I'm having issues with finding something in list, and removing the item, ignoring the case of characters in string.
The code goes:

Here I'd like to remove all items from listItems, that are abc, no matter what case single characters of item are, including mixed case items. So in this example, every items should be removed

If I change pattern to match the case of item, then item #2 gets removed:
pattern = "abc"
listItems.Remove(listItems.Find(Function(r) r = pattern))
How can I find item in listItems, ignoring the case characters in pattern?
I know how to remove duplicates in an array (have a simple function for that) but now I was trying to do the same in a matches collection and I can't get anything to work somehow.
In this case the matches collection has a few duplicates that I want to remove.

i have tried the intellisense menu to the limit on finding something other than .contains to use in order to only replace if it matches exactly the item in the listbox. no luck. ;o/

I have a school project i am working on wich i am to build a program that randomly generates 500 alpha-numeric numbers (license plate numbers). the program needs to be able to search the 500 numbers and based on given criteria (a text box) that you put in return the matching results to another listbox. I got the 500 plate numbers to generate on form load but have been searching thru my textbook and cant seem to figure out how to take the imput from the text box and search the list box. I am working on a utility to reformat a text file. Working on language to remove duplicate record entries. However there are desirable ("keeper") duplicates and then those I want to remove. I handled the problem by temporarily assigning a unique number to each @D line, then stripping them off after I've removed duplicates. So far so good, except in removing unwanted duplicates I have an extra of the "keeper" duplicates left that doesn't get removed. See below. I am wondering if there is a way to search for a line in a textbox starting with a certain character, but is also proceeded by 2 blank lines and followed by 1 blank line. I'm trying to match up a specific group name and see if it exists for the currently logged in user using Active Directory roles. If the Group Name exists for the Current User, I want that group name to be displayed in a drop down list. I have a list box on the form which functions as a copy/paste. When you copy something, it is automatically added to the list box as a "clipboard helper". Here is the problem,however: if the text is more than 1 line, the list box does not show all the text.It ends up looking messy.So getting back to my question, is it possible to make the list box item height for an item depending on the amount of lines that item contains?This is a one line sentence in the list box and should take up one line.This is a multi line sentence in the list box and should take up two lines for item height.

I'm having some difficulty with a sorted & grouped listbox in WPF vb.net 3.5 that has an items source bound to an ObservableCollection.
What I want to be able to do is to retrieve a piece of data from the ObservableCollection items source depending on what item in the listbox the user has selected.I've almost got it working but because the listbox is sorted it does not match the index of the items source.

I want to evaluate the current DataItem being bound to a repeater and remove it from being added if my condition meets. I would have thought that setting e.Item.DataItem to Nothing would work, but it does not. Any ideas how to not add a DataItem to the repeater when a certain condition meets?

my program downloads into a combobox every item(line) that is in a text file located on a server.
Every line in the text file ends with "a)" or with "g)".
Now I just want to make 3 radio buttons:
- one that will allow the download in the combobox only the item ending with "g)"
- one that will allow the download in the combobox only the item ending with "a)"
- one that will allow the download in the combobox of both (I already know how to do).
How can I do so?
