Retrieving Records From Access Database Using WCF?

May 18, 2009

I have a problem when trying to retrieve records from my Access database through WCF. In my application the user enters a Customer ID and the function then searches the database and retrieves all records related to that customer. However, it isn't working as it should. The code behind the search button is as follows:

Private Sub SearchButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles SearchButton.Click

[Code]...

this code isn't doing as it should. The DataGridView should display the records relating to a customer but nothing is being returned at all, I'm not even getting any error messages. I've been looking at it so long I must be missing something ,

I'm trying to retrieve record data from an MS-Access database and store it into a variable. i'm using this SQL command to query the database: Dim cmdRead As OleDbCommand = New OleDbCommand("SELECT UserID FROM [User] where Username=?", conn) How do I do it in VB.NET to read data from the UserID column (in the db) and store it into a variable in VB.NET?

What I basically want to do is to retrieve the UserID so that I can then retrieve the Name and Surname of the user from the same table.

Database - MS Access Datasheet View Vs .NET DataGridView?

Feb 19, 2011

I'm trying to migrate (mostly mentally at this point) from MS Access to .NET for database programming. I've found one of the first tests to be fairly painful. I'm trying to recreate MS Access's datasheet view in Visual Studio.Features I use in MS Access Datasheet View that I haven't immediately found in the DataGridView I'm assuming that a DataGridView will be used to edit records as opposed to being used as a search/list only.1) Form Level BeforeUpdate Event - Here I typically run validation code2) Textbox level BeforeUpdate Event - If I'm feeling anal I'll run validation code here.

Read Then Update Rows In An Access 2007 Database?

May 8, 2012

I am working on code in Visual Basic 2010 that will read from an Access 2007 data table. If the row has one of the fields marked as processed then do nothing with it, but it not, then process the data in that record, and update the field as processed, and move on to the next one marked as needing processing, looping through all of them. Later I'll go back and repeat this again.

I am able to read from the database and get all the information from it just fine, but I can't then update the 'processed' field. I'd rather like to avoid having the database integrated with the project as other processes will need to access it when this process (program) is not working on it.

VS 2008 - Delete / Insert Rows And Update Access Database

Jan 5, 2011

I am using this code to Add rows to a SQL database, and it adds the row to the SQL database if column 7 is not null. After it adds the row to the SQL database, it deletes it from the Access Dataset, and updates the Access Database. Sometimes double rows seem to get inserted into the database, so I'm thinking there is an error in my logic somewhere here.

Dim y As Integer = 0

Accessing Specific Rows And Information From The Rows Using VB In An Access DB

Mar 23, 2010

Public Shared Function isMatch(ByVal username As String) As Integer
For i As Integer = 0 To table.length - 1
Dim cellValue As String = table.getRow(i).getCell("Alias")

[Code].....

I have the code listed above as a translation from a Java snippet. The problem i have is that in Java, my table was stored as a dataset and as such, the methods were easily identifiable by "getRow" and getCell" using specific numbers and column names. However in VB the information is stored in an MS Access database (which i already have an open connection to, called: "_SalesPerformance_AnalyticsToolDatabaseDataSet12") and as such i do not know the correct way in which to iterate through each row in the database, checking a specific column against an already specified variable and then returning an integer based upon the value of a seperate column in the same row.
