i have seen that this is a common error but not sure what the common solution is. I need to date stamp the word doc that is being generated from my Excel Macro and i need to save this to a specific shared folder.every time i try to insert CallDate into the saveas i get an error that basicaly means that then / is not supported as a naming character. any sugestions? See Code Below.
I understand how to rename a file in vb.net as I use the coding at the end of my post. However, is its possible to rename a file and if the file exists then to rename it and add +1 to the file name? So if I ran the code. 'Run it first time My.Computer.FileSystem.RenameFile("c: est est.txt", "c: estNewName.txt") 'Run it again but it should add +1 as the file will already exists so it should be "c: estNewName1.txt" My.Computer.FileSystem.RenameFile("c: est est.txt", "c: estNewName.txt")
Decided rather than rename and +1 it would be better to just date stamp it. My.Computer.FileSystem.RenameFile("c: est est.txt", "Test" & Format(Date. Now, "ddMMyy") & ".txt")
Im having a problem passing a date and time stamp from vb to mysql. My code is as follows:ComboBox1.Text.ToUpper() & "', '" & TextBox1.Text & "', '" & Now() & "'"Where the comboBox populates the first field, the textbox populates the second and in the third I get 0000-00-00 00:00:00. I have formatted the field as date and time - which is what I am after
I have a VB6 application which has been running succesfully for years under XP, however under Vista data loss has been observed. It appears that if the app is run 'as administrator' then it connects to the correct database file, however if the app. is not run as administrator then vista creates a copy of the database (no idea where) - hence I end up with 2 versions of the database.
In fact I can delete the database file entirely and the app. still works fine because vista is using it's own copy - the problem is how do I back up this 'vista copy' when I can't find it (search doesn't find it).
In this syntax, i'm trying to put a Date and a location on the same line on a printed form. But I'm getting an error squigly under everything after my " before the in.
Iassume what I'm missing is basic programming, but I can't figure it out for the life of me.
e.Graphics.DrawString("Dates: " & txtDates.Text, " in "
Basically I am looking for a means within a asp.net 2.0 (or higher) application, to identify a time zone and UTC offset for a specific location and date. I want to be able to look up the time zone rules using either city & state, Zip, or LAT & LON I have an event database that tracks location, date and time for the events. Times are recorder relative to the event and the records do not currenlty indicate the timezone for the event or whether or not DST is in effect. Recently, I have encountered a situation where I need to link several events across different time zones. What I am looking to do is:
first, record a master event, say for August 13 2012 at 8:PM in New York, NY 10021
Second I need to record a related event in Houston TX.
When I record the related event I want it to automatically populate the date and time relative to its local time time zone rules. To do this it needs to be able to identify the effective timezone and UTC offset for the master event as well as the linked event so that I can calculate the correct date and time to display on the satelite program. As a future update I would probably capture the time zone /utc offsets with each program so that I don't have to recalculate the master record each time I want to add a related event.
So far I have not seen a way from system.timezone or timezoneinfo to be able to look up a timezone and the effective UTC offset of a given date and location.
I need to calculate the location of intersections between multiple date ranges, and the number of overlapping intersections. Then I need to show which date/time ranges overlap each of those intersecting sections. It is slightly more complicated than that so I'll do my best to explain by providing an example. I am working in VB.Net, but C# examples are acceptable as well as I work in both.
We have several high risk tasks that involve the same system. Below I have three example jobs named HR1/2/3/4 with start and end date/times.
write a VB code that will open Word, create a Word document then, upon exiting Word, automatically have the file name save in a specific folder based on an Excel worksheet cell value? In other-words, if...let's say... if a worksheet cell value is 09-1, can a code be written to save a document as c:/NBI/Docs/09-1.doc ? Or am I going WAY beyond the scope of a VB nubee...?
I am creating an excel report in vb.net using the office interop. When the report is completed I am saving the excel file on the C drive. The users have asked to save file anywhere they want not just the c drive. code to popup an opend file dialog in asp.net?I want the dialog to popup in a saveAs in ASP.NET. I know how to do it in win forms, but I am creating an excel report in asp.net and calling the worksheet objects SaveAs property that excepts a fileName. So right now I just hardcode a file name in there. The users want to choose a file location?
My friend gave me a VB project. We want to generate a excel file with TextBox data. This function works on my friend machine, but not on mine. After prompting saveas dialog, it gives an error message as below once clck save.Invalid index. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8002000B (DISP_E_BADINDEX))
It was written in VS 2010, Win Vista, office 2007. and I am using VS 2010, Win 7, office 2010
Then I tried the program on other machines. Several get the same error as above but it works on win xp.
