I would like to cast a double to an integer, but rather than keep the numerical value the same I want to keep the bit pattern the same (this is for a compression algorithm), is this already possible in VB.net, or would I need to try and come up with my own method for doing this?

So, yes, I've tried with these three formats, and the problem remains the same:I have a string, "s"For Each s As String In stringarray and this array is recieving data from a streamreader that is reading a csv file. The data I'm having dificulty reading are these very specific numbers(yes, only these numbers, because phone numbers get home safe and sound).The numbers I'm talking about are usually decimal.ValueList.Add(Convert.ToDecimal(s))
Now, when I convert them like that, they always bring a "D" alongside with them. I've personally checked the string multiple times, and it just has a "1", and somehow, my list recieves "1D" as a number, same thing happens with decimal numbers(0.29D for example). I've tried with Doubles and Integers, the result is the same.

I'm trying to get my chart (y values) updated on the run, they need to be updated by an integer.
Dim a As Integer
Dim b As Integer
'some button.click code, contains a += 1 and b += 1
Chart1.Series("Series1").Points(0).YValues = a
Chart1.Series("Series1").Points(1).YValues = b
But it says Value of type 'Integer' cannot be converted to '1-dimensional array of Double'.
so, what do I have to do to fix this?

I'm trying to write a (WPF) program with Option Strict on, but I have a problem.
I have a Canvas with a background image, and I want to use the coordinates of where the canvas was clicked to determine what should happen next. (Something like this)
Dim p As Point = e.GetPosition(DirectCast(sender, Canvas))
Dim imgColorMap As System.Drawing.Bitmap = My.Resources.ColorMap
Dim c As System.Drawing.Color = imgColorMap.GetPixel(p.X, p.Y)
This gives me the error: "Option Strict disallows implicit conversion of 'Double' to 'Integer'" for p.X and p.Y I have tried several things, like Math.Round but strangely enough that also returns a double.
How do I cast/round these Double values to Integer, so I can use them in my GetPixel method?

I have a LINQ2Entity problem, I want to get the value, string, from a database, so I select FProducts.Serial_number, and to end the query, I do .ToDictionary. The problem is, it tells me that it doesn't have sufficient parameters, to convert ToDictionary. So I need something like select FProducts.Serial_number, Nothing). ToDictionary. Also FProducts.Serial_number, 0).ToDictionary doesn't work.
Sub GetStatistics(ByVal ProductNumbers As List(Of String), ByRef Passed As Integer, ByRef FailedProducts As List(Of String))
Passed = 0
FailedProducts = Nothing

I'm quite a newbie in VB.NET (and VB on the whole). So my question could sound rather odd, but still. I've stumbled upon an issue with the CInt and converting a double to an integer.
The issue is the following: CInt(10.5) would be 10
CInt(10.51) would be 11, but I expected 10... (Got used to C# style conversion: (int)10.51 would be 10)
As pointed out here Integer.Parse VS. CInt the result is just rounded in some fashion. Nowever, all I need is to get only integer part and throw away the fractional one. How can I achieve such type of conversion in VB.NET? After a short research I assume that I can use Fix() funciton to do the trick, but is it the best choice ever?

How do I correct the error Option Strict On disallows implicit conversions from 'Double' to 'Integer'. ?
The two lines below that divide by 2 are causing the error.
Private Function StringToByteArray(ByVal hex As String) As Byte()
Dim NumberChars As Int16 = CShort(hex.Length)
Dim bytes As Byte()
Dim i As Integer = 0
bytes = New Byte(NumberChars / 2) {}

I've been just making random programs trying to get the hang of the new language this time I was making a leap frog game where it switches back and forth beetween frogs every time a button is pressed. It also checks if the frog can land in the text box above the button pressed, if there is another frog there a message box will pop up saying sorry space is filled other wise the frog should land there.
[code]...
The error message says "Conversion from string "frog1" to type 'Double' is not valid." I understand what a double is but I've tried And If and that causes a bunch of errors.My Question is whats wrong with this cod and how can I make a double if statement???PS I did try to make an array to shorten this but thats in a different fourm will post URL later

I make a query in coding. But I got conversion error.My query is below
Dim strSelect As String = ""
strSelect = "SELECT " & _
"Description As [Desc], " & _
[code].....
Exception error is like
Conversion from string "iif(CurCons = 0, " to type 'Double' is not valid
Actually, in my report, i wanna show if it's zero then '-'. If i set it in this string.I got another error like below The provider could not determine the Decimal value. For example, the row was just created, the default for the Decimal column was not available, and the consumer had not yet set a new Decimal value.
From da.Fill
Dim cmd As New OleDbCommand(strDynamic, m_DBConn)
Dim da As New OleDbDataAdapter(cmd)

If Double.Parse(list_numbers.Item(i), possibledouble)
list_numbers is a list of strings
list_numbers.Item(i) = "0.000"
possibledouble is a double
debugger returns "input string was not in a correct format"
i thought that the double parse would convert the string into a double format of "0.0" but it gives me an error.

Is there an efficient method in VB to check if a string can be converted to a double?I'm currently doing this by trying to convert the string to a double and then seeing if it throws an exception. But this seems to be slowing down my application.
Try

I was trying to convert from Double to String and everything working fine. But when I tried some bigger number with fractions in it. I got the number but rounded. I tried something like that:
Dim dd As Double = 1235212435.3453636
Dim str As String = dd
MsgBox(str)
But what I got is 1235212435.34536 instead of 1235212435.3453636

As I compare the DSO with the DSO para, it seems doesn't compare both data at all. I have been converting the DSO as double first between comparing it as if i compare with string it doesn't work.
Dim dso1 As Label = CType(e.Item.FindControl("dso1"), Label)
If Not IsNothing(dso1) Then
dso1.Text = e.Item.DataItem("DSO").ToString
