Is There A Specific Save Command That Updates Access File Permanently

Jun 17, 2010

1.) I dragged my detail view over to the form window to create a bindingnavigator, fields, etc. When I press save on the form, the database is temporairly saved. However, if I save my visual basic project, I lose all the changes I have made to my database. Is there a specific save command that updates the access file permanently? The default command added by dragging over the dataset does not work.

2. My database is accessed with the following string:[code]However, doesn't this mean that the database MUST be placed in that specific folder on any PC? Is there a way to simply build the database into the compile so the program automatically generates the database when installed on anyones computer?

3.) This might be fixed by fixing the previous two issues, but if I compile my program and try to install it, I get an error message "Could not download the application. The application is missing required files."

Format SQL Datetime Field As String

May 13, 2011

In my VB project I am returning an SQL datetime field to a date variable mdtCreated = CType(oReader("dtCreated"), Date) In an example it returns mdtCreated as #5/13/2011 2:59:43 PM# which is correct. Later on I want to show this as a string to dd/mm/yyyy format. I have tried mdtCreated.ToString("dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss") But that returns "13/59/2011 02:59:43". I want it to return "13/05/2011 14:59:43" How can I achieve this?

C# - Remove A Trailing Part Of String In .NET?

Jun 12, 2012

For removing trailing part is I use the code

str.substring(0,str.length -2)

Is there a better way? I especially dislike using str.length.

Edit I wanted the question to be as short and simple as possible and I supposed that I just overlooked some String method. I try to be more precise.

I need to remove given number of characters from the end of a string. I don't want to care what the characters are and I don't want to introduce a risk of removing more characters.

If the number is larger then string length let's there is an exception (the string should be validated earlier).

I don't have the problem especially with length, but with referencing a variable twice (imagine a function instead of a variable). I also don't like necessity of subtraction but it is only a personal preference.

The question is taged vb.net so there is vb.net code (should be in a module):

<System.Runtime.CompilerServices.Extension> _
Public Shared Function RemoveFromEnd(stringValue As String, removedCharacters As Integer) As String
Return stringValue.Substring(0, stringValue.Length - removedCharacters)
End Function
