I have a combobox with a dropdownstyle of dropdownlist (style 2). When a user finishes making entries and clears the form, I want the display value of this to return to null. With an unrestricted combobox, I could just set .text="" and be good to go; that doesn't work with the ones that are restricted.
Is it possible to have a Radio button list, like we have a checked List box?Actually I want to load all the options from database to the list but do not want user to allow to check more than one item.
Also how to read it (say item 4 of the list) I want to store its value in the variable.
I have a combobox called 'cptype' with 2 items and a default item 'select'. I also have a button called 'populate'. How do I get the program to randomly select one of the 2 items.
I also have a button called 'reset'. How do I get the combobox to reset and show 'select' when I click on the button 'Reset'.
When my program is first run it loads the comboboxfineMe.Subj_heating_txt.DataBindings.Add("SelectedIndex", Me.BindingSource7,Form10.heating_txt.Text)if the user opens a different file (at run time) and then goes back to the orginal file it wont load the combobox properly of the selection is 0works fine if its is 1 or more
I am creating a Windows Application in VB.Net 2.0. The application is an FTP transfer application, where I need to display 2 panes. On the first pane, I need to display the client folder structure and on the other pane, I need to display the remote FTP server. Most of the functionality is complete, but I am stuck on 2 places.
1. I need to display a combo box on top, similar to the one we have for Windows Explorer Address bar (where we can see My Computer, Desktop, Network Places, Drives, etc.). I have searched a lot but could not find something matching my requirement other than a few 3rd party controls which I need to purchase (I am looking for something open-source).
2. I am using ListView Control to display the files list. I need to show icons for "My Computer", Network Places and desktop on the List View, which I am not able to do. Is there any way I can display these Icons and make them work exactly the way Windows Explorer does?
at the moment i can change the datagridview combobox cell style using the cellvaluechanged event handler using the following code: Private Sub DataGridView1_CellValueChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellEventArgs) Handles DataGridView1.CellValueChanged If e.RowIndex <> Column1.Index Then
I've got a list view that opens items inside a folder and displays them. I want to know if there is a way to have the list view display the icons aswell, maybe using shell32 or an imagelist. Here's the
I have two combobox on which will display company and department names. There is a"SelectedIndexChanged" event for company combobox. I don not want that is triggered when value of combobox are empty or null. I tried CompanyCombobox.seletedValue is not null and other ways, but they were not working. How do I detect there is empty or null value on combobox?
I am new to vb.net and I am using visual studio 2010. I have two comboboxes on a form, each combobox is set to DropDownList so that a list of items can show in the combobox, but no text is allowed to be entered.
For combobox A, if user chooses item 1, the list of combobox B should be updated accordingly. I think this is quite common on a lot of applications. But I do not know to implement it. I even do not know the keyword to search for the relevant property or event handler.
the combox is bound database table, but it is not displaying the contents of table in database, instead it is displaying corresponding null values(blank).it is showing just "select" and the blank spaces corresponding to the number of items in database
here is my
Function combobfill() As DataSet addconnection.Open() Dim selectstring As String = "select materialsname from materialtype_table"
I'm making a combobox on a form. I want the combobox to have a list of choices from a table in a db. The two columns are a String and a Date. I want the date column to only show the year. I'm hoping I have the code right as it is above, but I'm not positive I've done the whole date thing right.
I'm using vb.net and sql server 2000 for developing my application....The problem i'm having is the Null Reference Exception on the Following line of code:
Dim cmd5 As New SqlCommand("select crtns_removed, pieces_removed, scheme from Outgoing_Invoice where invoice_no = '" & Me.ComboBox5.SelectedItem.ToString.Trim & "' And category = '" & Me.ComboBox1.SelectedItem.ToString.Trim & "' and item_name = '" &
Ok, so I am building my own program to control a video player I have through telnet, I have everything else working except one thing.I have a reset button to reset the player, when I press it, it sends the string "Reset" and the unit resets without a problem. But when I add a code to close the winsock connection upon reset, it doesn't send the string to the unit. I am sure what is happening is the winsock is getting closed at the exact same time it is trying to send the string and so it fails to send, how do I make it close winsock AFTER the string has been sent? [code]
how i can change the native scrollbar style in my application to my custom style. I can adopt a custom scrollbar to attain this purpose but this will not serve my purpose because i want this attribute in entire application. Like it the text in textbox gets longer than its bounds than the scrollbar appers are my custom bar not the formal ones
I set the cell style progromatically on a condition.. but when that condition is no longer met I want to go back to the grids.cell original (default) style property
if x=y then row.Cells(column.Name.ToString).Style.ApplyStyle(mystyle) else
I am trying to call an external C++ function using VB.NET (answers in C# are fine, I can convert back) which returns a list of device names. This comes in the form of a pointer to a null-terminated array of null-terminated char arrays (correct me if I've misunderstood what I'm dealing with) with a function signature:
long GetNames(char*** names)
Most of the answers to similar questions I've found have involved something more like:
long GetNames(char** names, int length)
It appears from what I've read that I need to give it an IntPtr but I'm uncertain as to how this should be initialized, and in my case I don't know the length of the array. At the moment, in the VB module, I have:
<DllImport("MyExternal.dll", CallingConvention:=CallingConvention.Cdecl)> _ Function GetNames(ByRef names as IntPtr) As UInteger End Function
I've tried calling the function by passing an IntPtr initialized as IntPtr.Zero or using Marshall.AllocHGlobal, but I always get an AccessViolationException.
Any ideas on how I should be calling this function and how I get the return value into a managed string array would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: I've found a sample function call in native C as follows:
I load a list from a database like the example below. The class has more properties that the database table holds so when I load the list from the DB, there are Null values for certain properties of each item in the list. When I try List = List.Distinct.ToList, it never works (when null values are present).
I'm trying to search a generic list of 'User' business objects which has a property called 'Username': If (From u In colUsers Select u.Username Where Username.Equals(strUsername)).Count > 0 ThenI keep getting:Delegate to an instance method cannot have null 'this'.
The code below is used to check if the application setting, an arraylist is populated or not via the count method.
When running the program fails with error "NullReferenceException was unhandled" as initially the setting (arraylist) will contain no values. In similar circumstances I would declare a new instance of the object or set value to string.empty or check if DBNull.
I know application settings have a save method but to reference/load them one is not needed.I also left the value field in the projects -> settings to be empty.[code]...
I am trying to make a style that only gets applied if the parent element of the element that the style refers to, has another specific style. Kind of like in CSS where you can do ".class1 .class2" to specify that the "class2" theme only applies if it is within an element with the class "class1". I do not wish to use any form of external DLLs or libraries for this task. I want to know if it's possible to implement on my own.
I've tried using MultiTriggers with no luck. I have a style that applies to all TextBlocks. I want the textblock to do the following: If the font-size of the textblock is 11 and the parent element's style is "PinnedSuggestion", set the foreground color to "#FF505050". If the font-size of the textblock is 11 and the parent element's style is "Suggestion", set the foreground color to "#FFCCCCCC". The conditions that I have tried to write to make this work, are as follows (the font-size condition is true, but the other one is not). The conditions are inside a style that applies to all textblocks in general.
