Lets say I have a line like this:dblvalue = round((.meter/100)*100/360)If I want to retrieve the value of .meter which is in a .txt file say line no.4.
I am trying to work with taking in and parsing CSV files. Right now I have it taking in and producing something like this:
The program loads the csv and copies the data into an array as such:
ReDim strarray(num_rows, num_cols) For x = 0 To num_rows strline = strlines(x).Split(",")
[Code]....
etc. I guess my main problem is trying to perform calculations to all values in a specific column. To start I am just trying to figure out how to isolate the columns and found that by using MsgBox(strarray(x, num_cols)) it will msgbox everything in the second column twice. I just want to try and understand how I can perform a basic calculation like multiply every value in the first column by 2 and every value in the second column one by 3.
I am making a simple application that will be able to store competition data into a text file that I have given a custom extension to on saving. Here is an example of the format that i have saved the data in.
When i open the file, i want to redisplay the data in separate text boxes. Later on in the project i want to be able to search within the file for headings for example;
if "[Heat1]" is present then get all text between [Heat1] and [Heat1]
i am currently able to use the streamreader and open file dialog to retrieve the entire string of text fromthe however i am not sure how to go about getting the text between the headings I have used.
I have a rather simple task, retrieving an image file from a virtual folder outside of my ASP.Net web Application (The Virtual Folder is in the root of the website) and then displaying it in an image control. I am able to to access a Virtual Folder that is within the web site. Here is my code that
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Dim sourcefile As String = Server.MapPath("~/Common/Images/LAPDPatch.jpg") Image1.ImageUrl = sourcefile End Sub
What am I doing wrong?
Ok, I was able to figure it out: Ok, I was able to get it working, I was using the wrong "slash" character I was using the forward slash instead of the back slash:
Dim sourcefile As String = Server.MapPath("VitualFolderName") & "ImagesLAPDPatch.jpg"
How i can make my project portable.whenever i run my project on another computer it gives an error for wrong path. any code which can choose its path in resourses or debug folder to make a file in project.and whenevre use that file its easily accessable without any error.and file saved in a name series.
I'm using VB.net 2003 Standard Edition, and I'm trying to retrieve the file modified date. I've created a System.IO.FileInfo object, and have collected info from the three methods: CreationTime, LastAccessTime, and LastWriteTime, but they aren't giving me the same data as XP Windows Explorer is.In Explorer, there is a Date Modified field (currently reading 2008 on the file in question), but using the FileInfo methods they return 2007, 2009, 2009.Is there another IO object I can use to get this 'modified' date?
I want to use the image.source property to reference or retrieve .jpg images from the Resource file at runtime so I can dispay them in an image control, but seem to be failing. The images are now in the Resources file. I use vb.net in WPF. I know how to reference them in a folder but this proves to be inconvenient.
I'm trying to retrieve line number 5 - 8 from a text file, but I can't figure out how. I can retrieve a single line and I can retrieve all lines, but I can't figure out how to get those specific ones. I tried using substring but it didn't work.
I have to store a text file in the form of byte array and has to read it back from the database and need to write on text file. What can i Do? I am using sql server 2008 R2 and vb.net
Dim swQuotation As StreamWriter = New System.IO.StreamWriter(QCHome.QCQuotationsFile, True) ' Otherwise, write the data to the file swQuotation.WriteLine(QuoationsCustIDTextBox.Text + ":" + QuotationIDtextbox.Text + ":" + ETC.... ETC...
I want to be able to retreive the Value of QUOTATIONID saved in the file, in another form, but i can't seem to get anywhere with it, and its bugging me.The following code Doesn't work, when it should :
'For Multiple Quotations. Dim Quotationlines() = File.ReadAllLines(QCHome.QCQuotationsFile) For i = 0 To Quotationlines.Count() - 1
I'm working on a project with a large multidimensional array
resrv(200,12,31,33) it keeps track of information on specific dates within a 200 year range.
What I'm looking to do is save the array to a file so that I can load it again when the program is started.
In VB 6 I used to be able to use a simple for next loop into an open file and load it the same way. It doesn't seem to work the same way with Fthe filestream class in VB.net
I'm trying to retrieve line 5 - 8 from a text file, but I can't figure out how. I can retrieve a single line and I can retrieve all lines, but I can't figure out how to get those specific ones. I tried using substring but it didn't work.
