Saving MailMessage To Disk (or Database)?

I have a system where an email is generated and sent out. I need to create a mechanism to store the email as proof that it was sent.At first I thought I could store the email in my database. Easy until I realised that MailMessage() is not serialised. Did find some links on how to serialise it but it looks enormously complicated and I could not get any of them close to working.
I then came across this article which adds a save method to the class. The code can be found here:[URL]..
Its written in C# so Ive had to convert it VB.Net but I cannot see to fix a single error which is:

I have visual studio .net 2008 installed on a windows XP sp3 machine.
The problem i am having is with trying to save a portion of an image on the hard drive, with a different name ( in other words, i'm cropping an image and wanting to save that part somewhere).
Here is some of the code...
Firstly, this is how i am trying to save a portion of the picture box image...

but i'm getting the same error. And i simply cannot find a way to determine the encoder (or whatever is needed) of each image format type. There was some C++ code on the web with something like "encoder = ImageFormat.Jpg.FindEncoder();" but i couldn't find any equivalent for it in VB.

VB.net seem to place my database file into/userprofile/local settings/apps/2.0/data/random/random/appname/data/ folder.Can I define easier location for my published app. I am also worried that when upgrading this database is ignored or something bad happens?

I have a program for collecting data of people. Now i also have a picture of these people... what is the best thing to do? what is the fastest? the safest?
1. Converting a picture to a bytearray an then insert it into a sql -table (with al ready 5 columns).
2. making an new table on the sql database with just two columns (id-ref, picture-column)
3. or saving a file on to the hard drive? (if nescessary saving the url into the database?)

i am sending an email message from outlook using this method:

my from is "aaa@yahoo.com" (the mail is fiction for the purpose of demonstrating what i am doing)and this method works but I don't want the reciever to see that the mail is from aaa@yahoo.com, I want him to see that its from "Blacknight". In yahoo you can simply write [URL] <Blacknight> and this will work. how do i add a name to the mail in mailmessage?

I'm attempting to send an MHMTL document out as an email and am having issues getting it to do so. What I've done is created a windows service to poll reporting services for a "Web Archive" report (read in as a string or byte array via System.Net.WebClient) that I then want to send out to a set of people via System.Net.Mail.MailMessage.
I'm aware that reporting services has subscriptions built in, but the situation is a little more complex than that and requires a seperate program to poll the report. What I'm looking for is some sort of code sample or something that demonstrates sending MHTML as part of the body of an email using VB.NET (Or C#) ASP.NET 2.0 standard objects. If anyone could point me in the right direction or has a cut and paste that'd be great.

I've been using the System.Net namespace ever since we switched from .net Framework 1.1 to the 3.5 framework, but there's one thing that's been puzzling me since. What's the difference between the Sender and the From properties in the MailMessage class?Are they both the same, and if not is there a reason to use Sender together with From?
For example:
Using m As New System.Net.Mail.MailMessage()
m.Sender = New System.Net.Mail.MailAddress("test@test.com", "Name here")

I have an ASP.Net app that allows a user to write text into a Telerik RadEditor control and then send an email.For some reason I'm sometimes getting strange characters showing up in the email that is generated.se if I use the later, the text would show up just fine. If I pull up the saved record within the ASP.Net apps interface it looks just fine. It also appears just fine when I view the text within the recorded of the MS SQL table it was stored in. Continued--->I have tried to add it to the constructor of my email class with/without mybase but that had no effect.

Using system.net.mailmessage I send emails to three people, myself included, once I run an import on a file. I save the email addresses in my app.config file and then add them to the mailmessage like this:[code]Now I need to BCC two people. What's the best way to accomplish this? should I add another mailaddress or can I add them to a comma seperated list. does .net 2008 use , or ; as delimiters.

I had an interesting bug today when sending plain text emails from our system. We format messages like this: -1st something happened blab bla. -2nd something else happened blab blab blaa bla. Today we had an email that looked like this: -1st something happened blab bla. -2nd something else happened blab blab blaa bla $1000.00 -3rd Something happened. So above, we see that we lost the CrLf but only on the message that didn't have a period and ended in 0. I went through the code and found the CrLf is intack up until we send the email. I was told that my program was not issuing a MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN when sending an email. Anyone know what this means and how I do it? I am sending an email with SmtpClient and I have no problems with other clients.

I have an image stored in sql server. I want to retrieve the image and place it in a MailMessage object, not as an attachment file, but as part of the html body. I found many samples using local image file, but I have not found any using an image from a database.

I had a requirement to gloss up an email generated from bespoke system using 'mailto' to be glossed up. I don't believe I can produce HTML message using mailto so I decided to generate the mail using System.net.Mail.mailMessage. However, as the client wants to add to the email prior to sending it on I need to send it to the client's own email, allow them to edit using their email editor and they would then forward it to the target recipientUnfortunately, the tables on forwarding are reformatted.

I have managed to create a connection to the database and am able to save information to it from my form, the form contains 22 textboxes, a save and another exit button. I have set the form to retrieve data in the form_load. I have used the "UPDATE" SQL command on the save button and it does save the data on all 22 textboxes (all textboxes are linked to their separate columns). But only one record will be needed that is why I did not use the "INSERT" command.
The problem arises when I click the save button, all (19) textboxes are saved but when I retrieve the text (by reloading the form), each of the 20, 21, 22 textboxes (only) the text of the 20th textbox keeps on moving tho the next textbox e.g. 20>21>22>20>21>22 is interchanged amongst themselves.

I'm working on a project which are generating some data from my VB.NET software and I wish to save those data into sql server. But my concerns is the speed of saving and the large amount of data. For every 0.5s, one set of data will be generated and the process will keep running for about 8 hours, so at the end of 8 hours, roughly there will be 60,000 set of data generated.May i know what is the best option/method of saving the data into the sql server in not hanging up my software and also keeping the pace with the speed of 0.5s data being generated?
- Speed of 0.5s. I have to maintained for every 0.5s, one data must be generated. Cannot delay too much.
- I can afford delay in the sql database, meant the data might not be necessary close to real time.

I created a database in access 2007, linked it to my project in visual studio 2008 (vb). When I enter some data using the UI, it does not save it in the database, and it's gone as soon as I run the program again. I dragged the textboxes from the datasource panel, onto the UI..

I'm saving data to a database, data from a listbox and checkboxes.In the listbox, on the form, there are 20 records and then there are 20 corresponding checkboxes.I need to save all 20 records to the database so really I need 20 new rows. What I have managed to get working so far is that it will save the last record only.Here is the code that works:
