I have a MyList (List Of Longs) in which I need the check a specific relation between any two members of that list, if the relation-check returns true I need to delete checked member.I was used to do something like that with 2 For Next Loops, is there a better way. Would it even work that way with Lists? What is happening when an Item is removed from the List that has not been called by the outer For-Next yet? [code]
I have been working with getting a recursive directory list function going and an attempt that I was considering doesn't seem to work.As it doesnt seem to return all folders.
Public aFolderList As New System.Collections.ArrayList() Sub recurseDirs(ByVal sPath As String) Dim dirInfo As DirectoryInfo = New DirectoryInfo(sPath) Dim subDirs As DirectoryInfo
I have a series of text files in multipule diffrent sub directories. I found the following functions on the Internet:
Private Overloads Function Recursive(ByVal strPath As String) Dim oDir As New System.IO.DirectoryInfo(strPath) Dim oSubDir() As System.IO.DirectoryInfo
I wrote this code. It works, but when the directory has a lot of subfolders it freezes up. I really only need to access the folders created in the last 24 hours. I cannot however figure out how to compare the subfolder to time.
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim di As New IO.DirectoryInfo("V:E72")
I wrote a Windows Forms script that searched for all non-hidden and non-readonly folders in my system. But the script itself, when run initially, runs for like 5 minutes. Subsequent opens take much less time. I was wondering if there is a logical error to it, so as to why its running so very slow.
Private Function FindSubFolders(ByVal dir As DirectoryInfo, ByVal node As TreeNode) As TreeNode Dim subnode As New TreeNode For Each folder As DirectoryInfo In dir.GetDirectories()
I'm using a recursive search to find all of the controls on my form and then do something with those controls once I find them. This is the basic layout:
I have a series of text files in multipule diffrent sub directories. I found the following functions on the Internet:
CODE:
The functions will make a direcotry tree in my debug window, that looks something like this:
CODE:
What I want it to do is to have it return an array of relitive file paths, from the starting direcotry I give the function. Then I will use a loop to cycle though each file in the array to make certain changes.
I'm a beginner to VB.NET. I'd like to make a simple backup program, and therefore I need a way to get a list of all files in a folder, and all subfolders. I've been searching the forum for "recursive file list", but it's too difficult for me to understand. Any simple way to get all files in a folder and all subfolders?
I want to exit a recursive function once the a number is repeated in a list. i.e. In the following code I have 'AST' as a list. How can I stop adding data to the list once the first number repeated?
The result in the below code is: 1 2 4 5 1 2 4 5 1 2 4 5 1 2 4 5 1 2 4 5 1 1 3 3 5 6 3 3 1 3 3 5 6 3 3 1 3 3 5 6 1 5 6 1 5 6 1 What I want for AST to be: 1 2 4 5 1, because 1 is repeated.
Just Add to your form a richtextbox and a button. Public Class Form1 Dim TheConnectionsValue(6, 6) As Integer Dim NumberOfNodes ]Code] .....
Another program I am working on for fun, I am basically shuffling a list inside a listbox, what I want to do is delete the rest but not sure how to go through with that. At the moment I have this: [code] Just contains the code, declarations outside weren't included. So anyway, once clicked, it will call on the function to basically shuffle in a for loop, I was wondering if I should (or how should) create another function and call it in the click button or have just a loop in the click button so it deletes half the list. What I am doing is I have 20 list of items, I want the program to shuffle the items and then deleting the lower 10, meaning, if I had 10 items and wanted 5 top, I'd want: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and deleting 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
i want to search item A (from a list of X items) in list B but i want to get the item not found example Search ITEM A in LIST B if not found then return a print....if found continue with ITEM B..and so on.
On my add button i still have to add codes that disables my navigation buttons and and my search button... and add codes that will enable them in save button... im still new thats why my codes are just simple if, else if, else conditions that just manipulates enable, visible, text, properties..also if i search my data will be search but my textboxes only shows the searched data.. i still have to add button that will only be visible if the program finds a data... and this button function is to remove the filter..rather than disabling some functions i want a messagebox to prompt the user that this functions arent functionable...
Look at my codes... i find it lame... its kinda irritating always just using True and false..
Public Class moviesForm
Private Sub moviesForm_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load

I have a delete method for a binary search tree. It only deletes the last two entered values. When trying to delete the root or anything to left of it it returns a null pointer exception.
PublicFunction Delete(ByVal key AsInteger) AsBoolean Dim current AsNode = root Dim parent AsNode = root Dim isLeftChild AsBoolean = True While (current.value <> key) parent = current If (key < current.value) Then isLeftChild = True current = current.rightNode Else

I have a delete method for a binary search tree that only deletes the last two values that were entered in, and when it tries to delete anything to the left of the root or even the root itself it returns a null pointer exception.

I have a datagrid control with a list of names that it retrieves from a MySql database. I can search through them until i have one result. I want to be able to Display a groupbox control when the number of results is equal to 1. Also, in the groupbox i have a button that when clicked will delete this user from the server and their information from the mysql table called "employee". when the user is deleted i'll display a confirmation message in a messagebox, and reload the table with the updated list. so far the only two problems i have are showing the groupbox when the results are equal to 1 and deleting the user from the sql server based on the name of the search result
Private Sub TextBox1_KeyUp(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles TextBox1.KeyUp 'Search Function.

i have a simple application which can create/update/delete/search records using Access database. If i add a record, save it, then close the application and run it again and search for that record, it appears. However, when i write some code to my application, nothing to do with the search function, and i run the application the record is not found. For example i added a button to clear the textfields, and when i ran the application the records i have added earlier were not found.
I am using MS Access 2007 as database and VB 2008 to build an application to show the content of 2 tables as a single table.I have two tables in MS Access and i have linked both the tables using "ID" as primary key(1st Table),foreign key(2nd Table). I used Query Wizard to show the data of both tables in a single table(3rd Table).I am able to view the content of all 3 tables using datagridview in vb 2008(Using Code), but i am unable to add, delete, save and search the content of the table using code. My concern is,i will be able to do all these operations using codes only.Would you please help me out in this.