I have an application I wrote that replaces Windows Explorer as a shell for Kiosk purposes. The application maintains two configuration files: one that is used and maintained for application purpose (app.config) and another that is stored in another directory so it doesn't get overwritten when the GUI attempts to update from a repository. When the application is ran in a normal environment it works perfectly. However when it is used during start-up or when switching users, the application can't seem to load the information in the other directory.
From the manager class Private Shared rootCP As String Friend Shared Sub loadConfig() Dim dir As New IO.DirectoryInfo(Environment.CurrentDirectory) [Code] .....
Another function later attempts to retrieve the data from the rootCP string but can only access it if the application was started after system start-up.
I'm just new to the forums, so I hope you's don't mind me jumping in and asking a question Currently I am pulling out rows from my Datagridview and sending all rows to a .csv file. I now need to retrieve information from two different datatables and put them into the same .csv file I am using. Below is how I am currently retrieving the first part of my .csv file. The second part will below the rows supplied from the datagrid. Hope somebody could advise me on how i could go about or, or have support links.
I have built a recursive file system crawler that amasses file system data from a file share. I use the FileInfo object to get my metrics, however, I am finding that in especially deep file structs, that the ol' 260 character MAX_PATH MS bug crops up ':8-0:'. This puts me in my angry place, since I do not seem to be able to get around it no matter what kind of programmatic tom-foolery I try.
So far, I have tried:- converting to 8.3 format --> no good path + filename STILL is > 260 (believe it or not) - tried to go with a Straight low-level API approach
What I have found is some pretty Sketchy information regarding VB implementation of the kernel32 api's in this regard (just try & find a createfile port for vb.net, I couldnt)
Anyway, I guess I was hoping that someone else has run into this pain, and knows how to make a surefire way to get a file's information (size, dates esp), regardless of how long and painful the path may in fact be...
I have a DEM file(Digital Elevattion Model File) and I am trying to open the file, where we have Latitude and Longitude values inside the DEM file. And, Now I have opened the file using Filestream and Read the file using BinaryReader. But, I am having a trobule in getting the values of Latitude and Longitude.I am getting Byte values randomly as 1,202,31,271 etc. But, we dont have latitude and longitude values more than 180,and also I am not getting 16 bit UInt values. For example, the values should be like Latitude 20.00416666666667 and Longitude 39.99583333333333.So,read the correct Byte values of the DEM file. The code I have used till now is:
Dim fs As FileStream = New FileStream("C:UsersadminDesktopHeader and DEM fileE020N40.DEM", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read) Dim rd As New BinaryReader(fs) Dim convertDB As UInt16 For i = 0 To rd.BaseStream.Length
compute an exact age of a person using the format date of mm/dd/yy... in vb.net, i was trying to code it but the result was not the exact age of the person.lp me...
I am using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 with VB.NET, and in class we were assigned this project: A procedure should calculate a 2% price increase on all red shirts, but a 1% price increase on all other items. In addition to calculating the price increase, the procedure also should calculate the new price. You can use the variables strItemColr, strItem, decOrigPrice, decIncrease, and decNewPrice. Format the original price, price increase, and new price in the lblOriginal, lblIncrease, and lblNewPrice controls, respectively.
i have an issue with my program. when i create a function and use a calculation in it it returns a wrong answer. if i copy the calculation and put it directly in the btnClick event it works ok. is this normal?
here is the code if you would like to try see what i am doing wrong. Private Sub btnExit_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnExit.Click
i have this problem on how to calculate the amount due in our system in VISUAL BASIC.NET .in returning module, (this is for penalty purposes), if the borrower didn't return the book on time, the system must automatically generate the amount due .one daY is equivalent to 10(ten) pesos.so if the borrower didn't return the book with 2 days. the amount due must be 20.00 pesos.
I have two money fields in a SQL database called TotalClaimed and PartialSettlementAmountRecd. They are declared as Decimals like so:
Public PartialSettlementAmountRecd As Decimal Public TotalClaimed As Decimal
They both output the repsective amounts perfectly. I need to do a calculation on them, by subtracting PartialSettlementAmountRecd from TotalClaimed. I have tried the following, but it just outputs a random number, not the amount I require.
Dim NewSettAmount As Decimal = (ClaimDetail.TotalClaimed) - (ClaimDetail.PartialSettlementAmountRecd) Response.Write("New Settlement Amount: £" & NewSettAmount)
I found this thread in regards to calculating CRC16 on an array.... however, it does not work probably because it was written for VB6 and not .NET. [URL] Does anyone know of a built-in function in .NET to calculate CRC16? If not, is there a way I can adapt the above VB code example to work with Visual Studio 2010?
