username)But i wouldn't know how to use an if statement to check whether the user has any subscriptions.

This is something that's been bugging me for a while. Say I have a dgv with several columns and rows of data. Many times while working with the grid, it's necessary to know the number of the column, but all you know is the column header name, or vice versa. Is there any internal command that will return these values, or is there at least a better solution to the problem than making a function that loops through every header name until you find the one you want? It just seems so inefficient.

I verified the file exists and is checked out for edit. This is in my app.config:

I want to dynamically call form, but after the form is closed and reopen i got the error "Cannot access a disposed object named "MainForm"". I've been searching about this error and found out that basically i'm trying to access invalid control.
My question is how i can use the object again? I mean closing and opening form is very common thing to do, so it should be able to be accessible trough the run time. To give you better perspective [code]...

i tried creating a dataset using the myodbc driver 5.1 (which im sure is correctly typed in because that is the exact same connection string i used for data manipulation within my app.now, im stuck. i cannot generate any reports because the dataset i created can not return any field information w/c is confusing because it displays the names of the tables from the database. is there any way i can import all the data i need to my reports programatically??

I have created a post in the Database/Access section with no luck, here, but I am wondering if I could achieve this through vb (2008 express edition) rather than the access sql query itself. My overall goal is to compare one DB structure with another, an integrity check if you will.

I have a dataset with a number of data columns, due to sizing issues I've updated a number of the varchar columns from say VARCHAR(20) to VARCHAR(50).I'd like the DataTable to automatically grab the new column information, is this possible? I'd rather not go through each column in the table and update the length.

I have a vb.net application which runs as a service. I also have another Windows application that serves as the service interface.In brief the service watches some folders for new files and imports them into various databases. In the service I have an class called 'importFile' containing basic properties such as 'FileName' and 'ImportStatus'. With each new incoming file I create a new instance of 'importFile' and add it to a list object called myFiles which is of the type: List (of importFile).Currently in my service im writing a few object details (such as ImportStatus) to an XML config file which is in turn read by the service interface application. I want to expose more information from the service to the interface, and communicating via xml doesn't feel like its the most efficient method.My question is how do I expose live objects, such as 'myFiles' in my service to my interface application? I think this can be done via the Process class but all my efforts have so far failed.I'm thinking that the solution may look something like the following, but im not too sure what im doing and could be way off:

This is something that has been bugging me for a while as it is easily fixed but not desirable.I have a DataGridView that has 5 columns.
