have a main form that displays a users score.I hide the main form when going to a child form.When that child form is closed, it will show the main form.The problem is that the datathat has been changed when going to the child form is not displayed on the main form since it has not been closed.Is there anyway around this?

View 4 RepliesVB Windows form Application.. I am developing an application of which part of the program is around configuration settings allowing the user to enter configuration items. When the menubar item for configuration menu is clicked on the main form the menu opens.This is fine but the mainform should not become active again until the configuration menu has closed. This does not happen right now and the mainform simply comes to the foreground and the configuration form goes to the background... I realize that coding an event on the Child form to handle this would not work because the child window loses control and the main form gains control.. I thought of coding a function as follows on the main form but it does not seem logical because i would have to add to it for everyform and do checking to make sure the child is actually open before trying to close it..

I am working on a huge multiform project for my company, and one of the few issues I am having is that when I am on the Main Menu Form, then go into a specific form (i.e Sales Order, etc.), do updates, changes, or just view data then close the Sales Order Form, if I happen to go back into the Sales Order Form without closing the entire project, then the Sales Order Form will display data instead of opening a blank form like when I first opened it.
Is there something that I should be adding to the Form Close Event to dump all of the data or refresh the data adapters so that if I open the form again, it will display a blank form that is ready to be used like when I first opened it?
I have tried using;
Me.Dispose()
Me.Close()
when closing these subforms, but if I open them again, the data fields (combo boxes and text boxes) will have random data in them.

I have tried to write a simple function to bring an Internet Explorer windows to the foreground and then press F5 to refresh it using the dll function: Declare Function SetForegroundWindow Lib "user32" (ByVal hwnd As Integer) As Integer
and then later call this function using:

However, when I tried to debug the code, the setforeground does not work.I am using a Windows 2008 (64 bit) so I thought I should use ToInt64 instead. However that did not seem to do the trick as well, when I called SetForegroundWindow, nothing seems to come up.
I am using Visaul Basic 2008 and have 3 textboxes and 3 columns in Listview. My problem is that when I save the data from textbox to listview the data has been saved successfully but when I close the form and open it again there is no data to seen mean all the data destroyed.

The above code is what I used in VB6 to close all forms associated with my programs before my program closed. I have been searching for information on how to make sure all forms are closed when closing a VB2008 program.
I have seen info on using the Project Property Shutdown mode When startup form closes and I currently have this set.
Is this all that is really necessary? Will the garbage disposal close everything else to free up RAM?
Also, if I have several forms open and want to close all from the main form without closing each one individually, what is the best approach? Is there a collection like in VB6, go through the collection, compare it to the name of the main form and close it if it is not the main form?

When I open the page as below the new window with the content is shown properly.When I press the Cancel button, the dialog box is closed as well as 'IsCancel' is set to true.However, I'm not able to close the window when I click the 'OK' button With WindowsForms I used 'me.close' or 'me.hide', but I did not find this in WPF I found 'Application.Current.MainWindow.Close()' but this only close the MAIN window - the dialog remains open not very useful.

View 1 RepliesI've created an app, which puts windows onto the desktop. When i click on the window it creates a new window and passes the first window's Items collection to the second window's Items collection. Opening the second window adds around 2-4 megs of memory to the app's mem usage. Now if i close the second window, the memory still stays on the same level as when the window was opened. When closing the window, i reset the Items property and clear all images that i'm using in it. It has a wrappanel with some elements, that's also cleared using the .clear function of the wrappanel.children. What else should i do to free up the memory?

If I close my window before that thread finishes, it throws a Invoke or BeginInvoke cannot be called on a control until the window handle has been created., when doing the Invoke.I've modified the code to look like the following:[code]However it still hits the Invoke line and throws the error. View 1 RepliesBasically I have two forms - Form1 has a DataGrid on it (Infragistics) and in the double-click row event it creates an instance of the EditForm and passes along the UniqueId for editing. Once the user saves the changes (if they make changes) - I want the DataGrid on Form1 to refresh. Here is how I thought I could get this to work ... I create a public property called RefreshRequired as boolean. Before unloading the EditForm it sets this property to true. Then Unloads. This continues the code in Form1 (which showed the EditForm as modal) but RefreshRequired is still showing as False? Why isn't my EditForm able to set the property?

I had issues in refreshing a form that is bound to different tables in a database. Various forms allow the user to change and add and update information on the form via the database. I had created a public sub in that form that the other forms could call, after saving the data, that was supposed to refresh the data on the main form. This was not working so I researched the problem. I came across this page which pertains to Form.Activated: [url]
I placed all of the table adapter fills into this event, instead of in Form_Load, and it seems to work now, when the form first loads, and when other forms update data. My question is does anyone have experience using this and what are the consequences, if any, in using this to reload/refresh the data showing on the form?

The popup window comes by pressing F4 or ALT+DOWN keys which is getting closed if I press the down arrow for the first time after showing the first value in the combo box as selected. Next time onwards, if I press the F4 key and down arrow, I can move to any item in the popup window and select the item using keyboard and in that case, the popup window is not getting closed till I press the ENTER key or selection using the Mouse. Is there any specific reason for this behavior or something is missing in my code part?

Clicking add new record, i fired a second form as my data entry with detail view through databinding, minus navigational buttons. I left the delete and save button only. Once through data entry, i save it on server. My problem is, how can i reflect the added record on the first form while i am on my second form? I prefer the new record be added only to the first form. I don't want the idea of retrieving the records again from my server.

View 3 RepliesI am trying to refresh a datagridview from a second form to display newly written data. I have read the posts on this topic and can't figure mine out. My first form opens and you input data into text fields, etc. and then you need to select items from one table to copy and write to a new table. The datgridview on the first form shows the new table, and I have a new form that pops up to select the line items to add. Everything works perfectly except when I close the selection form after selecting lines, I would like the datgridview on the first form to refresh to show that the lines have been selected and displayed in the datagrid.
My data is loaded into the datagridview as so;

I've been working on this game the past few days, a simple game where two people control different tanks, and shoot each other, very basic so far.The problem I have is when one player is dead. I have the form recognizing each players death by using this code (It's within a timer subroutine)

and that code is replicated for every key pressed (Arrow keys, WASD, e, and end). Those booleans are handled in a timer subroutine, where if the boolean is true, they will move/shoot. (Turning the booleans to false is done in the 'Private Sub KeysUp' subroutine)
TL;DR How do I get the game to restart itself when a player dies and hits the replay button?
P.S. I've tried 'Me.Refresh()' as well, and that didn't do anything
I would like the client app being able to refresh the data every 30 minutes.
