How can I specify in my string that I want to replace occurrences of ALL characters and replace them with a specified character? Something like this:
'assuming currentWord is a string that contains any word
_myWord = CurrentWord.Replace("a-z,A-Z", "*")
I have a text file, the file is sent to me, but this file has a particularity, because between characters get special characters, as if the file was a binary file.I put a screenshot. I need to pick up and replace these characters by the character "-", those chracters are at position 13 to 18 on all lines. And sometimes there is a "\n" character that makes it split the line, and this should not happen.
View 2 RepliesI have a tab delimited file with textqualifiers ( " " ). Some fields have multiple strings inside the qualified text
"
text
"
I would like to remove those newlines. How can I do that?
I have a multi line text box that accepts Enter and tab as input, but this data needs to be saved without these characters. When the user loads this data, the text should be displayed as it was originally entered.In PHP, there is a function to replace line breaks and tab characters with and , and with \. I need a similar function here.

I get some french characters in a string etc.Is there a simple way to replace them with English equivalent with a function or a regex or do i need to do the obvious(parse each character and when acute found replace with the english one)?
View 1 RepliesI've used regular expressions in the past. I have an app that parses a .csv file and replaces certain characters (commas). Here's an example..
item1, item2, item3, fruits are apples, oranges, grapes. Squash is a vegetable, not a fruit.
What my app does is search each line between character1 and character18 and replace all "," with "~". How this is done through regular expressions?
To search a pattern containing parenthesis, they must be escaped using backslashes. So to search for (Streetname) you must use (Streetname). If you don't use , whatever is between () will be retained and available for reference through the variables $1, $2 etc... Exemple, in the sentence "It's worth noting that (StreetName) can be anything...(Post), (TreeStump)", $1=StreetName, $2=Post, $3=TreeStump

I am using a software that grasp information from web-sites. But I want to something on those information. For doing that, it allows me make a VB script. Actually I have never studied any Vb code. But i found a solution for my project. The data from that website is for exmp. "1.02.30" I want to change first dot into semi colon and the second dot into comma, namely "1:20,30". View 3 RepliesI'm trying to replace text in a richtextbox. I have used this code
RTB2.Text = TextToSearch
RTB2.SelectAll()
RTB2.Text = RTB2.Text.Replace("f", ".")
[Code].....
It is successfully removing 2, f and s..but it won't remove all the blank spaces. I am wanting my string to remove all the spaces...example "22f 33s 99y" would become 22.3399 instead of 22.33 99

View 3 RepliesHow do I replace the second value in a richtextbox. The richtextbox is updated in 1Hz, with 2 colums of numbers:
ex.
0 3
1 5
2 13
3 33
How do I replace the second column, with values from an other textbox?
This is my first post at the forums, if I did something wrong making this topic Okey so here is the deal. The program task is to take 50 codes including letters and numbers. Take them and insert them into a webpage(webbrowser1) witch is designed to deal with these codes(3 fields). To check if the codes is valid etc.
Here is what I got :
WebBrowser1.document.GetElementById("Website textbox ID here").SetAttribute("value", TextBox1.Text)
WebBrowser1.document.GetElementById("Website textbox ID here").SetAttribute("value", TextBox2.Text) '
WebBrowser1.document.GetElementById("Website textbox ID here").SetAttribute("value", TextBox3.Text) '
What this does it takes textbox1.text input(first part of code) and inserts in the first field at the website.The to others to exactly the same.But instead of having 3 diffrent texboxes I want it like in this pic.
lswScriptreader =
New System.IO.StreamReader("test.txt", System.Text.Encoding.Default)
lswScriptwriter = File.AppendText("test1.txt")[code]....
Hex(D1) is my column Terminator and need to replace it with ",".
Using VB or C#, I am getting a string of variable length from the database. This information is sensitive information that only certain users will be able to see.I have two cases that will use the same logic (I think).scenario 1: replace all characters with xscenario 2: replace all characters with x except the last 4 characters (assume length > 4 - this check is being done).I thought that this would be easiest using Regex.Replace(input, pattern, replacestring). As opposed to a lot of string handling with substrings and forcing a length of 'x's.
View 2 RepliesUsing VB.Net I'd like to be able to replace a range of characters in a string in a single line of code.
i.e. something like
Dim charsToReplace as string = "acegi"
Dim stringToBeReplaced as string = "abcdefghijklmnop"
charsToReplace.ToArray().ForEach(Function (c) stringTobeReplaced =

I am trying to do this but it doesn't work:
VB
Dim str As String = "07" & GetBetween("Stephen 0761234567", "07", vbNewLine)Dim op As String = "lol" TextBox1.Text.Replace(str, op)
GetBetween is just a function to match something between something else. That works fine, the string (str) sets as 0761234567 just like I want but when i try to replace the text it doesn't work.
I want to replace a regular link with a hyperlink in my RichTextBox, all of the information is given to me via a outside library (LinkEntity). But I don't know how to actually go about replacing the text.
I have this, but it does not work right, sometimes it throws a value cannot be null exception, and sometimes it just replaces the wrong part of the link.
