Sep 15, 2009I am trying to create a function to remove dirty words from user input text and want to replace those dirty words with four ****. In my scenario , i have list of dirty words where i would iterate the input user text and want to replace. Say for example.,

Problem: It works fine to replace some word like " bush" however fails in the below function doesn't replace "$hit" and "@ss".

Flash Card Program - Type All The Words On A Text File And Have The Program Randomly Pull One Of Them
Feb 15, 2009Anyway, I'm a teacher and am writing a program that simply shows kids a word on a flashcard. There are 2 buttons, 1 to read the word and 1 to go to a new work. There are going to be 300 words. Really I'm just testing it right here. What I want to know is should I be inputting all the words right into the code like I did with "hi" and "not 1" (Don't ask. those are just the 2 random words I picked to test this out with). OR is there a better way (maybe somehow to type all the words on a text file and have the program randomly pull one of them (I don't know how to do this).

Send Words Into Another Program
Jun 13, 2012so I want to build an application that will send words to another program. The use is that I have call of duty world at war, and I want to be able to send the game the text "`sf_usenoammo1" which is a cheat code for unlimited ammo. I searched around and was told to look into the "send keys" which looks promising but I still don't know how to use them, any ideas on how to send the info and select the focus to the open program would be awesome.

Now as you can see these are the codes you may have seen in many forums
Now want i want .Net to do is filter the the content in a textbox

And the Extra "[quote]" from the end line
As you can see in the example the content has two "Quotes" so i jest want to remove only one from the first line and last line of the content
And note "[quote=randombla13]" the length after the = is Unknown it maybe of 6 characters or less or more

My latest command i want to implement, is being able to define words, and have it send me a txt back with the definition. Now I know how to send texts, and all of that stuff, but I have found it hard to find anything on defining words. At first, i tried to read websites, and simple redirect a webpage to google definitions, but that led me nowhere.

As you can see by the picture above, I have created a simple feature in my application to pronounce letters from a word to assist users to learn the welsh alphabet. What I would really like to do is make the program pronounce full words. I already know how to make use of the system.speech reference in vb, here is a quick sample of code:

If the strings is not 20 characters long I get an error. I wanted to know how can I get the program to start back over and let me enter another 2 more words if the string is not 20 characters long. At the moment after I get the string is not 20 characters long error it continues to read the rest of the program but I want it to stop after an error and let me start over from the beginning.

Dec 5, 2009I need to create a small program that runs in the taskbar to monitor browser urls for particular words.We are using it at work to catch people going to certain banned websites in the work place.Right now it works if i hand code each banned site into the code directly and run with a timer:[code]This works perfectly. Problem now is the Admins want direct access to add/remove different sites to the list.There is no way I am giving them access directly to my code (a bad day comes to mind).So I am attaching a small database with a small table to the server and allowing them to add URLS there. I am stuck in how to use this data though.I have tried pulling up the database column into a listbox but can not configure the code to check each line in listbox to compare to each browser window.
I also tried listed the items in a one column datagrid and try to loop through each row to compare each window.I need each browser window to be compared to a list of items and trigger events if a match is found.If your wondering why I am building this, our IS security people are all or nothing. Either no Net or Full Access.Also our people are a bit to smart to be tracked through history or simple blocking methods.

3 Comboboxes, Donot Want Same Data Repeated?
Oct 30, 2009I've run into a bit of a roadblock trying to figure out how to programmatically not allow the same data in multiple comboboxes. I'm usnig VS2008 and I have 3 comboboxes on a form, all with the same data, say "apple", "orange", and "red". The comboboxes are nothing more than a user definable sorting method on which gets calculated first. When I use the .SelectedItemChanged event on any of these, I'll obviously be duplicating. Any idea on how I can program to automatically switch the combobox that is duplicated to the value that is missing? I don't want to hard code it as further down the road I will have up to 7 comboboxes. Below is what I started with coding. Not sure if it is the best way to go about it, but it works on 4 of the 6 combinations.

C# - Find Values Where A Word Is Repeated
Jun 30, 2011Is there a way in LINQ to Entities (SQL) to identify all records where a specified word is repeated at least/less than a specified number of times?
I can do this in memory, looking for at least 3 instances of the word "word" using:
Where(Function(x) x.Description.Split("word").Count > 3)
However the Split() function cannot translate to a SQL equivalent, and so this can only be executed in-memory, which is excruciatingly slow by the time any number of records are involved.
The SQL to do this would be something like
WHERE Description LIKE '%word%word%word%'
And that's as far as I get - I can't work out how to get that SQL generated by LINQ to Entities. I tried the ugly hacky .Where(Function(x) x.Description.Contains("word%word%word") on the off chance, but I'm almost relieved that it doesn't work!

Oct 30, 2009I'm trying to create a form with a lot of repeated components. I'm making a touch screen control system with a GUI in VB.net. I would like to make it so when a textbox is pressed a form pops up (form1.show()?). This form is basically a number pad. The user can press buttons (0-9) to get the desired integer to appear in a text box in the popup form. When the user presses an "Enter" button, the popup form returns the integer value that was entered to the initial textbox pressed.
