1. i added a datagrid at runtime on a form. i want to bind a datasource to the datagrid in a button's click event handler, but the datagrid doesn't seem to be visible anywhere else outside the form load event where it is declared.how can i find the datagrid control?
2. and another beginner question.. how to i declare a string that spans multipe lines? i tried with the + operator like in c#, but it doesn't work.
I'm just starting out using vb.net and i am writing my first application. I have added some comboboxes at runtime to my form using the code below.[code]Now my question is now that i have these controls added to the form, how can i iterate through them all and collect the values for sql injection. I have given each combobox a specific name when it was created such as Ball1, Ball2, Ball3.[code]
How do you refer to controls that are added at runtime e.g. I can add a combobox and a handler, but trying to reference the controls name in code gives an 'not defined', error so in my example, the control is visible, but I cant populate the combo box or use it in anyway.
I am building a program which will add items to a menu and launch the appropriate application by clicking the menu item I have added. I have linked to a data file and retrieved the ApplicationID, ApplicationName and ApplicationLink, the later being the location of the EXE file on the selected computer.I believe I can create an EventHandler on the fly to hold the link for each application[code].....
The above will add the Name to the menu, but I can't seem to SHELL the ApplicationLink.
I have a form with a Tab Control that has 18 pages. When I click on a tab it opens the page and select a textbox on that page (txtTextbox1. Select() ). This works for the first 8 pages but not for the remaining 10 pages. Although on these pages I can mouse click on the textbox, enter info, save then click my Add button that clears the textboxes and has the code (txtTextbox1. Select() ). The textbox is selected just fine. The code for all my pages is the same except for the tab name and the control names. The tab key will move the selection to the next textbox in order on all pages and the Enter key is coded to do the same. The first 8 pages have a total of 256 labels, buttons, list boxes, textboxes and checkboxes on them.
How do I add an event Handler to a control, for example a textbox, to handle any keypress event?cause I want this textbox(which is added in program runtime) to only accept any convert any small letter to Upper case.
[URL]its a free hoster, so you have to wait 10 seconds.First here's the steps to replicate, then I'll explain what the problem is:
(1) Create a System.Windows.Forms.UserControl and add a button to the bottom-right hand corner. Leave the button anchor as default (top-left). Add some more buttons dotted around so that you can see that they scale correctly.
(2) Add the UserControl to a form in the construtor, after the InitializeComponent call.
(3) Run the form.
(4) Increase the form font size some way (eg click a form button).
All the controls within the usercontrol scale perfectly but the usercontrol itself doesn't. It's width and height are increased by way too much. Look at the margin now between the button at the bottom-right hand corner and the usercontrol. To correct the problem, the usercontrol must be added before the InitializeComponent call.If it wasn't possible for me to add the usercontrol before InitializeComponent, is there any way for me to correct the scaling?
i a paint program where the user adds the required textbox at runtime... i have used the following code to add this
Static n As Integer n += 1 dyncmd = New TextBox '
[Code]....
where pboxf is the picturebox on which painting is being done... now i want that the text color should change if the user selects a part of the text and selects a diff color.... how can i do it???
I've added some Labels to a form at runtime using this
vb.net Dim x As Integer = 25 For i As Integer = 1 To word.Length
[Code]....
Now, I would like to add text to one of them, but I'm not sure how. I thought by setting .Name I would simply be able to write something like lbl4.text ="A". But, of course, because the Label has not been created yet, this is not possible.
Also, I'm not even sure if .Name is working the way I think it is. I was hoping that it would name each Label consecutively: lbl1, lbl2, lbl3, lbl4...etc.
Am I naming the Labels properly? And how would I add text to one of these Labels?
I am creating a program which allows the user to add some buttons during runtime. Each button can be moved, sized and added to any tab on a tabcontrol. What I would really like to do is binary serialize a class that contains the properties of each button including which tab it's on.
I have a form, with lables and textboxes added at runtime. The labels and textboxes are added properly on form load and display as expected. The form allows tabing into each of the textboxes, but the textbox does not allow user input.
Is this a problem with the way I show the form to the user? >> this particular form is called (frmname.show) from a different form -- If I test this form directly, without being called from a different form, it allows user input in the textboxes. Is it because of the properties I used to create the textbox? >> properties used were - .name, .size, .location, .tag
I want to ask a question about adding controls in design time (controls may be any win form control or a user control) and adding the control in run time.
I have Main and Detail forms. The Main form has ListView1. I would like to select new added ListViewItem in ListView1 when user click Save button in Detail form. I have problem only when I'm adding new item. When I modify and save existing item according item is selected after save command.
I am using Vb.net 3.5, An unhandled exception of type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException' occurred in System.Windows.Forms.dll
Additional information: Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG))
This exception is coming when control is trying to added into the page i.e Me.Controls.Add(CntrlName). I have registered. Then also i am getting error. Please help me.Its urgent.
I wana know how can i use a value from a sql table that i added from another form?It basically supposed to validate that whatever was the last recorded added in the other form(eg formA) , i must then use those same values from the sql , into another form(eg formB).If i type a value in the textbox( in formB), it basically must validate that, the value i typed in, is not the record that was enterd in the other form(formA) (the last record added in that form)
Here is my coding that i did: Dim conmid As New SqlClient.SqlConnection("Data Source=CHETS-TOSHIBASQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=PlanetDiscLibrary;Integrated Security=True")
i am wanting to add handler for controls i add at Page_load at page load i added several image buttons and applied the image urls using -i used the borderwidth propertiy for padding as was having trouble getting a cssclass to work. [code] what i want these Image button to do is when clicked a larger image in another panel will appear so i will need to assign the clicked buttons image url to the large image controls, image url
I have set up a class as a facade to access the session variables for my app. In this app I store an entire dataset for a particular employer as a session variable.Within one of the sub pages I have a button that adds a row to an existing table stored in that dataset.
