Also i am using Crystal Reports for Report solution. my question is How do i created reports such a way that they can be printed in faster Ascii Format on any DotMatrix printer. The default true type fonts make printing very slower.
I tried to use "Draft 10 cpi" font which come to available me after i installed a correct driver for my Epson printer. which also helped me overcome this problem. however it wont be the scenario with all my clients i.e. they might have different printers having different Make with different drivers installed. i have tried to open such project on there PC but the printing wont come in Draft instead the fonts get expanded too much & the print wont come right.
I basically have an application that generates reports in a .html file, I use a .html file for the ease of making tables and formatting text.Now I would like to introduce a way of printing the reports from my program. Because I use a .html file, the formatting would not the correct if I was to print it directly from my application (as far as I know). For this reason, I would like to print it just like my web browser would have in order to keep the tabular data intact and the text formatting.
View 1 RepliesI'm creating an application which has an scheduler to print and it checks if there is a pending job on the print queue before it prints the next file. I use a timer which checks if there is any file to be printed on my database. Example, the timer ticks and selected 10 files to be printed, it should print the 10 files 1 at a time, if there's no print queue, that's the only time the next file should print. I think another timer is required which will keeps on checking if print queue is done. How will i do this?

When I print the output to a PDF file using PDFCreator, it stacks all of the letters onto each other rather than creating new lines at the places I've specified. I've also tried using vbNewLine instead of vbCrLf, but I haven't had any luck. I searched the web for this but couldn't find anything about it.

Problem occurs when I try to search the master table to bring in the detail table. Searching the master table shows only the master record, but not the related detail records. I have a database with 3 tables: Student, Unavailability and Duty.The fields for Student are entered in a form I have. One of the fields in Unavailability is filled by a form, the other fields are an autonumber and a foreign key to the Student table.ow I want records in the Duty table to be created and automatically filled in depending on what the values of the fields are in the Student table.For example, If the Boarder field in the Student table is 'yes' then I want the Duty Number field in the Duty table to be '1', '3' and '4'. If it is 'no' then I want the value to be '2' and '5'. I recognize it will have to create several different records to incorporate the different duty numbers for each StudentID. Obviously this will require an if statement, however this is my first time implementing a database with my limited experience with programming and Visual Basic, so I don't know how to refer to the specific fields in a table and set the value of other fields depending on the data in other fields.

I'm having a problem over here; I'm developing a DirectX 9 application, and for some reason, I can't figure the way to close the application completely. This has never happened to me, to be honest. I am using Application.Exit(), which doesn't seem to do anything - it just closes the form, but the program is still running. I have been making a text based noughts and crosses game and trying to convert an alpha grid reference into a number to run the logic sequence that decides whether the an input is valid. Solved it with XmlTextWriter
For some reason I can not get some fields to calculate correctly. It seems anything I enter over 24 in the Pay Rate field it throws it spits out the exact numbers I am trying to multiply. The FWT (0.2), FICA(0.08),and State fields (0.25) respectively.

View 4 RepliesI 'm having no trouble coding, I'm back to my initial printing problems. The program printed Avery labels in a variety of sizes. I created the label templates on 8.5 x 11 forms and then printed the forms. This cannot be done in VB 2008 for a variety of reasons:
1) The form size cannot be larger than the screen size I got around this by creating a new form class that matched my dimensions.
2) printform only does screen shots. This was a major barrier. First of all I can't get printform to print my custom form because it's not a member of system.window.forms.form, it's a class in system.window.forms.usercontrol. However, even if it was in the correct class, it wouldn't work correctly because printform in VB.net, does a screen capture of the form and then reduces the image on the printout.
So that is my dilema. I do not know how to use the reporting tool, but I can see that it must be binded to a database. Although my application does use a database, I want to be able to massage the data before printing it. And the application does more than just print labels. There are also custom reports that need to be printed.
