Why Is A Row Added To Session Datatable Disappearing On Refresh Of Page

I have set up a class as a facade to access the session variables for my app. In this app I store an entire dataset for a particular employer as a session variable.Within one of the sub pages I have a button that adds a row to an existing table stored in that dataset.

When in the code to add the row the row count increments and the row exists. Once out of that scope the page refreshes due to the button being contained in an updatePanel. When that happens and I click the add button again the row counts for that item reset to 0 and 1 after the code runs. The previous added row is gone.Here is how the Dataset is assigned from the web service:

i am new to this. i have 4 pages. login.aspx, account.aspx, settings.aspx and fliers.aspx. its all programmed in vb.net with sql server backend.on my firstr page, login.aspx i have this code in the .vb page -

When my splash screen, I'm doing two tasks. First I'm checking for software updates and then installing them if they exist and second, I'm loading the main form with data.I don't want the splash page to close until these tasks have completed. I'm multi-threading it so I can update the UI accordingly, but that doesn't stop the splash screen from closing. The tasks in the background still complete of course, but that's not how I want to do it.
I am trying to add NewRow to the database by using datatable in dataset, but before I do that I want to make sure that row is not already there. I create new row for the datatable I am working with, fill it with information. I fill datatable with the row from database that has the same primary key as my NewRow by using tableadapter.fill method, but when I do that my NewRow that was never added to the datatable is filled with information from database(and not information that I assigned to it). I count rows in my datatable before I fill it and it's 0, so why is my NewRow affected by Fill command? (I am using VB.NET 2005 Framework 2.0)
I have a session which contains a datatable and also have a function which returns a datatable. I need to add these two. How can I do this? The below code is to be replaced with correct code.

The '+' sign cannot be used to add these two, so how can I do this?

When I click in any button in the same page, the entire page reload and it display 8 items in the RadioButtonList, If I click for the second time I get 12 items in the RBL...How can I prevent the page to reload if I click in this button. ?
I have a datatable property called prpParametersTable in a class called clsBatch. I have a procedure that sets a datatable variable called dtP equal to prpParametersTable at the beginning of the procedure. I then add three new columns to dtP.Here is my problem. When I add the three new columns to dtP my original table prpParametersTable also gets those columns added to it, why? I only want to add the three columns to dtP and not prpParametersTable. How can I do that?

I have an explorer-like interface which in many ways mimiques the behaviour of a standard explorer window. What I need is to find some way of knowing if something had changed in the filesystem since the last time I checked.What I mean, for example if a user creates a directory or renames a file - I need a way to know that. Right now I re-read the contents of the displayed folder once per second and I added a manual 'Refresh' button, but I wonder if there is a better solution.I tried to use FileSystemWatcher component for that but either I couldn't figure out how it works or it doesn't have such functionality.
For some reason when the user click on the submit button and he re-fresh the page the same data get's uploaded again to my SQL Server 2005 database. I do not what this to happen... I am making use of a SQL Data Source!

My problem is when using PageIndexChanging, I can edit in the 1st page of GridView without any problem, but in second page it is editing the one corresponding to e.RowIndex in the first page, so no change occurs other than the first page in the gridview.

The problem that I have is: The user comes to page 1 and the session variable becomes A, then he opens page 2 in a new tab and the session variable because B on both page 1 and page 2. I'm planning to use some session variables on an intranet ASP/VB.NET page, and want to make sure that I'm not missing out on anything important I should know, or that I have my information mixed up. So here's what I (think) I know about session variables.They:are stored on the server, so if I have a lot of users then they'll each be using some more memory which could lead to a slowdown.are inaccessible by the user unless I expose access. hang around/persist across user requests (i.e. each time the user makes a request from the page the data will still be there - until it times out). This also means that I need to make sure that the variable doens't have "left over" data in it.
Is there anything that I've got totally wrong, or anything I'm missing? I'd prefer not to get bitten by a bug down the road because I think I understand what's going on.
If my sessions time out I want to re-direct the page to another URL: Say the home page. On my page I make use of a GridView that uses Session variables. If the session variable time expire(currently at 60min) and the user click on a row in the GridView I want to re-direct him/her to the home page of my site.
Using a session variable in my VB.net site has been figured out just fine. I just need to get my welcome message to stay put on every page. I put the code and text box in my master page to allow the message to stay there, but my label with the user's name disappears when I click on a different page.
The session is still there because I have it set up to display the textbox to enter your code if the session is destroyed or not available for some reason.
my code is not allowing the First_Name and Last_Name of the user's session to show up? The problem is in the Page_Load but I thought I would throw in the whole master.vb file to show everything I have so far.