Dim curRow As Data.DataRow = mySession.tWorksiteOtherMeasures.NewRow() curRow("lngWorksiteID") = getSelectedWorksiteID(getSelectedSiteID()) curRow("strMeasure") = "" curRow("lngStatusID") = -1
[code]....
When in the code to add the row the row count increments and the row exists. Once out of that scope the page refreshes due to the button being contained in an updatePanel. When that happens and I click the add button again the row counts for that item reset to 0 and 1 after the code runs. The previous added row is gone. Here is how the Dataset is assigned from the web service:
Public Shared Sub loadDSEmployer(ByVal strUserId As String) Dim myService As New someservice.service mySession.dsEmployer = myService.GetEmployerAndSites(strUserId, isInternal) End Sub
The textbox that I create in vb.net does not let me select all the text using the common keystroke control + a at runtime. The textbox is able to detect all other keystroke combinations at runtime, such as control + c, control + v for cut and paste, but it does nothing for when the keystroke control + a is pressed. Is this something that vb.net textboxes do not detect and therefore I would have to program manually by having the program detect keystrokes and then have the program select the text using the code TextBox1.SelectAll() ?
I was wondering how can I select all of the images in a richtextbox at runtime .For example, suppose a file is loaded into a richtextbox control (system.windows.forms) [code]...
I am writing an app that puts multiple controls on a form at run time and then I edit the controls in a property grid. All that is working fine. I'd like to 'mark' the contol when it is 'selected just like visual studio does with the dotted border (or soemthing similar, I don't care that it is just like vs). I'm already using MouseDown event to grab the control and send it to the PropertyGrid, but I have now wired it up to take multiple controls and need to 'identify' them on the screen.
I'm trying to browse to this page using the web brower in vb and whenever I do so it gives me a runtime error:If I click No(Nee) it loads the page fine it basically says:[code]So this is what gives the error, now is there any way so I can disable the run time error from coming up at all? [[code]
I'm trying to create a datagridviewrow and add data to it at runtime. I want the row to have the cells correspond to the columns in a datagridview, so that when I add data to the cells i can call the column name (the columns are likely to change around, so i think the name is better to use then the index).I create the row using the following code:
Dim row As New DataGridViewRow row.CreateCells(Datagrid)
and the column using the following code:
Dim col As New DataGridViewComboBoxColumn col.HeaderText = "Reference" col.Name = "Reference" datagrid.Columns.Insert(0, col)
I would like to add data to the row via the following code (or something similar that uses the column name instead of the index:
arow.Cells("Reference").Value = Detail.Reference
However at runtime I get the exception Column named Reference cannot be found. Parameter name: columnName I have a sneaking suspicion that the cells cannot be accessed with the column name because the row isnt really attached to columns yet (the row hasnt been added to the datagridview yet. (I tried cloning the cells of a row and then adding them to the row but no success)?
I am trying to code in .Net to select an area and the area will be where ever in the form, that is not restricted to a control and asusually the area appears like a square by dragging using mouse at runtime on the form and if on clicking on a button for ex "Save" i.e., saving the selected area and when the next time the page loads that particular area should be clickable.Right now i have no idea where to start but if some idea is given it will be more helpful to me to develop some code for this functionality. Does any one give a small idea that how can I do this functionality, so that I can proceed developing code?
I want to be able to select any control on the vb form at runtime. These controls will be added to theform on a click of a button. So essentially I want to dynamically be able to add and then select these controls at runtime. I would also like to make these controls dragable on the form.
I have a nested content page within a master page, upon load the the page retrieves from a SQL a list of controls to create (Field Type, FieldName) i.e. String, Username. The function loops around the list creating the controls on the webform in a Placeholder, this part works perfectly. The problem that I am experiencing is the request to obtain the value entered by the user in the dynamically created control, I need to perform this call following postback/callback.
If I take the Content page and make it a standard aspx page with no master page the application works fine. Unfortunatley taking the page out of the master page is not an option (unfortunatley a restriction by my client)
I have a form where I have to use control arrays to create a multiple input form i.e. rather than processing one transaction at a time up to 16 transactions must be processed. The following really havent given me much problems at this moment labels and textboxes. I use a for construct to create all the controls including a combobox. This is where my question comes in this form combobox has to be linked to a table in a database. But furthermore and this is where it gets complicated for me anyway each seperate combobox must move independly if i select row 5 in the table in combobox 4 combobox 5 which is havent touched should still be on row 1. How do I accomplish this. I'm using a webservice. I have tried passing a loaded dataset . The code that loaded the dataset is as follows
Dim DSInfo As New Project1.localhost4.AccInfo DSInfo.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials InformationData.Merge(DSInfo.GetBusinessJournals)
[Code].....
this code doesnt however provide a link to the table equallly creating a dataset in the combobox method ,loading it and then setting it as datasource also provides no link. I know i'm missing something.
I'm developing an application to allow engineers to conduct simple single table/view queries against our databases by selecting Database, Table, Fields.
I get how to use the Dynamic LINQ Library Sample to provide for dynamically selecting the Select, Where and Order by Clauses at runtime but I'm at an impass on how to allot for table choice.
Is there a way to provide for dynamically selecting the "from" table at run time
EDIT
So Both of the answers seem to be saying the same general Idea. I'm going to try to convert the C# into VB and get it to work.
The first answer converts to
NotInheritable Class DataContextExtensions Private Sub New() End Sub
