Resizing And Smoothing Images In .NET?
Jan 19, 2010
I am trying to resize images in batch using the below VB.NET code. The images are fairly large and when they are resized the images do not look very smooth. I have looked at Drawing2D.SmoothingMode.AntiAlias but cannot get that code to work.
Imports System
Imports System.Data
Imports System.Math

I looking for right code to proportional resizing images in different formats in this peace of code. I would like when this will go through folder to folder.
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click
For Each File As String In Form1.rt.Items
Dim foundFileInfo As New System.IO.FileInfo(File)

I'm using a web cam that takes 320 X 240 pictures. This sort of gives the picture a "landscape" look to them, and I need to re-size the pictures to a 169 X 225 "portrait" picture. Its for a badge program. Anyway, when I re-size the pictures, they get all scrunched up because of the difference in aspect ratio. Is there a way to re-size the image and the aspect ratio at the same time? Would this be considered cropping or resizing?

I've got a data-bound data grid view and one of the fields is an image. How do I scale down the image to a reasonable thumbnail size (say, 100px wide) and adjust the height and width of that cell so that it fits the image?

I have a large set of latitude and longitude coordinates from a GPS which, when plotted, creates a 'jerky' line over time. I would like to 'smooth' this line into another set of coordinates which I can then plot to make the track more 'smooth'.
I may need to add more intermediate coordinates to do this. I just wondered if there are any code snippets out there or even MS Excel functions

The idea is to scan a folder of images and then let the user navigate back and forth through the images using a couple of buttons. The problem is, I can only get it to return a single image, and not the whole lot. It's looks to me as though the images are getting assigned to the same index in the array. [code]

The app i am working on is for creating theme for the iPod touch... It has to deal with LOTS of images (100's potentially) There will be the set of default images, and then the user created replacement images. I started loading all the defaults into a resx file... thinking then I could just pull them out. now that I started setting the default, this sucks! lol the app will do this, on load it will set all the images (variables) to the resx images then when a theme is loaded, it will replace the default with the user image (if the user img exists) otherwise, the default stays. Then the "screen" is drawn to show the user. so, here is just the images to build the wallpaper, dock, and status bar...

I was thinking to make an app to save images [or download images] to local hard disk. But to keep it easy, I want this app to create a small picturebox on form to show the thumbnail of downloaded image. Lets say a 5 pictureboxes has to be added with the thumbnails to show the recent downloads. A user can save the location where he wants to save the files on hard disk. A listbox or a dropdown menu will help in categorizing the images, like image1 in friends section, image2 in family section, image3 in others, etc... When the program restarts all the latest 5 thumbnails has to be loaded in pictureboxes and the directory that was chosen. Finally, a button that shows the downloaded images into original image file size one by one or a slide show. Is it possible to make such program?

I have placed several PictureBox Images of different colored dots(which represent lights) on an image of a Christmas Tree. I can make the lights randomly flash using a randomGenerator and a Select case statement. However, the code is very long. There are 67 lights on this tree and the code is 71 pages long. There has to be an easier way to do this. So far I have tried the following with two images of lights just to see if it would work and it does not work:
Dim picLight(2) As
Boolean
For intX

I'm creating a form which is basically an image in a picture box that I use the graphics object to do drawstring's and drawimage's upon.I keep track of where I'm drawing these things so that I can click on them later and do various things (launch external apps - whatever). Is using a picturebox and the graphics object the best way to approach this.

So, my question is, how do I programmatically resize a Form beyond the boundries of the screen? If I try to simply set the Width property for example, it will only extend the width of the Form to the edge of the screen and not beyond that (even the width that I specified extends the Form beyond the screen's edge).

Is there a way to be able to resize a form from somewhere other then the lower left? Normal the form is 1080x1024 but i have a few people with laptops that are smaller and there are scroll bars, but it opens too big for the screen and the resizing can only be done in the lower right. Is there a way to change that without having to adjust my form layout?

Usually I am a web developer so this is probably a very novice question. I recently made an app in VB2008, but I developed it in a huge reso (1920x1200). The person that will be using it still uses 800x600 reso. Is there any simple way I can resize the entire interface to fit any resolution? I didn't really think about it at all while I was making the program.

How to make my forms resize automatically. here's the situation. I have my intro screen, which a user may want to maximise. Once this is maximised, the whole program should stay maximised. Again, if the user chooses to restore the window to its default size, the whole program should remain in that default size. However, once the user clicks the button "Press here to start" on the intro screen, the form automatically reverts to its original size if it was maximised. I also need to be able to stretch the contents in the correct ratios to fit the new screen size.

I have a listbox and a panel. In my forms resize event, my listbox is always form1.width * 0.5 and then the panel is also, but it doesnt work very well. They overlap at a certain point but in theory, they never should. Is there something wrong with my logic?

Lets say I want to create an array with 20 elements all set to a default value (let's say, 0)
But later, during runtime, I might want to resize the array. I might make it larger, to support 30 elements. The 10 new elements will have the default value of 0.
Or I might want to make my array smaller, to just 5. So I delete the complete the existence of the last 15 elements of the array.
