I am importing data from CSV file into a dataset using OLEDB data adaptor.I created a query with query builder to extract the desired data then copied the text generated into my code. Everything works as it should exepct that the seconds part of a datetime column is missing when the code is run.The odd thing about this is that the seconds part appears when i execute the query in query builder.[code]

Previously I converted a string with year, month, day and minutes/seconds using
CDateTime(conYear, conMonth, conDay, conHour, conMinute, conSecond)
This code will no longer work in VB.net and I cannot figure out how to do this with 2005 VS. The string originally is something like "20100310142715" and should be broken down into year, month, day, hour, minute, second.
i've been searching for a way to delay a part of my program to let another part load, all i have found is threading sleep and one way which uses huge amounts of processing power. does anyone know a simple way to pause a part of script for a couple of seconds and then letting it run again? ( the problem is i need to get values from core temp, i also need to open it in the program. at the moment it say's "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." because it hasn't loaded by the time it is tried to be accessed. )
View 8 RepliesI have a web app that sets a var setT to DateTime.Now. This var is used to set a "lastUpdate" field in a database and Cache("ltu"). This value is also added to a cookie. the problem I'm having is that comparing the cookie value and the cahed value show that the cookie value is earlier than the cached value, eventhough it is the same value that cam from the setT var.I'm assuming that the fractional seconds are being set to 0000's in the cookie by some means which is the only explaination I can come up with.Now, Is there some way I can set the origianal setT DateTime.now value to not have fractional seconds, or zero fractional seconds?Do you think I'm going about this correctly?

The pattern should have succesfull match if the source string is either DAY1 or DAY2 or DAY3 to DAY31 like so.

I have a bound datagridview and a dataset with tables.
I have two sets of comboboxes bound to the same field "Restaurant" in the tables (mirroring each other).
In the "NewEmployeeRestaurant" combobox I change the value and it reflects in the datagridview. I can shoot around clicking all over the datagridview on other employees, but when I return to the employee I changed, the value remains what I changed it to. All is good in the world.
However, when I go to the "EmployeeRestaurant" combobox with the same settings, I change the value and it is reflected in the datagridview. So far so good. But when I go to another employee then click back on that employee I changed, the datagridview still shows the new value but the combobox is empty! NOT COOL!
I am using Visual Studio 2008.
I have my project set to "Copy if New"
I created a form with variuos fields from a table.
I hit F5 to run the application and enter in test data and save.
I exit the project and then go back in and the new data is there.
I exit the visual studio 2008 completely and then go back in and the new data is there.
I did the above last night several time and the new data was always there.
This morning all of the new data I entered is gone... I have NOT changed the data base schema at all.

View 6 RepliesI posted earlier this week about reading in data from a csv/txt file into an array. My data is huge, 100 columns and 12000+ rows. I would like to name variables by column and then plot these variables. After I read the data line by line and delimit the row, I'm not sure how to put each integer into it's own separate column, and then continue this for the next row and the next row, ect.
After some reading I would imagine the proper way to do this would be by creating a structure and then read the data into the structure, but there's no real starter example/tutorial out there that does this. I know some people will read this and get pissy, but you've got to realize I'm coming from Matlab and vb.net is a huge change for me.

I have this code that will import the excel sheet to the datatable then inserts it in the database, but I have this problem.I have set the HDR to yes so that the first row will be considered as its header, but the problem now is that if the first row is null, the datatable will automatically named it's header as f1,f2 and so on. how can I set the header as null if the first row is null? so I can validate it afterwards

Another noob question from me...one of these days I'll get the hang of this VB!I am importing data from an Access table that has four columns/fields. I have set up the relevant headings etc on the list view control...but I have also set up a 5th column as I want to have that representing the percentage change between columns 3 and 4 (which are numeric).

View 3 Repliesim making an application in vb.net (duh!) anyway i have created and coded the whole project and it performs exactly as i want it to (i dont need code help). my problem lies with the fact that my project is 2-3 parts
1.a setup form that gathers inital data about the enviroment stores this data encrypted in a config file. after inital setup this form is not displayed again. but needs to be run on both computers
2. the second form is the real application form im in the process of turning this part in to a background service anyway this form is the one that establishes the connection between two nodes it works correctly
3. the config files
anyway here is my problem i want to make this application distributional with just one file the (.exe) and have this .exe make everything else happen. it runs the setup form and creates the first config file which it does then it needs to produce a copy of just the second form and the config file to transfer to workstation #2 that will run independtly without the whole application which i cant make happen then it needs to turn both workstations application on by only starting one on either computer and invoke the other computer to start its corrosponding app also no idea how to make this happen any ideas or suggestions as to where to look to try to find my answers.im thinking i might need to make two seperate applications (a setup app, and the running app) and include them both in a project and use the setup.exe to to package them together this is a little side project that im making for my self to use to make programming a little easier so i plan on giving it out to some fellow students to test and tell me what they think so im not really worried about ease of use or complicated procedures yet but if it turns out to work and actually be of use to anyone else i would be willing to rewrite it to distribute to the masses but for now i just want it to work for me.
I have a code which can get the MAX value of distinct "SYSID" field. Now, I plan to add a data filtering by time - Start and End time. I have tried but getting all sorts of error and can't get what I'm after for. So the program should do the data filtering (data >=starttime and data <=endtime) first before getting the max value of "SYSID"
