I posted earlier this week about reading in data from a csv/txt file into an array. My data is huge, 100 columns and 12000+ rows. I would like to name variables by column and then plot these variables. After I read the data line by line and delimit the row, I'm not sure how to put each integer into it's own separate column, and then continue this for the next row and the next row, ect.
After some reading I would imagine the proper way to do this would be by creating a structure and then read the data into the structure, but there's no real starter example/tutorial out there that does this. I know some people will read this and get pissy, but you've got to realize I'm coming from Matlab and vb.net is a huge change for me.
I have a website where people do the data entry. I have data stored in SQL server. Now I need to push the data to 3rd party to do some analysis work. What are my options to do this kind of job?
I'm currently trying to use ZedGraph to plot a graph based on some data I have extracted from a machine, with reference to a user entered "Frequency" range. I has to be a line graph, with Frequency on the X-axis, and extracted data on the Y-axis. There are 4 channels for the machine, but all data values extracted are close to each other, so multiple Y-axes are not needed. I'm also trying to do it within a class, and the graph should only be drawn when I click "Button3", otherwise there would be no data anyway and button2 extracts the data.
Below are my class (the graph code is at the bottom) and form1, which button3 should call the class, but I'm stuck for both the button interfacing and the class writing. I have also attached the output I get so you can have a look at what I need. Open it in Excel to see the format. The whole program is also attached as a text file if you prefer it that way.
I am working on a program where I need a small database. I wanted to use XML to store the data, so I followed this tutorial:Everything there works fine. What I now want to do is figure out how to execute SQL statements against the imported data to do inserts and queries.I've searched and searched, but cannot seem to find relevant info. Every example I see needs a connection string, but that doesn't apply here as far as I can tell.
I have this code that will import the excel sheet to the datatable then inserts it in the database, but I have this problem.I have set the HDR to yes so that the first row will be considered as its header, but the problem now is that if the first row is null, the datatable will automatically named it's header as f1,f2 and so on. how can I set the header as null if the first row is null? so I can validate it afterwards
ut refreshing a databound Combobox After New Data in Imported into the Database. As it seems not be updating Without Closing the Form Thus resetting the Binding Source. but how can i do this on the Fly Lets say on the Combobox is Clicked it dose the updated List?
Its starting to be Quite Irritating That it is dosen't seem to be affected by: ComboBox1.ResetText() ComboBox1.Refresh()
Another noob question from me...one of these days I'll get the hang of this VB!I am importing data from an Access table that has four columns/fields. I have set up the relevant headings etc on the list view control...but I have also set up a 5th column as I want to have that representing the percentage change between columns 3 and 4 (which are numeric).
Here's my code. What I want to know, is that having confused myself with code I've written / adapted from advice given etc where do I put in a forumula to add something to a column in my list view that is a calculation based on two columns imported from the table?
I am importing data from CSV file into a dataset using OLEDB data adaptor.I created a query with query builder to extract the desired data then copied the text generated into my code. Everything works as it should exepct that the seconds part of a datetime column is missing when the code is run.The odd thing about this is that the seconds part appears when i execute the query in query builder.[code]
I'm trying to calculate the average hours worked from a set of data imported from a text file using streamreader. My problem is counting the number of entries and the total hours worked imported from a text file within a loop[.
I have a problem reading data from an RFID-reader. I connect to the reader by tcp and wait for DataAvailable to be true, then reading the data until I got a end of data character. Then I just go back and waiting for a new DataAvailable. This is done in a own thread for the function.
There seems to be some kind of timeout, If I don't got any data in a couple of minutes, then it just sits there in the do/loop waiting for DataAvailable. I hold the card to the RFID reader, it beeps, but there is no data available. I don't get any exeptions, and the information says that the clientsocket is still connected. Are there anything more I can check?
If I put the card to the reader in a minute-interval it seems as this will never occur. So 2-3 minutes idle:ing seems to do this.
Here are my code to read data from the socket, I have taken away some irrelevant code:
Sub test(ByVal ip As String, ByVal port As Integer) ' this sub is meant to run forever
Im working on a HSD 32 bit data bus to serial converter via a microcontroller. Now first I want to make a sort of data sniffer to read the data bus (32Bit) .All on the controller side is working and the stream of bytes are coming in via RS232 as 4 bytes in HEX like FD,A5,45,8B . I already converted the bytes in Dec and ASCII to determine what is passed true the bus and how fast and stuff.. Now that is all correct and working very well if the LSB (least significant bit) of the 32 data bus is Data line 0 and the MSB (most significant bit) is Data line 31 but if that is not the case I need to invert the 32Bits (like as I would invert the connector on the bus) . How do I best do this using the 4 bytes I send from the micro controller.