I have a problem with fileupload-component. I want to upload the file from the client on a fileserver, that is different from the server where the website is running. But I get the ERROR:System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path '\sv27zzzyyyy.bmp' is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.FileStream.Init(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, Int32 rights, Boolean useRights, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES secAttrs, String

I am creating new documents from templates and then saving them as docx files. My understanding is that when I go to my saveas method I should be able to have the wdFormatXMLDocument as one of my fileformat options. However I don't.I have to use the numerical equivalent of 12.I have imported the Word 2007 interop and have all the methods at my fingertips there, but can't seem to find this particular option.
I have created an addin specifically for Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 that will cature any save attempts made by the end-user. The purpose is it analyse where the file is saved to and to take a copy of the saved file for version control.I have created a module level object mobjPPT which contains my PowerPoint application object and have assigned the PresentationBeforeSave event to my sub 'PowerPointSave'. Everything works up until the point it hits the 'Pres.SaveAs' line and throws the following error:
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): Presentation (unknown member) : Failed. at Microsoft.Office.Interop.PowerPoint.PresentationClass.SaveAs(String FileName, PpSaveAsFileType FileFormat, MsoTriState EmbedTrueTypeFonts) at PPTSave.Connect.PowerPointSave(Presentation Pres, Boolean& Cancel)
I have tried calling SaveAs on the mobjPPT object instead but get the same results. Here is the offending item:
Code: Private Sub PowerPointSave(ByVal Pres As Presentation, ByRef Cancel As Boolean) Dim dlgResult As DialogResult = Nothing Dim dlgFilter As Microsoft.Office.Core.FileDialogFilters = Nothing
I have been dabbling in VB before and i played around wiht linq to sql back then but im wondering what i should go with here.I need to have a list of people.. They should all have their own id nr.
The people in the list are supposed to keep a record of values changing over time with a datetime stamp. (In my case its numbers from a test outcome of blood)You have to be able to add people and delete people. All records will be deleted too.A Chart will read information from the records and display changes over time in chart.I was thinking of doing it with linq to sql and i was kinda aiming at Creating datatables with id names from the script
Havent found a way of creating datatables from a script though..I was hoping for a solution like that.. And i was hoping id be able to search databasetable names.
I am having a hard time finding some code to find a fiscal year. I want to be able to retrieve a Time stamp, and then find out what the Fiscal year is. July 1st thru the end of June So July 1,2011 thru Jun 31st, 2012 is all Fiscal Year "2012"
I have a really interesting task I need to code and I'm stuck. The application I'm creating Takes the mute button on my laptop and triggers an even when the mute button is pressed.
The issue is I found when the mute button is pressed, the computer sends the v_key code for volume down in a rapid rate. What I want to do is display the v_key code and a time stamp in a text box:
When I press the mute key, the v_key code and time stamp are displayed for every instance that code is thrown. The same goes for un-mute.I'm having issues with my application not triggering the event when the mute is pressed because the computer is shooting out the v_key code so many times, so fast.
My plan is to create a kind of de-bounce logic- IF the v_key code is detected x amount of times in y timespan then.To do this I need to know how fast and how many times this code is occuring.
Any direction or ideas on how to go about this?
Dr.Bones- " If my application is too hard for a 5th grader to run, I've made too complicated"
My application crashes when trying to save a word document as text. The error at SaveAs is "Type mismatch. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80020005 (DISP_E_TYPEMISMATCH))" I am opening and manipulating a Word 2003 Document (using Word 2007) and then trying to save it as a text file.
Using Excel Automation classes I am seeking to save an Excel file as a delimited text file. The examples given in the MSDN library refer to versions older than Express 2008 with (apparently) different syntax options for FileFormat.Based on the snippet shown, I get a COM exception error (800A03EC). Other variations produce the same error.
Am I improperly applying the Automation features? Imports System.IO Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop
i am using an unbound datagridview so i can dynamiclly add rows. all that is working fine. but the grid is not is the location i have coded.. i am using the defualt form as a base then coding the unbound stuff in.. should i just create a blank class file and do everything? the only problem i am having is the grid must bees in the correct location according to the pixel point that i have given it. Right now it is placing the grid at point (0,0) no matter what point is entered on the line for location. so what am i missing??????