I have 2 web pages. In the first webpage I have a text box which takes an user input.The number of controls rendered in the second page is based on the user input in the first page.I am storing the user input from the first page as a session variable [code]Now, I wish to use this session variable in the next page for initializing a global variable and what I tried to do is Dim num_Invitees As Integer = CType (Session("NoOfControls ToGenerate"),Integer)But this gives me a NullReferenceException.Can someone please suggest me what exactly I should be doing in order to use the session variable to initialize a global variable and also why the session variable's value is null while using outside a function but works fine when used inside a function?
I have a gridview and use a session to pass the variables from the page to an edit page. This works perfectly, until you search for a number. When you search the correct record displays in gridview, but when you click edit, it passes the wrong record.

I'm using ASP.net 4.0 VB,I am using a session variable to add a user entered code into the url of each page. I can get the code to show up at the end of the page's URL that my textbox is on, but what do I add to every page to make sure that the session stays at the end of every URL that person visits during their session? I have an MVC application which sets some session variables based on internal static IP addresses.I have built an ApplicationController to override the OnActionExecuted sub in MVC for data that I need to use throughout my application.However, the code below, which is just a snippet of my code but is edited for my post, only partially works. On initial page load, the session variables aren't saved, but after a page refresh they are. The issue I have is that these need to be saved on the initial page load.

Theoretically, if I'm correct, if there is no Session("Item1") set/if Session("Item1") is empty, then the rest of the snippet should run and set those variables.How come this isn't setting those variables on the first time the page load?
I'm developing web site using asp.net. In my web site after login i set session for the logged user for my web site need. and on each page i checked whether that session is null or having value and depending on the value i redirected to the login page.My issue is that after login i want to redirect to the previously browsed web page and i done it by using following way-code on the particular page for checking session value-
This piece of code grabs a customers hire record using their hire ID and displays their details in multiple textboxes. It all works fine and well, however, I can only run it once. If I type in another customers hire record ID it just displays the first customers details that were materialised, which I assume is because the datatable has been populated and not refreshed based on the new hire record ID I've entered.

With this I can search a column of a datagridview for a match. It works all fine and well, until I insert a new record into the database at which point I refresh the datagridview to display the newly added record. After I do this, I can no longer search using the textbox. Once again, I'm not quite sure what to do to fix this issue.
The following code loops through the rows of a datatable to process each record which has a Processed column value not equal to -1. When a record is processed, its Processed value is updated to -1. As a record is processed, the code within the Do Loop may add a new record to the datatable with a Processed column value equl to 0. All of that works as intended. My test set record gets processed and a new record is added.At the end of the For.Next code, there is a line , "clsWTAdapter.Fill(clsWTDataTable)", which I intended to refresh the rows so that it would include the newly added record which would then be processed during the next iteration of the For...Next sequence. This is not happening. What am I doing wrong, and how can I refresh the rows and process the newly added records?

I have an untyped-Dataset with two related DataTables, and I have a grid bound to the parent DataTable. I used the WriteXMLSchema() method of the parent DataTable in order to save the schema in a xml file. Then I opened the file with the Notepad, deleted two columns from the schema file and saved it. After that, I used the ReadXMLSchema() of this DataTable but -contrary to what I would have thought- the DataTable's structure was unchanged. Using the debugger I noticed that after calling the method the number of columns was the same. Why? How can I make the DataTable's schema to be changed by using a file?
notice that I am using the DataTable's methods and not the Dataset's because I do not want to touch the child DataTable.
In a DataTable object, is there added overhead to looking up a column value by name thisRow("ColumnA") rather than by the column index thisRow(0)? In which scenarios might this be an issue. I work on a team that has lots of experience writing VB6 code and I noticed that didn't do column lookups by name for DataTable objects or data grids. Even in .NET code, we use a set of integer constants to reference column names in these types of objects. I asked our team lead why this was so, and he mentioned that in VB6, there was a lot of overhead in looking up data by column name rather than by index. Is this still true for .NET?
I have a Datatable where i added data from textbox when i want to edit selected datatable rows from gridview to eidit these values will be showing in their respected fields but when i click update button the only first row in gridview will be updated either i select first row or any other row in gridview for editing whereas i want to update the selected rows data. I am storing an array of a custom serializable class in session on my site. When a page on the site changes, suddenly it renders them invalid, and tells me that it can't cast the type to it's own type. I assume the class version numbers are changing or something?!
I'm not trying to redesign this whole process.