Example:
(MSB) 01001000 01100101 01101100 01110000 (LSB) HEX= 48 65 6C 70 DEC= 72,101,108,112 ASCII= H E L P
I need to control a device with a GPIB port. I have the commands that I need to use to do this; but I don't know which is the sintaxis in Visual Basic.
For example if I need to send a instruction like "START:0.01" to the external device which are the libraries that I have to include?, how should I write the programming line to do this?
The main tasks that I need to program are sending data, receiving data, and saving data
I have a basic application that allows pre-defined users to use the application. The Username & passwords along with some other basic user info is stored in a simple access dbIn my application I want a user to login, Username & PasswordI create a connection string, a data adapter and a dataset, I then need to validate the password the user has entered.Would it be best to query the access db directly, or the dataset?
I am having an issue on the listbox when the new data value equal to previous data then = to "0". However, I want if the new data value( A ) is equal to the previous data( B ) then ( A ) equal to ( B ).
Delegate Sub ListBoxUpdater(ByRef listbox As ListBox, ByRef str As Object) Private Sub OnQuoteUpdate(ByRef QuoteUpdate As LingLib.structQuoteUpdate) UpdateListBox(lbBox, QuoteUpdate.tQuote) End Sub
[code]....
My problem is when the new data comes out from the API, if it is equal to the previous data and it will appear 0. But what i want is the new data comes out is 0 and it will equal to previous data. e.g: first data comes out is 12.00, in above case, if the second data comes out is 12.00 but it will shows 0 which means unchanged. But in my case now, i want if the first data come out is 12.00, then if the next data is unchanged (0) and it will appear 12.00 and so on.
I am currently working on a API. I am having an issue on the listbox when the new data value equal to previous data then = to "0". However, I want if the new data value( A ) is equal to the previous data( B ) then ( A ) equal to ( B ).
Private Sub UpdateListBox(ByRef listbox As ListBox, ByRef str As Object) If (listbox.InvokeRequired) Then Me.BeginInvoke(New ListBoxUpdater(AddressOf UpdateListBox), listbox, str)
I'm reading data from the microphone and want to perform some analysis on it. I'm attempting to generate a spectrum analyser something like this:
What I have at the moment is this:My understanding is that I need to perform a Fourier analysis - a Fast Fourier Transform ? - to extract the component frequencies and their amplitudes.
Can someone confirm my understanding is correct and exactly what type of Fourier transform I need to apply?
At the moment, I'm getting frames containing 4k samples from the mic (using NAudio). The buffer I've got is 16bits/sample (Signed Short). For reference, the above plot shows approx half a frame I'm coding in VB so any .Net libraries/examples (preferably on NuGet) would be of most use. I believe implementations vary considerably so the less I have to massage my data, the better.
documents that are required for a project. Such as:e.g: What sort of document I have create at the requirement analysis phase...etc I need to know all the documents that are required from start to end of the software project.
What's the part that MSF (Microsoft Solutions framework) plays? If we need to use MSF, what sort of documents that are required from it?
Write a program to analyze a list of grades to determine the number of A's, B's, C's, etc. after applying a curve percentage selected by the user. When the form loads it should contain all the grades and available curves in the list boxes on the left. The user selects a curve and clicks the "Apply Curve" button. The program should display the curved grades (based upon the selected curve) and the grade distribution in the list boxes on the right?
I'm using VB 2005, and am hoping to have streaming video to my application with some sort of video analysis. Right now as a test, I have an axWindowsMediaPlayer control playing a video from a URL. I'm figuring I need to be able to detect the colors of the pixels in the video for simple analysis, but I haven't been able to do this yet. I've been able to view the pixel colors in every area of the screen except for the media player window (just shows up black, as if you were to make a screenshot of the media player video). Is this at all possible to do?
I decided to try the Code Analysis tool that came with VB2010 (at some levels). It produced LOTS of fascinating comments. Many of the comments make no sense, such as one about not disposing of a type on all paths when there is only one path that ends with an explicit call to object.Dispose. I think the analysis engine is looking at some of the calls, but they all return to the caller properly.
I'm using VB2008 and I have ZedGraph on a form. I want the graph control to display the value of a constantly changing variable. How do I do this in code?
i want to create a table that include a current year data and as well as previous data to be compare. here is the example of the table that i want to create: but i want to compare one of the annual data with the previous year. as example i want to compare between the data of current AR of 2007 with the current AR for 2006, Current AR of 2006 with current AR for 2005 and go on~, but i have no idea how to do it.
I have two data tables. the second related to the first. Using a datagridview for the first table I am able to enter and save data ok. if I run the code twice in a row the data is still there. When I edit the data in the related table in it's own datagirdview the data is there and displays correctly, but on running the code a second time the related data is lost. In both cellendedit events I am using
I have just started with vb and would like to know if there is a way to input several boxes of data on one form and display individual pieces of that data on several other forms at timed events in the future?
