Integer To '1-demensional Array Of Double'?

Feb 28, 2012

I'm trying to get my chart (y values) updated on the run, they need to be updated by an integer.

Dim a As Integer
Dim b As Integer

'some button.click code, contains a += 1 and b += 1

Chart1.Series("Series1").Points(0).YValues = a
Chart1.Series("Series1").Points(1).YValues = b
But it says Value of type 'Integer' cannot be converted to '1-dimensional array of Double'.

so, what do I have to do to fix this?

BitArray.Copyto A 1-demensional Array?

Aug 6, 2009

I have created a BitArray which is 11 bits long.I want to convert the BitArray so I can save the bits to a SQL server database field as a binary [varbinary(50)] so I can retrieve it at a later date and convert it back to a BitArray.Using examples on MSDN I have cobbled together the code I think I need.

Dim myBits As New BitArray(11)

I have populated the bitarray with 11111111111 for the purpose of testing ' Creates and initializes the one-dimensional target Array of type integer.

Dim myByteArray As Array = Array.CreateInstance(GetType(Byte), 11)

Note: from the above MSDN description this is an array of type integer - is this correct? I think it is a type 'byte' ?

' Copies the entire source BitArray to the target BitArray, starting at index 0.

myBits.CopyTo(myByteArray, 0)

I wanted to print the contents of myByteArray to a console to see what was going on. MSDN provided these print methods

Public Overloads Shared Sub PrintValues(ByVal myArr() As Array)
Dim i As Object

For Each i In myArr
Console.Write(ControlChars.Tab +
"{0}", i)[code].....

trouble is, I am getting the following error which suggest I havent succesfully created the byte array:

Error 2 Overload resolution failed because no accessible 'PrintValues' can be called without a narrowing conversion:
'Public Shared Overloads Sub PrintValues(myArr() As Integer)': Argument matching parameter 'myArr' narrows from 'System.Array' to '1-dimensional array of Integer'.[code].....

Error After Implicit Conversion Of 1 Dimensional Array Of Integer To IEnumerable Of Integer() ) ?

Apr 25, 2011

I'm trying to create a linked list of an array of integers. Why is the following implicit conversion required?

When I run the code that contains that conversion, I get the following error.

As a real-time data acquisition user control data (a packet of an array of bytes) arrives every second, is converted into an integer array and inserted into a linked list.

The most recently arrived data is painted as coordinates on a grid at the right of a PictureBox using Graphics.DrawLine (pen,X1,Y1,X2,Y2).

The oldest data (arriving 120 seconds ago) will be drawn at the leftmost portion of the Picturebox.

Why a linked list rather than a list? To display 120 views of time sequence data, the draw routine the most recently inserted node to a node that points to Nothing. How do I limit the length of the linked list to 120 nodes and always ensure that the last node points to Nothing?

Do While Not item Is Nothing
item = item.NextItem

Cast A Double To An Integer?

Aug 30, 2010

I would like to cast a double to an integer, but rather than keep the numerical value the same I want to keep the bit pattern the same (this is for a compression algorithm), is this already possible in VB.net, or would I need to try and come up with my own method for doing this?

Conversion To Integer, Decimal, Double

Jun 9, 2011

So, yes, I've tried with these three formats, and the problem remains the same:I have a string, "s"For Each s As String In stringarray and this array is recieving data from a streamreader that is reading a csv file. The data I'm having dificulty reading are these very specific numbers(yes, only these numbers, because phone numbers get home safe and sound). The numbers I'm talking about are usually decimal.ValueList.Add(Convert.ToDecimal(s))

Now, when I convert them like that, they always bring a "D" alongside with them. I've personally checked the string multiple times, and it just has a "1", and somehow, my list recieves "1D" as a number, same thing happens with decimal numbers(0.29D for example). I've tried with Doubles and Integers, the result is the same.

[2008] Casting Double To Integer?

Feb 5, 2009

I'm trying to write a (WPF) program with Option Strict on, but I have a problem.
I have a Canvas with a background image, and I want to use the coordinates of where the canvas was clicked to determine what should happen next. (Something like this)

Dim p As Point = e.GetPosition(DirectCast(sender, Canvas))
Dim imgColorMap As System.Drawing.Bitmap = My.Resources.ColorMap
Dim c As System.Drawing.Color = imgColorMap.GetPixel(p.X, p.Y)

This gives me the error: "Option Strict disallows implicit conversion of 'Double' to 'Integer'" for p.X and p.Y I have tried several things, like Math.Round but strangely enough that also returns a double.

How do I cast/round these Double values to Integer, so I can use them in my GetPixel method?

.net - Double To Integer Conversion Concerning CInt And Rounding?

Oct 7, 2011

I'm quite a newbie in VB.NET (and VB on the whole). So my question could sound rather odd, but still. I've stumbled upon an issue with the CInt and converting a double to an integer.

The issue is the following: CInt(10.5) would be 10

CInt(10.51) would be 11, but I expected 10... (Got used to C# style conversion: (int)10.51 would be 10)

As pointed out here Integer.Parse VS. CInt the result is just rounded in some fashion. Nowever, all I need is to get only integer part and throw away the fractional one. How can I achieve such type of conversion in VB.NET? After a short research I assume that I can use Fix() funciton to do the trick, but is it the best choice ever?

Passing An Array Of Integer To An Array Of Object In A Function

Mar 4, 2012

I am creating a dll with all the functions and subroutines that I use all the time and I decided to create a function that I can pass different types of array to so the function obviously (or not) would have an array of type object. Now I no you can pass any type into an object type but when I pass an integer array into an object array I get an error.

value of type '1-dimensional array of integer' cannot be converted to '1-dimensional array of object' because 'integer' is not a reference type.

Shared Function CompareArray(ByVal FirstArray() As Object, ByVal SecondArray() As Object, Optional ByRef ErrorMessage As String = "") As Boolean
Dim IntArrayOne() As Integer = {1,2,3,4,5} Dim IntArrayTwo() As Integer = {1,2,3,5,6} Dim IsSame As Boolean = False IsSame = CompareArray(IntArrayOne(), IntArrayTwo())

Converting System.array To Double() Array?

Jun 12, 2012

just hoping that someone may be able to assist me to convert system.array to double() array.

Declarations are as follows:

Private f_Data As System.Array

Private f_Measures() As Double

Private f_NumberOfObservations As Integer

I then 'fill' f_Data from a range in an Excel worksheet as follows:

f_Data = wsXLSData.Range(wsXLSData.Cells(1,1), wsXLSData.Cells(8, 1)).Value

This seems to work OK. Upon checking f_Data is indeed filled with 8 double type numbers.

I then try to convert this system.array to a double array as follows:

For i As Integer = 0 To f_NumberOfObservations - 1

f_Measures(i) = f_Data(i + 1, 1).value
Next
I then get an error pointing to the line ' f_Measures(i) = f_Data(i + 1, 1).value' of type MissingMemberException was unhandled by user code'
